Аннотация: The design of a 10th-order waveguide bandpass filter with an additional inductive cross-coupling between non-adjacent resonators has been proposed and studied. An inductive coupling is formed by a U-shaped conductor structure with grounded ends that is formed in the filter cover. This method of cross-coupling organization ensures not only the temperature stability of the characteristics, but also the manufacturability of the structure. The high selectivity of the device is achieved by both the attenuation poles located near the passband, as well as the level of suppression in the stopbands, exceeding 120 dB. The passband loss of the fabricated filter is ~ 0.8 dB at its central frequency f0=18.2 GHz and relative bandwidth Δf/f0=1.5%. The small dimensions (135 x 30 x 10 mm) and the weight of about 200 g of the device, with simultaneously high electrical characteristics show the promise of its use, for example, in on-board and ground-based space communication systems.

Аннотация: This article presents the compact magnetic frequency doubler based on a quarter-wavelength stepped-impedance microstrip resonator with a 125-nm-thick permalloy (Ni 70 Fe 30 ) magnetic film. For the first time, the implementation of a frequency doubler operating at the high-field peak is shown. To produce a uniform magnetic field in the thin magnetic film plane, the magnetic system consisting of individual permanent magnets and based on the circular Halbach array was developed. The uniformity of the magnetic field in the region of 10×10 mm2 was 4.9%. Two bandpass filters were developed. The input filter serves to purify the input signal from parasitic harmonics. The output filter blocks the input signal in the resonator. The resonator, magnetic system, input and output filters are integrated into a single device. The maximum measured conversion efficiency was 0.97% (at 1 GHz) at the input power of 4800 mW. The −3 dB fractional bandwidth of the magnetic frequency doubler was 2.15%.

Аннотация: Исследованы конструкции полосно-пропускающих фильтров на мультислойных диэлектрических структурах, состоящих исключительно из полуволновых резонаторов, а также с четвертьволновыми резонаторами по краям рассмотренных конструкций. Описаны принципы построения устройств с заданными характеристиками и объяснены основные закономерности поведения частотно-селективных свойств мультислойных структур от их конструктивных параметров. Впервые показано, что в многослойных полосно-пропускающих фильтрах на одномерных диэлектрических структурах амплитудно-частотные характеристики остаются неизменными при инверсии скачков волнового сопротивления между соседними слоями конструкции. Определены границы реализуемых характеристик фильтров с использованием имеющегося набора современных широко распространенных в радиотехнике материалов (1 ≤ ε ≤ 1000). Обнаружено, что достижимые значения относительных полос пропускания в конструкциях, состоящих исключительно из полуволновых слоев, составили от 21 до 93 %, при этом самые узкополосные фильтры можно реализовать с интерфейсными средами, обладающими характеристиками Z0 ≈ 85 Ом (ε ≈ 19,7) в случае прямого скачка и Z0 ≈ 53 Ом (ε ≈ 50,4) – в случае обратного. Показано, что для конструкций с крайними четвертьволновыми слоями (все внутренние слои – полуволновые) при прочих равных условиях селективные свойства становятся лучше, однако относительная ширина полосы пропускания может изменяться лишь от 45 до 115 %, при этом нижняя граница достижима только в случае с интерфейсными средами из воздуха (Z0 ≈ 377 Ом, ε = 1).The designs of band-pass filters on multilayer dielectric structures consisting of half-wave resonators exclusively, as well as with quarterwave resonators at the edges of the considered structures are investigated. The principles of constructing devices with specified characteristics are described and the basic laws of the behavior of frequency-selective properties of multilayer structures on their design parameters are explained. It is shown for the first time that in multilayer bandpass filters on one-dimensional dielectric structures, the frequency responses remain unchanged when the steps of the characteristic impedance between adjacent layers of the structure are inverted. The boundaries of the realized characteristics of filters are determined using the existing set of modern materials widely used in radio engineering (1 ≤ ε ≤ 1000). It was found that the achievable values of relative passband in constructions consisting exclusively of half-wave layers ranged from 21% to 93%, while the most narrow-band filters can be realized with interface media having characteristics of Z0 ≈ 85 Ohm (ε ≈ 19.7) in the case of a forward step of the characteristic impedance at the edge interfaces of the structure and Z0 ≈ 53 Ohm (ε ≈ 50.4) – in the case of the reverse step (inversely proportional to the original). It is demonstrated that for the structures with the edge quarter-wave layers (all the inner layers are half-wave), other things being equal, the selective properties become better, but the relative passband can vary from only 45% to 115%, while the lower limit is achievable only in the case of air interface media (Z0 ≈ 377 Ohm, ε = 1).

Аннотация: Разработана миниатюрная конструкция полосно-пропускающего фильтра на резонаторах, образованных двумя П-образными полосковыми проводниками, расположенными на разных сторонах подвешенной диэлектрической подложки, причем у каждого проводника один конец замкнут на экран, а другой – свободен. Резонаторы попарно связаны перекрывающимися участками полосковых проводников, что приводит не только к уменьшению габаритов устройства, но и к повышению его селективности за счет образования нулей коэффициента передачи вблизи полосы пропускания. Перспективность предложенной конструкции доказывают измеренные характеристики фильтра шестого порядка, выполненного на подложке из керамики ТБНС с относительной диэлектрической проницаемостью er = 80 толщиной 0,5 мм. Центральная частота полосы пропускания фильтра f0 = 150 МГц, ее относительная ширина Δf/f0 = 25 %, при этом габариты устройства 42 × 20 × 8,25 мм3 (0,02λ0 × 0,01λ0 × 0,005λ0, где λ0 – длина волны в вакууме на частоте f0). Фильтр обладает высокой крутизной склонов полосы пропускания и протяженной полосой заграждения, которая по уровню –50 дБ простирается до частоты 3f0.A resonator based bandpass filter miniature design formed by two U-shaped metal strip conductors located at different sides of a suspended dielectric substrate is developed. In each conductor one end is grounded to the screen and the other is free. A resonators are connected in pairs with overlapping sections of strip conductors, it leads not only to the reduction in the dimensions of the device, but also to the increase in its selectivity due to transmission zeros near the passband. The prospects of the proposed design are proved by the measured characteristics of the 6th-order filter made on a substrate with the relative permittivity er = 80 (TBNS-ceramic) and the thickness of 0.5 mm. The filter passband central frequency f0 = 150 MHz, and the fractional bandwidth Δf/f0 = 25 %, while the size of the device is only 42 × 20 × 8.25 мм3 (0.02λ0 × 0.01λ0 × 0.005λ0, where λ0 is the wavelength at the center frequency f0). The filter has high slope steepness and a wide stopband, which extends up to the frequency of 3f0 at the level of –50 dB.

Аннотация: A comparison is made of the characteristics of bandpass filters consisting of two interacting resonators, which are either half-wave or quarter-wave segments of microstrip transmission lines with the same widths of strip conductors. Plates with a thickness of 0.5 mm made of TBNS high-frequency ceramics with a relative permittivity ε = 80 were used as substrates for microstrip structures. The structures having a maximum coupling region of the resonators and the maximum value of their coupling to external ports with a wave impedance of 50 Ω were studied. The filters were tuned by selecting the gap between the strip conductors so that the maximum reflection level in the passband was equal to –20 dB. Electromagnetic simulation of 3D models showed that the fractional bandwidth of filters based on quarter-wave resonators is almost 2 times wider than the bandwidth of filters based on half-wave resonators, and this fact is confirmed by the measurement results. The discovered effect is explained by twice the characteristic impedance of a quarter-wave resonator relative to a half-wave one.

Аннотация: The paper is devoted to simulation, designing and fabrication of a microstrip 5-order bandstop rejecting filter. The bandstop filter uses classic schem, e.g. it consists of a microstrip through (common) line whose ends serve input and output ports. In the vicinity of the line a number of microstrip rejecting resonators locate, in our case five S-shaped resonators. They electromagnetically interact with the line, that forces signals, having frequenscies, bieng equal to the resonant ones, to reject (reflect) from a device. Dielectric substrate of the device has thickness 1.0 mm, and other sizes are 44.0×20.0 mm 2 . The filter described in this work has shielding. In a band 1480 MHz …1499 MHz rejection exceeds 50 dB. Transmission bands at a level –2 dB are 0…1437 MHz and 1563 MHz…3000 MHz lower and upper correspondingly. Return loss in the passbands does not exceed –16 dB (VSWR≤1.4). Good agreement is observed between simulated and experimental data. Fabricated filter has small size.

Аннотация: A half-wave microstrip resonator design with an irregular strip conductor short-circuited to the screen by its ends has been investigated. Based on the resonances of the first two oscillatory modes of this resonator, a miniaturized second-order filter with a fractional bandwidth from 40% to 90% has been implemented, which has a wide high-frequency stopband. A prototype of the designed eight-order filter based on four dual-mode resonators with a passband center frequency of 2 GHz and a fractional bandwidth of 40% has been fabricated on an alumina substrate 45.0 × 10.5 × 1.0 mm3 in size with a permittivity of ε = 9.8. The filter frequency response slopes are extremely steepness due to two attenuation poles located on the left and right sides of the passband. The experimental characteristics of the prototype are in good agreement with the data of the numerical electromagnetic simulation of the 3D model of the filter.

Аннотация: The article presents the results of measuring the generation of the second harmonic in a microstrip transmission line and in a quarter-wavelength stepped-impedance microstrip resonator with a thin permalloy magnetic film (Ni80Fe20 ). The measurements were carried out for three samples with different thicknesses – 50 nm, 75 nm and 100 nm, at an input signal excitation frequency of 1 GHz and maximum input power of ~3500 mW. It was shown that the level of the second harmonic rises as the TMF thickness increases. It was found that a 100-nm sample generates the second harmonic more efficiently due to the larger ΔH FMR and the larger amount of magnetic material involved in the process of nonlinear conversion of the input power. It was shown that the resonator-based frequency doubler has a conversion factor ~4500 times higher than that of the doubler based on the microstrip line due to the higher value of the loaded Q-factor. Therefore, a quarter-wavelength stepped-impedance microstrip resonator can be used as a frequency doubler.

Аннотация: Bound states in the continuum (BICs) provide a viable way of achieving high-Q resonances in both photonics and acoustics. In this work, we propose a general method of constructing Friedrich-Wintgen (FW) BICs and accidental BICs in a coupled acoustic waveguide-resonator system. We demonstrate that FW BICs can be achieved with arbitrary two degenerate resonances in a closed resonator, regardless of whether they have the same or opposite parity. Moreover, their eigenmode profiles can be arbitrarily engineered by adjusting the position of the attached waveguide. This suggests an effective way of continuously switching the nature of the BICs from FW BICs to symmetry-protected BICs or accidental BICs. Also, such BICs are sustained in the coupled waveguide-resonator system with shapes such as rectangles, ellipses, and rhomboids. These interesting phenomena are well explained by the two-level effective non-Hermitian Hamiltonian, where two strongly coupled degenerate modes play a major role in forming such FW BICs. Additionally, we find that such an open system also supports accidental BICs in geometry space instead of momentum space via tuning the position of the attached waveguide, which is attributed to the quenched coupling between the waveguide and eigenmodes of the closed cavity. Finally, we fabricate a series of three-dimensional coupled resonator waveguides and experimentally verify the existence of FW BICs and accidental BICs by measuring the transmission spectra. Our results complement the current BIC library in acoustics and provide nice routes for designing acoustic devices, such as acoustic absorbers, filters, and sensors.

Аннотация: Разработана новая миниатюрная монолитная конструкция полосно-пропускающего фильтра, которая может изготавливаться по технологии многослойных печатных плат. Каждый резонатор в фильтре образован вставленными друг в друга металлическими спиралями левой и правой закрутки, у которых одна пара смежных концов замкнута на экран, а другая – свободна. Витки из полосковых проводников в форме одинаковых прямоугольных рамок выполнены на диэлектрических пластинах и располагаются в многослойной структуре строго друг под другом с чередованием витков левой и правой спиралей. Конструкция фильтра на таких многопроводниковых двуспиральных резонаторах имеет не только малые размеры, но и обладает высокой селективностью, что доказывают измеренные характеристики фильтра четвертого порядка, резонаторы которого изготовлены на пяти диэлектрических слоях из материала RO4350BTM. Центральная частота полосы пропускания фильтра f0 = 60 МГц, ее относительная ширина Δf / f0 = 18 %, при этом размеры устройства 34 × 16.5 × 4.3 мм3 (0.007λ0 × 0.003λ0 × 0.001λ0, где λ0 ‒ длина волны в вакууме на частоте f0). Фильтр обладает протяженной полосой заграждения, которая по уровню ‒38 дБ простирается до частоты 16f0.A new miniature monolithic bandpass filter, which can be manufactured using multilayer standard all-PCB technology, is presented. Each resonator in the filter is formed by metal spirals of the left and right wist inserted into each other, in which one pair of adjacent ends is grounded, and the other is free. Spiral inductors have the form of identical rectangular frames and are designed on dielectric substrates, located on a multilayer structure strictly under each other with alternating turns of the left and right spirals. The design of the filter based on such multilayer double-spiral resonators is both small in size, and highly selective, which is proved by the measured characteristics of the fourth order filter fabricated at seven dielectric layers of RO4350B material. The filter has the central frequency of the passband f0 = 60 MHz, and the fractional bandwidth Δf / f0 = 18%, while the size of the device is of the device are only 34 × 16.5 × 4.3 mm3 (0.007λ0 × 0.003λ0 × 0.001λ0, where λ0 is the wavelength at the center frequency f0). The filter has a wide stopband, which extends up to the frequency of 16f0 at a level of –38 dB.

Аннотация: Using numerical micromagnetic modeling, we have investigated the development of domain structure and magnetization reversal in multilayer thin-film structures. The permalloy (Ni80Fe20) magnetic layers had the inplane uniaxial and perpendicular magnetic anisotropy. We found that as the thickness of nonmagnetic interlayers decreases, the in-plane configuration of magnetic moments in the permalloy layers transforms from a single domain state to stripe domains, which is caused by the increase of magnetostatic interaction between layers. In structures with "thick" interlayers, even weak magnetostatic interaction enforces the neighboring single domain permalloy layers to have opposite orientations of magnetic moments. The saturation field of such samples increases linearly with the number of layers. By analyzing the dynamic characteristics of multilayers, we determined the optimum number of layers ensuring the maximum conversion efficiency of wideband microwave microstrip sensors of weak magnetic fields.

Аннотация: The characteristics of a frequency doubler on a resonant microstrip structure with a thin magnetic film were studied theoretically. The electrodynamic calculation of the structure was performed within the quasi-static approximation. Nonlinear response of film magnetization was calculated taking into account the second-order terms in the Landau-Lifshitz equation. The frequency response of the microstrip resonator was calculated. It was shown that due to the use of the resonant circuit, high efficiency of the input signal energy conversion into the output signal at a doubled frequency was achieved. The optimal values of the magnitude and direction of an external static magnetic field, which ensure the maximum output power at a doubled frequency, were determined.

Аннотация: It is shown that for an optimal substrate thickness ALD technology will be promising for IF bandpass filter designing. A two-conductor stripline ALD resonator with central frequency 200 MHz will have Q-factor 53 with total length 3.7 mm (0.0025λg) and the frequency separation of the first and the second oscillation modes up to 59. Two bandpass filters for VHF and UHF designed and fabricated for commercial application display good agreement between the simulation and the experiment. A 3-pole bandpass filter with central frequency 255 MHz and lateral size 15.8×3.2 mm2 has stopband width 13.5f0 , and a 6-pole bandpass filter with central frequency 1250 MHz and lateral size 4.4×5.1 mm2 has stopband width 9.4f0.

Аннотация: New microstrip designs of bandpass filters have been developed on the basis of a low-pass filter with some or all of the sections of the high-impedance microstrip lines connected to a screen by stubs. The filters exhibit the high frequency selectivity and their fractional bandwidth falls within the range of 30–150%. An experimental sample filter with a passband center frequency of 2 GHz and a fractional bandwidth of 70% formed on a 1-mm-thick alumina substrate has a substrate area of ​​46 × 21 mm. It is shown that the measured frequency responses of the filter are in good agreement with those calculated using the numerical electrodynamic analysis of its 3D model.

Аннотация: A new monolithic design of a miniature bandpass filter for manufacture by means of multilayer printed-circuit-board technology has been developed. It is demonstrated using a fourth-order filter that multi-conductor strip resonators used in the design ensure both miniaturization and high selectivity of the device. The passband center frequency of the manufactured filter is f0 = 546 MHz, the fractional bandwidth is Δf/f0 = 25%, and the insertion loss is 0.8 dB. The filter has a wide high-frequency stopband, which extends up to a frequency of 10f0 at a level of –30 dB. The filter dimensions are 15.0 × 12.0 × 4.3 mm (0.027λ0 × 0.021λ0 × 0.007λ0, where λ0 is the wavelength in vacuum at frequency f0) and the mass is only 1.8 g. The performances of the filter and the accessibility of its design for surface mounting show that the device has great potential.

Аннотация: A new miniature design of a highly selective lowpass filter based on a suspended substrate with a two-sided stripline pattern has been developed. The filter frequency response slope (cutoff attenuation rate) and stopband attenuation depth are determined by transmission zeros, the number of which is equal to the filter order. An experimental prototype of a fifth-order lowpass filter on 0.5-mm-thick alumina substrate with dielectric permittivity ε = 9.8 has been synthesized with the aid of numerical electrodynamic analysis of a three-dimensional model. The cutoff frequency of the filter passband at a –1-dB level is fc = 1.75 GHz. The stopband width at a –100-dB attenuation level reaches 4.4fc.

Аннотация: A novel multimode resonator is proposed, containing five resonant modes that are incorporated in the passband forming. The structure is based on a dielectric substrate suspended in a metallic case that allows solving the problem of electromagnetic compatibility. Due to features of the resonator's structure, several higher modes do not excite that significantly improves the performance of the filter's stopband. The resonator advantages are proved on the bandpass filter (3.1…10.6 GHz) with a small overall size (0.19λ0 × 0.11λ0 × 0.11λ0) and a good stopband performance (first spurious band locates at 29 GHz and suppression is 70 dB).

Аннотация: We consider the bound states in the continuum (BICs) or embedded trapped modes in an open spherical acoustic resonator. The eigenfrequencies of closed resonator are 2l+1-fold degenerated, where l is the orbital index. An attachment of two cylindrical waveguides lifts this degeneracy and transforms the eigenfrequencies into resonances whose real parts depend on the position of the waveguides. When the waveguides are angled by θ ≠ π, variation over that angle gives rise to avoided crossings of resonant modes with different l to result in the Friedrich-Wintgen BICs. For θ = π there might be only the symmetry protected BICs. When three waveguides are connected to the spherical resonator the Friedrich-Wintgen BICs occur due to the avoided crossings of resonant modes with the same l but different azimuthal indices -l ≤ m ≤ l.

Аннотация: A structure that consists of a λ/4 stepped-impedance microstrip resonator is proposed as an instrument for the investigation of nonlinear effects in thin magnetic films and also can be used as a microwave frequency doubler. A conversion efficiency of 0.65% is observed at a one-layer 100 nm Ni80Fe20 thin film at an input signal level of 4.6 W for a 1 GHz probe signal. The maximum measured conversion efficiency (1% at 1 GHz) was achieved for the 9-layer Ni80Fe20 film where 150 nm magnetic layers were separated by SiO2 layers.
