A transition of the field dependence of the electrical resistivity from a square law (similar to H-2) above T-c to a linear function (similar to H) below T-c is observed in the degenerate ferromagnetic semiconductor HgCr2Se4(n). Together with the large negative
magnetoresistance
, these magnetoelectric effects correspond to effects observed in the perovskite-type oxides La1-xCaxMnOdelta. Inasmuch as the undoped semiconductor HgCr2Se4 is a ferromagnet with approximately the same critical temperature as the doped semiconductor and in view of the total lack of data on the Jahn-Teller effect in this compound, we infer that our results cast doubt on existing hypotheses (polaron and binary exchange) regarding the origin of the giant
magnetoresistance
in La1-xCaxMnOdelta. Impurity sd scattering is discussed as a possible
magnetoresistance

The results of experiment on the influence of a direct current and a low-frequency alternating current, as well as a magnetic field, on the microwave-range conductivity sigma(MW) of Ln(0.7)Pb(0.3)MnO(3) single crystals with giant
magnetoresistance
are presented. The greatest sensitivity of the samples toward the effects of a current is observed in the temperature range corresponding to the dc
magnetoresistance
maximum. The response signal of a sample in the microwave range to the effects of an alternating current of a low frequency f(0) has a nonlinear character. As f(0) is varied in a magnetic field, the amplitude of the response signal varies with the appearance of resonance peaks. The results obtained are interpreted within an approach based on the coexistence of two phases having different conductivities in the doped manganite crystals. This two-phase interpretation is supported by data from magnetic-resonance investigations, which demonstrate the existence of two magnetic phases over a broad temperature range in Ln(0.7)Pb(0.3)MnO(3) single crystals. We present a two-time of relaxation approach at an analysis of a
magnetoresistance
in ferromagnetic manganese perovskites La(1-x)(Ca,Sr)(x)MnO. To explain a change in the low-held response from predominantly quadratic dR/dH\(H-->0) = 0 for T > T(c) to linear dR/dH\(H-->0) for T < T(c) as noted in the measurements in thin films La(0.7)Ca(0.3)MnO(3) we calculated held and temperature dependences of a impurity contribution to a carrier mobility in a framework of the 2p(O)- and 3d(Mn)-scattering model elaborated for manganese perovskites. We obtained the field-dependent impurity contribution to the overall scattering of carriers that show a transition in the low-field (H) dependence of R from quadratic above T(c) to linear below consistent with an experiment. The calculated negative magnetoresistance ratio is sharply peaked at a temperature-near T(c) or below. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.

The magnetic, electric, magnetoresistive, and structural properties are investigated in the sulfide solid solutions FexMn1-xS, which are based on the antiferromagnetic semiconductor alpha-MnS (the fcc NaCl lattice). Colossal negative
magnetoresistance
(delta(H)similar to-83% at 160 K for x similar to 0.29), comparable to that observed in La-Ca-Mn-O polycrystals and films (delta(H)similar to-90% at 100 K and 40 kOe), is observed in compounds with intermediate concentrations 0.26 x 0.4, corresponding to the region of incipient ferromagnetism. The structural, electrical, and magnetic properties, as well as the
magnetoresistance
of polycrystalline MexMn1-xS (Me = Fe and Cr) sulfides were investigated in longitudinal magnetic fields of up to 50 kOe over the temperature range 4.2-300 K. The ferromagnetic compound FexMn1-xS (x = 0.29) exhibits the giant
magnetoresistance
(GMR) effect with magnitude delta(H) = -450% in a field of 30 kOe at 50 K. Antiferromagnetic CrxMn1-xS (x = 0.5) sulfide undergoes a transition to the GMR state (delta(H) similar to -25% in a field of 30 kOe at 4.2 K) in the region of antiferromagnet-ferromagnet transition (T-c similar to 66 K). Аннотация:
It was found that high-temperature superconductor (HTSC) based composites of the 1-2-3 (YBCO) + dielectric and YBCO + normal metal types exhibit large magnetoresistances in weak magnetic fields in a broad temperature range. This behavior is qualitatively explained using the concept of the irreversibility line in HTSCs and the mechanism of thermal fluctuations in the network of weak bonds of the Josephson type realized in HTSC composites. The HTSC-based composites exhibit a much higher sensitivity (as compared to that in the usual HTSC ceramics) to weak magnetic fields (below 300 Oe) at liquid-nitrogen temperatures, which is important for practical applications. Аннотация:
For circular quantum dot (QD), taking into account the Razhba spin-orbit interaction (SOI), an exact energy spectrum is obtained. For a small SOI constant, the eigenfunctions of the QD are found. It is shown that the application of a radiation field with circular polarization removes the Kramers degeneracy of the QD eigenstates. Effective spin polarization of electrons transmitted through the QD owing to a radiation field with circular polarization is demonstrated. (C) 2001 MAIK "Nauka/Interperiodica".

Аннотация:
The magnetic resonance measurements show that the mixed two-phase state takes place in the Eu0.7Pb0.3MnO3 single crystal. The coexistence of the magnetic phases is observed in vicinity of the magnetic phase transition, where the sample exhibits the effect of the CMR. The frequency-field dependencies of the spectra allow to conclude that these phases are paramagnetic and ferromagnetic ones. Moreover, the study of the frequency dependencies shows the sensitivity of the mixed-phase state to the external magnetic field. This suggests that the scenario of the phase separation is realized in this case and the mixed two-phase state is not related to simple chemical inhomogeneity. (C) 2002 Elsevier Science B.V. Аннотация:
By means of a diagram technique for Hubbard operators, we show the existence of a spin-dependent renormalization of the localized levels in an interacting region, e.g., quantum dot, modeled by the Anderson Hamiltonian with two conduction bands. It is shown that the renormalization of the levels with a given spin direction is due to kinematic interactions with the conduction subbands of the opposite spin. The consequence of this dressing of the localized levels is a drastically decreased tunneling current for ferromagnetically ordered leads compared to that of paramagnetically ordered leads. Furthermore, the studied system shows a spin-dependent resonant tunneling behavior for ferromagnetically ordered leads.

in the crystals. The concentration ratios of the paramagnetic and ferromagnetic phases in the samples were found to be sensitive to variations in temperature and external magnetic field. We have studied the magnetoresistive properties of a structure comprising single crystal manganite Eu0.7Pb0.3MnO3 covered with an epitaxial iron film. At temperatures below T-C of the manganite crystal, the structure exhibits positive
magnetoresistance
. The behavior of the resistance as a function of the magnetic field is characteristic of a tunneling junction with ferromagnetic electrodes separated by a thin insulating film. The observed effect is related to the formation of a transition layer at the manganite-Fe interface, which is depleted of oxygen and possesses dielectric properties. The sensitivity of the resistance with respect to the magnetic field is determined both by the negative
magnetoresistance
of the manganite crystal and by the tunneling contribution to the conductivity, whereby the tunneling current depends on the mutual orientation of magnetic moments of the electrodes (Eu0.7Pb0.3MnO3 crystal and Fe film). (C) 2003 MAIK "Nauka/Interperiodica".

We have studied the low-temperature
magnetoresistance
of Y3/4Lu1/4Ba2Cu3O7-CuO composites obtained by fast sintering technique and established a relation between the probing to critical current density ratio j/j(c) and the shape of the
magnetoresistance
curve rho(H). For j/j(c) 1, the electric resistance arises at a threshold value of the magnetic field strength H-c. For j/j(c) greater than or equal to 1, a linear variation of rho(H) at 77 K in the range from 0 to 14 Oe can be provided by selecting the CuO content (in the 15-30 vol % interval) and the j value (in the 0.003-0.2 A/cm(2) range). In the latter case, the slope drho/dH (i.e., the sensitivity of the electric resistivity with respect to the magnetic field) is 1-20 mOmega cm/Oe and the relative field-induced increase in the resistivity rho(0)
