optical lattices -- optical vortices -- Talbot effect
Аннотация: Fresnel diffraction of light beams with a topological charge on a 2D regular amplitude transparency mask is studied. Numerical predictions show that the 3D optical lattices of optical vortices can be formed using the Talbot effect, with these predictions confirmed by the experimental reconstruction of all 3D optical vortex lattices. The periodicity of the 3D optical vortex lattices is determined by the light wavelength and periodicity of a transparency mask. Furthermore, it is shown that the optical vortices are created and annihilated during light propagation behind the mask with the preservation of the total topological charge. The 3D optical vortex lattices are considered to be tolerant to the perturbations induced by trapped particles caused by the features of the Talbot effect. The 3D optical vortex lattices open new possibilities for light-matter interactions and the related applications.

Bosons -- Quantum chemistry -- Transport properties
Аннотация: It is known that the quantum transport of noninteracting Bose particles across a tight-binding chain is ballistic in the sense that the current does not depend on the chain length. We address the question whether the transport of strongly interacting bosons can be ballistic as well. We find such a regime and show that, classically, it corresponds to the synchronized motion of local nonlinear oscillators. It is also argued that, unlike the case of noninteracting bosons, the transporting state responsible for the ballistic transport of interacting bosons is metastable, i.e., the current decays in the course of time. An estimate for the decay time is obtained.

nanoparticles -- ferrihydrite -- magnetic anisotropy -- magnetic resonance
Аннотация: Ferromagnetic resonance was used to study three types of ferrihydrite nanoparticles: nanoparticles formed as a result of the cultivation of microorganisms Klebsiella oxytoca; chemically prepared ferrihydrite nanoparticles; chemically prepared ferrihydrite nanoparticles doped with Cu. It is established from the ferromagnetic resonance data that the frequency-field dependence (in the temperature range ТP ‹ T ‹ T*) is described by the expression: 2πν/γ ⁼ НR + HA(T = 0)(1 – T/Т*), where γ is the gyromagnetic ratio, HR is the resonance field. The induced anisotropy HA is due to the spin-glass state of the near-surface regions. TP temperature characterizes the energy of the interparticle interaction of nanoparticles.

Аннотация: In this paper, we study particles with metallic core (magnesium) - metal shell (nickel) structure, synthesized in metal-containing plasma of high frequency arc discharge. X-ray diffraction analysis, X-ray fluorescence analysis and scanning electron microscopy show that the particles have a uniform nickel shell, which is also indirectly confirmed by comparing the results of hydrogenation of Mg and Mg@Ni particles. Measurement of volume magnetization indicates that shell thickness of most particles is not more than 22 nm.

This paper studies the quantum dynamics of a charged particle in a two-dimensional square lattice, under the influence of electric and magnetic fields, the former being aligned with one of the lattice axes and the latter perpendicular to the lattice plane. While in free space these dynamics consist of uniform motions in the direction orthogonal to the electric field vector, we find that, in a lattice, this directed drift takes place only for specific initial conditions and for electric field magnitudes smaller than a critical value. Otherwise, the quantum wave packet spreads ballistically in both directions orthogonal to the electric field. We quantify this ballistic spreading and identify the subspace of initial conditions ensuring directed transport with the drift velocity. We also describe the effect of disorder in the system. carbon nanomaterials -- platinum metal nanoparticles -- in situ one-step method
Аннотация: Carbon nanomaterials (fullerite, detonation nanodiamonds, Taunit, fullerenol, fullerene-containing black) were decorated with platinum group metal nanoparticles in situ in one step by low-temperature combustion (~250–270°С) of a powdered mixture of platinum metal acetylacetonate [Pt-M(асас)n, Pt-М = Pt(II), Pd(II), Rh(III), Ir(III), acac = CH3COCHCOCH3, n is the oxidation state of Pt-М] with carbon nanomaterials in air. As shown by thermal analysis, the process is based on thermal oxidative degradation of the organometallic complex, catalyzed by carbon nanomaterials, with oxidation (combustion) of the organic moiety and release of the metal into the condensed phase. The thermal process in an open system occurs in the glowing mode (210–250°С); the size of the nanoparticles formed is 7–30 nm. Under the conditions restricting the air access to the reaction mixture and free outflow of gaseous products formed by oxidation of acac ligands, the nanoparticle size decreases to 3–10 nm. The particle size depends on the metal amount in the initial powder mixture and on the support morphology.

Аннотация: The evolution of the magnetic properties of composite Al2O3/Co(P) particles during ball milling and dynamic compaction is investigated. To prepare starting composite particles, the Al2O3 granules were coated with a Co95P5 shell by electroless plating. The magnetic and structural properties of the composite particles are characterized by scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, and the use of the Physical Property Measurement System. The use of composite core-shell particles as starting powder for mechanoactivation allows to decrease treatment duration to 1 h and to produce a more homogeneous bulk sample than in the case of the mixture of Co and Al2O3 powders. The magnetic properties of the milled composite particles are correlated with changes in the microstructure. Reduction in grain size of Co during milling leads to an increase of the volume fraction of superparamagnetic particles and to a decrease of the saturation magnetization. The local magnetic anisotropy field depends on the amount of hcp-Co phase in sample. The anisotropy field value decreases from 8.4 kOe to 3.8 kOe with an increase in milling duration up to 75 min. The regimes of dynamic compaction were selected so that the magnetic characteristics-saturation magnetization and coercive field-remained unchanged. (C) 2014 AIP Publishing LLC.

Аннотация: We study the effect of Coulomb repulsion between oxygen holes on the London penetration depth λ based on the concept of spin-polaron nature of Fermi quasiparticles in cuprates superconductors. It is shown that for the generally accepted values of the parameters of the spin-fermion model, taking into account the Coulomb interaction, both the one-site Hubbard U p and interaction between holes on the next-nearest-neighbor oxygen ions V 2, allows one to achieve a much better agreement of the calculated temperature dependencies of the value λ −2 with the experimental data in La2−x Sr x CuO4 in a wide range around optimal doping.

Аннотация: An effective low-energy Hamiltonian is derived from a microscopic multiband p-d model in the regime of strong electron correlations. The parameters of the p-d model are determined by comparison with the ARPES data for undoped Nd2CuO4. The Hamiltonian is the t-J* model in which hopping and exchange slowly decay with distance and are taken into account up to the fifth coordination sphere. The quasiparticle band structure is calculated as a function of the doping concentration with regard to short-range magnetic order, and the superconductivity theory with the spin-fluctuation pairing mechanism is constructed. Assuming that the parameters of the model do not depend on the doping level, we obtained quantitative agreement with the properties observed experimentally for the normal and superconducting phases without introducing fitting parameters. Аннотация: The electronic structure of electron-doped cuprates is discussed in the regions of small and optimal doping. For optimal doping we obtain the parameters from a simple tight-binding analysis by fitting ARPES data, and for small doping we study the band structure by the generalized tight-binding method that takes strong electronic correlations into account explicitly. This method has also reproduced well the ARPES data for small doping. The effective low-energy Hamiltonian is the t-t'-J model with hopping parameters t and t'. We compare both methods and find very good agreement for the value of t while t' is different because it is caused by the different contribution of the short-range spin correlations. Аннотация: We investigate the effect of particle polydispersity on the optical extinction spectra of colloidal aggregates of spherical metallic (silver) nanoparticles, taking into account the realistic interparticle gaps caused by layers of stabilizing polymer adsorbed on the metal surface (adlayers). The spectra of computer-generated aggregates are computed using two different methods. The coupled-multipole method is used in the quasistatic approximation and the coupled-dipole method beyond the quasistatics. The latter approach is applicable if the interparticle gaps are sufficiently wide relative to the particle radii. Simulations are performed for two different particle size distribution functions (bimodal and Gaussian), varying the number of particles per aggregate, and different distribution functions of the interparticle gap width. The strong influence of the latter factor on the spectra is demonstrated and investigated in detail.
