Аннотация: Исследовано влияние многократного отражения при электронном транспорте на вольт-амперную характеристику адсорбированного магнитного атома с одноионной анизотропией. Для учета вкладов всех порядков теории возмущений по параметрам связи контактов с многоуровневой примесью применены операторы Хаббарда и диаграммная техника Келдыша. Показано, что в режиме сильной неравновесности вольт-амперные характеристики рассмотренной системы содержат участки с отрицательной дифференциальной проводимостью. Обсуждаются способы увеличения этого эффекта.

Аннотация: В приближении сильной связи при использовании формализма Ландауэра-Бюттикера исследованы транспортные свойства одномерной цепочки, согнутой в форме квадрата при учете спин-орбитального взаимодействия Рашбы. Обнаружено, что такая геометрия устройства, приводит к возникновению антирезонансов Фано. Показано, что при критической величине спин-орбитального взаимодействия, когда характеристическая длина, связанная с величиной спин-орбитального взаимодействия, совпадает с длиной стороны квадрата, возникает полное отражение от устройства. При величине параметра спин-орбитального взаимодействия близкого к критическому значению прохождение электрона возможно только при энергиях, находящихся в пределах узких интервалов.

Аннотация: By using a simple model we consider single-channel transmission through a double quantum dot that consists of two single dots coupled by a wire of finite length L. Each of the two single dots is characterized by a few energy levels only, and the wire is assumed to have only one level whose energy depends on the length L. The transmission is described by using S matrix theory and the effective non-Hermitian Hamilton operator H-eff of the system. The decay widths of the eigenstates of H-eff depend strongly on energy. The model explains the origin of the transmission zeros of the double dot that is considered by us. Mostly, they are caused by (destructive) interferences between neighboring levels and are of first order. When, however, both single dots are identical and their transmission zeros are of first order, those of the double dot are of second order. First-order transmission zeros cause phase jumps of the transmission amplitude by pi, while there are no phase jumps related to second-order transmission zeros. In this latter case, a phase jump occurs due to the fact that the width of one of the states vanishes when crossing the energy of the transmission zero. The parameter dependence of the widths of the resonance states is determined by the spectral properties of the two single dots.

Аннотация: We have calculated the admittance of a two-dimensional quantum point contact (QPC) using a novel variant of the Wigner distribution function (WDF) formalism. In the semiclassical approximation, a Boltzmann-like equation is derived for the partial WDF describing both propagating and non-propagating electron modes in an effective potential generated by the adiabatic QPC. We show that this quantum kinetic approach leads to the well known stepwise behaviour of the real part of the admittance (the conductance), and of the imaginary part of the admittance (the emittance), in agreement with the latest results derived by Christen and Buttiker, which is determined by the number of propagating electron modes. It is shown that the emittance is sensitive to the geometry of the QPC, and can be controlled by the gate voltage. We have established that the emittance has contributions corresponding to both quantum inductance and quantum capacitance. Stepwise oscillations in the quantum inductance are determined by the harmonic mean of the velocities for the propagating modes, whereas the quantum capacitance is a significant mesoscopic manifestation of the nonpropagating (reflecting) modes.

Аннотация: The negative magnetoresistance of thin In2O3 films, obtained by an autowave oxidation reaction, was detected within a temperature range of 4.2-80 K. The magnetoresistance was -1.35% at a temperature of 4.2 K and an external magnetic field of 1 T. A weak localization theory was used to explain the negative magnetoresistance and to determine the phase-coherence length in a temperature range of 4.2-80 K. The phase-coherence length was found to oscillate as the temperatures increased to around 30 K. From the maximum and minimum values of the oscillation of the phase-coherence length, it was suggested that the In2O3 film has two structure characteristic parameters. Transmission electron microscopy showed the structure of the thin In2O3 film to have structural features of a crystal phase- amorphous phase. It was found that the crystalline phase characteristic size was consistent with the maximum phase-coherence length and the amorphous phase characteristic size was consistent with the minimum phase-coherence length. It has been suggested that the temperature measurements of the magnetoresistance and the theory of weak localization can be used to evaluate the structural features of nanocomposite or nanostructured thin films. Аннотация: Potentialities of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in petroleum research are analyzed. Major attention is paid to technical features of the method as applied to oil extraction and preparation. Available published data are systematized. Four key directions of MRI, which undergo active development now, are distinguished: oil in a porous matrix; oil interfaces; destabilization of petroleum systems; transport of crude oils and petroleum systems. Key studies in this field are considered, essential points reflecting the MRI efficiency are presented, and the range of problems that can be solved using MRI, including prospects for further expansion of the application fields, is outlined. The possibilities of studying the morphological, structural, and dynamic aspects of the interaction of crude oils with the environment and the phase behavior of oils under the conditions of intense external actions are discussed. The review favors expansion of the experimental potential of specialists in the field of oil extraction, preparation, and refining, and also in the adjacent fields of physical and colloidal chemistry, chemistry of surface phenomena, and macromolecular chemistry.

Аннотация: We study classical and quantum scattering properties of particles in the ballistic regime in two-dimensional chaotic billiards that are models of electron- or micro-waveguides. To this end we construct the purely classical counterparts of the scattering probability (SP) matrix \S(n,m)\(2) and Husimi distributions specializing to the case of mixed chaotic motion (incomplete horseshoe). Comparison between classical and quantum quantities allows us to discover the purely classical dynamical origin of certain general as well as particular features that appear in the quantum description of the system. On the other hand, at certain values of energy the tunneling of the wave function into classically forbidden regions produces striking differences between the classical and quantum quantities. A potential application of this phenomenon in the field of microlasers is discussed briefly. We also see the manifestation of whispering gallery orbits as a self-similar structure in the transmission part of the classical SP matrix.

Аннотация: Although mining and mineral processing industry is a vast source of heavy metal pollutants, the formation and behavior of micrometer- and nanometer-sized particles and their aqueous colloids entered the environment from the technological media has received insufficient attention to date. Here, the yield and characteristics of ultrafine mineral entities produced by routine grinding of the Pb-Zn sulfide ore (Gorevskoe ore deposit, Russia) were studied using laser diffraction analysis (LDA), dynamic light scattering (DLS) and zeta potential measurement, microscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, with most attention given to toxic lead species. It was revealed, in particular, that the fraction of particles less that 1 ?m in the ground ore typical reaches 0.4 vol. %. The aquatic particles in supernatants were micrometer size aggregates with increased content of zinc, sulfur, calcium as compared with the bulk ore concentrations. The hydrodynamic diameter of the colloidal species decreased with time, with their zeta potentials remaining about -12 mV. The colloids produced from galena were composed of 20-50 nm PbS nanoparticles associated with lead sulfate and thiosulfate, while the surface oxidation products at precipitated galena were largely lead oxyhydroxides. The size and zeta potential of the lead-bearing colloids decreased with time down to about 100 nm and from -15 mV to -30 mV, respectively. And, conversely, lead sulfide nanoparticles were mobilized before the aggregates during redispersion of the precipitates in fresh portions of water. The potential environmental impact of the metal-bearing colloids, which is due to the large-scale production and relative stability, is discussed. © 2015 Elsevier Ltd.

Аннотация: The spectrum of the two-particle spin-singlet (DeltaS(z) = 0, +/-1) excitations of a weakly coupled antiferromagnetic spin-1/2 alternating (J(1) +/- delta) chain is calculated using a mean-field approximation for the interchain exchange (J(2)) by the quantum Monte Carlo method. The bandwidth change of these excitations, the mass gaps in the singlet-singlet excitation spectrum, the top boundaries of the bands and the velocities of these excitations are estimated as functions of the alternating bond delta. The temperatures at which the singlet gaps close are determined.

Аннотация: The electrical properties of a system of nanogranular amorphous Fe–SiO films with a SiO concentration between 0 and 92 vol % have been investigated. The samples with a low SiO content are characterized by the metal-type conductivity. With an increase in the dielectric content x in the films, the concentration transition from the metal to tunneling conductivity occurs at x ≈ 0.6. At the same concentration, the ferromagnet–superparamagnet transition is observed, which was previously investigated by the magnetic method. The temperature dependences of the electrical resistivity ρ(T) for the compositions corresponding to the dielectric region obey the law ρ(T) ~ exp(2(C/kT)1/2), which is typical of the tunneling conductivity. The estimation of the metal grain sizes from the tunneling activation energy C has shown good agreement with the sizes obtained previously by analyzing the magnetic properties. In the dielectric region of the compositions, the giant magnetoresistive effect attaining 25% at low temperatures has been obtained.

Аннотация: The results of the study of transport properties (temperature dependences of resistivity and critical current, current-voltage characteristics) of two-phase composites on the basis of Y3/4Lu1/4Ba2Cu3O7 high-temperature superconductor (HTSC) produced by fast baking technique and modelling networks of Josephson-type weak links are reported. Non-superconducting ingredients with different magnetic structures, insulators and normal metals, function as barriers between HTSC crystallites. Besides strong suppression of superconducting properties in HTSC composites with magnetic barriers, anomalous behavior of temperature dependences of resistivity below T-c of HTSC grains have been observed and investigated.

Аннотация: Composites simulating a network of weak metallic links and consisting of a classic 1-2-3 HTSC and a BaPbO3 metal oxide with incorporated Sn, Ni, and Fe impurities have been prepared. Experimental resistivity, magnetic, and Mossbauer studies of the BaPb(0.9)Met(0.1)O(3) nonsuperconducting components are presented. The transport properties of the HTSC + BaPb(0.9)Met(0.1)O(3) composites have been investigated. The superconducting properties of the composites are observed to be suppressed, both when the carrier mean free path in nonsuperconducting components with tin impurities decreases, and as a result of an additional interaction of the magnetic moments of (Fe, Ni) impurities with the spins of supercurrent carriers. The experimental temperature dependences of the composite critical current are analyzed in terms of the de Gennes theory for the superconductor-normal metal-superconductor structures. Аннотация: Results are presented of an experimental study of the temperature dependence of the electrical resistivity rho(T), critical current density J(c)(T), and current-voltage characteristics of polycrystalline composites based on the high-temperature superconductor Y3/4Lu1/4Ba2Cu3O7 and copper oxide with different lithium doping levels. The experimental temperature dependence of the critical current of composites with varying volume content of the semiconductor ingredient and varying charge carrier concentration are found to be in qualitative agreement with theory which takes account of Andreev reflection of the carriers at the S-Sm and Sm-S surfaces of the S-Sm-S Josephson junction (where S is the superconductor and Sm is the semiconductor). Аннотация: The results of experimental investigations of Fe1-xCo xSi crystals in the impurity limit are presented in this article. We made an attempt to study changes of magnetic properties and conductivity in mixed Fe1-xCoxSi crystals in the impurity limit. Magnetoresistance properties are well described in the framework of Kondo model. The presence of Co-subsystem leads to the occurrence of spin-dependent channel in electron scattering conduction.

Аннотация: Composites HTSC + semiconductor with different carrier concentrations were prepared as a model of Josephson type contacts. Experimental temperature dependences of the critical current density Jc(T) in the composites are presented. The best congruence of experiment with theory was reached for the Schussler-Kummel consideration of Andreev scattering in S-Sm-S (S-superconductor, Sm-semiconductor) junctions.

Аннотация: We have considered the Aharonov-Bohm ring which contains superconducting wire with Rashba spin-orbit interaction as a bridge connecting the arms. Using the nonequilibrium Green’s function technique and tight-binding approach transport properties of the device were calculated in linear-response regime. It was shown that the in-plane magnetic-field dependence of conductance has two types of resonance features. If the bridge is in topologically trivial phase and its lowest excitation energy is nonzero the conventional Breit-Wigner peaks defined by the arm energy emerge. When the bridge phase changes to the nontrivial one the Fano resonances appear as a result of the interference of Majorana and arm transport channels. The width of such resonances substantially depends on the degree of localization of the Majorana state. Thus, the considered device can be used to detect these states. Additionally, the effect of Aharonov-Bohm phase on the Fano resonances was analyzed.
