Аннотация: The multielectron LDA+GTB approach has been developed to calculate electronic structure of strongly correlated cuprates. At low energies the effective Hamiltonian of the t−t′−t"−t⊥−J∗−J⊥-model has been derived with parameters coming from the ab initio calculation for LSCO. The electronic structure of LSCO has been calculated self-consistently with the short-range antiferromagnetic order for various doping level. Two Lifshitz-type quantum phase transitions with Fermi surface topology changes have been found at dopings xc1=0.15 and xc2=0.24. Its effect on normal and superconducting properties has been calculated. The interatomic exchange parameter and its pressure dependence has been calculated within LDA+GTB scheme. The magnetic mechanisms of d-wave pairing induced by static and dynamical spin correlations are discussed. Simultaneous treatment of magnetic and phonon pairing results in the conclusion that both contributions are of the same order. For two layer cuprates like YBCO the interlayer hopping and exchange effects on the electronic structure and doping dependence of Tc is discussed as well as the Coulomb interaction induced mechanism of pairing.

Аннотация: Crystallographically aligned nanocrystalline films of the ferromagnetic spinel CuCr2Se4 were successfully synthesized and their structure and alignment were confirmed by X-ray diffraction and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy. The average size of the crystallites is about 200–250 nm, and their (1 1 1) crystal planes are parallel to the film plane. A good match of the film’s electronic structure to that of bulk CuCr2Se4 is confirmed by transverse Kerr effect measurements. Four easy 〈1 1 1〉 axes are present in the films. One of these axes is oriented perpendicular and three others are oriented at an angle of 19.5° relative to the film plane. The magnetic properties of the films are determined by a competition between the out-of-plane magnetocrystalline anisotropy and the in-plane shape anisotropy. Magnetic measurements show that the dominating type of anisotropy switches from shape to magnetocrystalline anisotropy near 160 K, which leads to a switch of the effective easy axis from inside the film plane at room temperature to perpendicular to the film plane as the temperature decreases. At last, a moderately large, negative value of the low-temperature magnetoresistance was observed for the first time in CuCr2Se4 films.

Аннотация: XPS, PbL3 and CuK EXAFS, solid state NMR, and EPR techniques are used to study insoluble products formed in the interaction of aqueous solutions of lead(II) nitrate and copper (II) sulfate with potassium nbutylxanthate (KX). The XPS spectra of lead xanthates with the composition PbX2 are similar to those of KX, and interatomic distances of 0.279 nm suggest a nearly ionic character of Pb–S bonds. In copper xanthate precipitating together with dixanthogen (approximately 15 wt.%), the Cu(I)–S bond length is smaller (0.229 nm), and copper coordination number of 2.9 in a composite with dixanthogen increases to 3.3 after its removal by washing with acetone. The XPS spectra indicate the covalent character of the bond and non-equivalence of xanthate radicals. Solid state 1H and 13C NMR spectra as well as the actual absence of metal lines under the measurement conditions demonstrate strong disordering of the structure of xanthates, which is stronger for PbX2 and weakest in CuX after the removal of dixanthogen. EPR reveals sulfur-containing radicals and Cu2+ in CuX, however, their amounts are insignificant and decrease after the washing with acetone. The results of the work are significant for the understanding of the reactivity of xanthates, in particular, under the conditions of flotation of base metal ores.

Аннотация: The work presents a study of manganese-doped copper metaborate (Cu,Mn)B2O4 using optical spectroscopy. The temperature of the antiferromagnetic phase transition TN = 19 K has been defined according to the absorption spectra. Polarization studies (Cu,Mn)B2O4 in isotropic ab-plane show the presence of linear antiferromagnetic dichroism in the magnetically ordered state previously observed in pure copper metaborate CuB2O4.This measurement allows to find the magnetic phase transition into an elliptical structure at the temperature T* = 7.0 K.

Аннотация: The spin-fermion model, which is an effective low-energy realization of the three-band Emery model after passing to the Wannier representation for the px and py orbitals of the subsystem of oxygen ions, reduces to the generalized Kondo lattice model. A specific feature of this model is the existence of spin-correlated hoppings of the current carriers between distant cells. Numerical calculations of the spectrum of spin-electron excitations highlight the important role of the long-range spin-correlated hoppings.

Аннотация: The influence of a pressure of gas mixture (10 vol% O2 + 90% N2) on an average size of copper oxide nanoparticles, produced in the plasma of low pressure arc discharge, has been studied as a basic process variable. A correlation between the dependence of average particle size on gas mixture pressure and the dependence of discharge gap voltage on product of interelectrode distance by a gas mixture pressure, has been found. The estimation was carried out by means of X-ray diffraction (XRD) and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM). A mathematical model of the cathode region, which shows the applicability of the similarity theory to the low pressure arc discharge, has been represented.

Аннотация: Discovery of new semiconductor candidates with suitable band gaps is a challenge for optoelectronic application. A facile solvothermal synthesis of a new ternary chalcogenide semiconductor CsCu5Se3 is reported. The telluride CsCu5Te3 is also predicted to be stable. CsCu5Se3 is isostructural with CsCu5S3 (space group Pmma). The band gap calculations of these chalcogenide semiconductors using hybrid density functional theory indicate nearly direct band gaps, and their values (about 1.4 eV) were confirmed by the optical absorption spectroscopy. These alkali metal copper chalcogenides are interesting examples of copper-rich structures which are commonly associated with favorable photovoltaic application.

Аннотация: The paper presents the results of creating and researching the transparent heaters with enhanced performance characteristics. The heaters are based on a composite coating of a new type by contrast with classical solutions based on transparent conductive oxide films. Such a composite coating is copper micromesh obtained using a self-organized template, stabilized by a thin film of graphene oxide (GO). The micromesh coating is formed by magnetron sputtering of copper onto a template obtained as a result of self-organized cracking of a silica film. Then, a graphene oxide film protecting the micromesh coating from thermal and chemical degradation is applied to the micromesh coating by the spray-method. A composite coating with the surface resistance of 8.9 Ohm/sq is obtained with the transparency of 82.8 % at the wavelength of 550 nm. High uniformity of heating and stability of the composite coating are shown when operating under heating up to 97.2 °C for a long time (24 hours). The composite coating of the GO / Cu micro- mesh on a glass substrate 2 mm thick is characterized by the thermal resistance value of 134.2 °C·cm2·W-1, while the ITO literature sample on an equivalent substrate is characterized by the thermal resistance of 94.04 °C·cm2·W-1, which indicates higher heating efficiency at the same specific power dissipation. This fact opens up prospects for its use as an anti-icing coating in aerospace industry.

Аннотация: Two mixed-ligand Cu(II) complexes [Cu2(Bipy)2(H2O)2(OH)2](Hba)2·2H2O (1) and [Cu(Bipy)(H2O)(Hba)Cl]·2H2O (2) (Bipy = 2,2′-bipyridine and Hba− = barbiturate anion) were synthesized and structurally characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction. In 1, structural data revealed distorted square-pyramidal geometry for each of two crystallographic independent copper(II) atom with the basal plane formed by two nitrogen atoms of the 2,2′-bipyridine ligand and two oxygen atoms of bridging hydroxo groups. The apical positions are filled by the oxygen atoms from a water molecule. In 2, the Cu atom is also in distorted square pyramidal geometry, where the equatorial sites are occupied by two N atoms of one Bipy ligand, one O atom of the barbiturate ion and one chloride ion and the apical position by one aqua ligand. Numerous intermolecular hydrogen bonds O–H⋯O, N–H⋯O, C–H⋯O in the structures 1–2 and in addition O–H⋯Cl, C–H⋯Cl in the structure 2 form the 3D networks. Topological analysis showed that these H-bonded networks are new. An additional factor that plays a role in the crystal packing of the discussed complexes is the π-π stacking interaction between the aromatic rings of Hba− and Bipy forming infinite chains –Hba–Bipy–Bipy–Hba–. The spectroscopic and thermal properties of compounds were analyzed.

Аннотация: YBa2Cu3O7 – δ–CuO composites with CuO particle contents of 0.5, 1.0, 2.0, 5.0, 10, 15, 20, and 24% were produced via arc plasma synthesis. Their magnetic properties were analyzed in the context of the expanded critical state model. In comparison with a reference sample, the critical current intragranular density increased in composites with CuO concentrations of 0.5, 1, 20, and 24%. The mechanisms of the influence of nanodopants on the change in the critical current density at various volume contents of nano-CuO were proposed as well.

Аннотация: Single crystals of Cu2AlBO5 and Cu2GaBO5 copper oxyborates are synthesized via solution-melt crystallization and subjected to X-ray diffraction analysis. Parameters of the crystal lattice and the positions of atoms in a unit cell are determined. Copper ions form a structural chain along axis а in Cu2AlBO5 and Cu2GaBO5. Temperature dependences of the magnetic susceptibility are measured. The obtained curves feature kinks at Т = 2.4 (Cu2AlBO5) and 4.1 K (Cu2GaBO5). © 2019, Allerton Press, Inc.

Аннотация: The work presents the results of the investigationof deformation processes occurring in copper after stress-wave influence. Structural changes analysis is carried out by direct research methods (X-ray phase analysis and optical microscopy) along and perpendicular to the spreading direction of the stress wave front in the copper foil plane. For more information, investigations have been conducted by an indirect method using ferromagnetic resonance of magnetic characteristics. As a magnetic covering, Co/Ni-type multilayer films are deposited on the copper foil, which makes it possible to apply magnetic research methods. The magnetic response of the multilayer covering correlates with the modification of the copper structure observed by direct methods. The information obtained in the course of research allows us to conclude that the wave character of the deformation processes occurring in copper is natural. The value and direction of structural modifications vary along the sample length as a function with a long-wave period is about 30 mm, which is consistent with the inhomogeneous distribution model of internal stresses. Throughout the sample length, alternating areas of stretching and compression of copper grains are fixed along the spreading direction of the stress wave front. The greatest stretching of the structural elements is observed at a distance equal to almost half the wavelength of the mechanical deformation field. Thus, the translational (shear) mode of the mechanical field of material plastic flow appears as the results of the investigation. © 2019 Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.
