Аннотация: The behavior of the hysteresis of the magnetoresistance R(H) of granular high-temperature superconductors has been investigated under the conditions where the resistive response of the subsystem of grain boundaries close to saturation. The hysteretic dependences R(H) have been measured for Y1-xPrxBa2Cu3O7 samples at x = 0.11 and 0.04 with the transition temperatures T-C approximate to 85.5 and 91.0 K, respectively. The evolution of the field width of the hysteresis R(H) has been examined by varying the measuring current. The limit of the applicability has been established for the concept of the effective field in the intergranular medium, which was previously proposed for the description of the hysteretic behavior of the magnetoresistance R(H) and thermal magnetic prehistory of the granular high-temperature superconductors. In the studied samples, the approximation of the effective field in the intergranular medium is applicable until the magnetoresistance of the subsystem of grain boundaries exceeds (90 +/- 5)% of the maximum value.

Аннотация: The fractal dimension of the boundaries of clusters formed by pores and granules in polycrystalline materials is shown to be determined by the sample density and crystallite sizes. The dependence of the fractal dimension on the density has a maximum. It is shown that the maximum diamagnetic response can be obtained in a porous high-temperature superconductor with a porosity of 50-60% and small crystallite sizes.

Аннотация: Исследовано влияние многократного отражения при электронном транспорте на вольт-амперную характеристику адсорбированного магнитного атома с одноионной анизотропией. Для учета вкладов всех порядков теории возмущений по параметрам связи контактов с многоуровневой примесью применены операторы Хаббарда и диаграммная техника Келдыша. Показано, что в режиме сильной неравновесности вольт-амперные характеристики рассмотренной системы содержат участки с отрицательной дифференциальной проводимостью. Обсуждаются способы увеличения этого эффекта.

Аннотация: In this study, the superconducting Nd(Ba,Nd)2.1Cu3O7−δ system has been prepared using conventional solid-state reaction technique. Transport properties including structural/microstructural evolution, electrical, magnetic and critical current density properties were investigated. After high temperature heat treatments at over 1,000 °C, large and strongly connected grains were obtained but weakly connected and small in size granular formation were obtained for the low temperature heat treated samples at around 900 °C. The best T c and T 0 values were obtained as 93 and 89 K respectively for the sample prepared at 1,020 °C for 24 h, which is very close to peritectic temperature of YBCO material. Magnetization of the sample heat treated at 1,020 °C was investigated in detail. The magnetization hysteresis loops are expounded to be the product of Nd-123 grains and unscreened Nd3+ ions within intergranular boundaries and vortex cores. The peak effect on the magnetization curves was described by the extended critical state model. Temperature dependencies of the irreversibility field, the peak field and the full penetration field correlate and there is scaling behavior of the pinning force as well. Thermoelectric power data was analyzed by “Modified two band model with linear T-term for superconductors”. Temperature dependence of thermal conductivity of the samples showed small peak with broad maximum just below the T c value. Thermal conductivity of samples prepared was calculated by using “The Modified Callaway Model and Wiedermann–Franz law” and results obtained discussed.

Аннотация: This paper studies the quantum dynamics of a charged particle in a two-dimensional square lattice, under the influence of electric and magnetic fields, the former being aligned with one of the lattice axes and the latter perpendicular to the lattice plane. While in free space these dynamics consist of uniform motions in the direction orthogonal to the electric field vector, we find that, in a lattice, this directed drift takes place only for specific initial conditions and for electric field magnitudes smaller than a critical value. Otherwise, the quantum wave packet spreads ballistically in both directions orthogonal to the electric field. We quantify this ballistic spreading and identify the subspace of initial conditions ensuring directed transport with the drift velocity. We also describe the effect of disorder in the system. Аннотация: Pronounced optical- and bias-current-sensitive features of the transport properties of a Fe/SiO 2/p-Si hybrid structure in planar geometry at temperature variation are investigated. Comparative analysis of two Fe/SiO 2/p-Si samples, one with a continuous Fe film and the other with two electrodes formed from a Fe layer and separated by a micron gap, shows that these features are due to the MIS transition with a Schottky barrier near the interface between SiO 2 and p- Si. Resistance of such a MIS transition depends exponentially on temperature and bias. In the structure with a continuous ferromagnetic film, the competition between conductivities of the MIS transition and the Fe layer results in the effect of current channel switching between the Fe layer and a semiconductor substrate. Within certain limits, this process can be controlled by a bias current and optical radiation. The mechanism of the optical effect is photogeneration of electron-hole pairs in the semiconductor substrate near its boundary with SiO 2 layer. В© (2012) Trans Tech Publications.

Аннотация: The existence of space inhomogeneous superconductor insulator state (SISIS) found out earlier in polycrystalline samples of high-Tc system Ba0.6K0.4BiO3 (Tc?30 K) is confirmed on Ba0.6K0.4BiO3 single crystal. At T* (T*<Tc, T*?17 K) the transition from the homogeneous superconducting state into the SISIS occurs. SISIS is characterized by the appearance of two gapes on the Fermi surface: semi- and superconducting, that are modulated in space in antiphase, the electric transport between superconducting regions being carried out due to Josephson tunneling. Thus the whole sample becomes a multiple Josephson system. Nonlinear I-V curves, depended on temperature and magnetic field, that are typical to a Josephson system, are observed on Ba0.6K0.4BiO3 single crystal at temperatures below T*. Besides, a step like peculiarity at the values of voltage of the order of one and two superconducting gaps shows up. These peculiarities are suppressed by magnetic field much earlier then critical current. Perhaps the last phenomenon is the consequence of "coherent" state of several successive Josephson junctions, appeared in the exfoliation state. В© Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Аннотация: Pronounced magnetic-field- and bias-sensitive features of the transport properties of a Fe/SiO2/p-Si hybrid structure in planar geometry at temperature variation are investigated. Comparative analysis of two Fe/SiO 2/p-Si samples, one with a continuous Fe film and the other with two electrodes formed from a Fe layer and separated by a micron gap, shows that these features are due to the metal-insulator-semiconductor (MIS) transition with a Schottky barrier near the interface between SiO2 and p-Si. Resistance of such a MIS transition depends exponentially on temperature and bias. In the structure with a continuous ferromagnetic film, the competition between conductivities of the MIS transition and the Fe layer results in the effect of current channel switching between the Fe layer and a semiconductor substrate. Within certain limits, this process can be controlled by a bias current and a magnetic field. Positive magnetoresistance of the structures at high temperatures is determined, most likely, by disorder-induced weak localization. In the structure with the gap, negative magnetoresistance is observed at certain temperature and bias. Its occurrence should be attributed to an inversion layer formed in the semiconductor near the SiO2/p-Si interface when MIS transition is in the inversion regime. Аннотация: The effect of multiple reflection in the process of electron transport on the current-voltage characteristics of an adsorbed magnetic atom with single-ion anisotropy has been investigated. All orders of the perturbation theory with respect to the parameter of coupling between the contacts and the multilevel impurity have been taken into account by the Keldysh diagram technique with the use of Hubbard operators. It has been shown that the current-voltage characteristics of the system in a strongly nonequilibrium regime contains regions of negative differential conductance. The ways of enhancing this effect are discussed.

Аннотация: Different phenomena that give rise to a spin-polarized current in some systems with magnetic tunnel junctions are considered. In a manganite-based magnetic tunnel structure in CIP geometry, the effect of current-channel switching was observed, which causes bias-driven magnetoresistance, rf rectification, and the photoelectric effect. The second system under study, ferromagnetic/insulator/semiconductor, exhibits the features of the transport properties in CIP geometry that are also related to the current-channel switching effect. The described properties can be controlled by a bias, a magnetic field, and optical radiation. At last, the third system under consideration is a cooperative assembly of magnetic tunnel junctions. This system exhibits tunnel magnetoresistance and the magnetic-field-driven microwave detection effect. (C) 2012 Elsevier BY. All rights reserved.

Аннотация: H-1 magnetic resonance microtomography imaging was applied to study vascular systems in developing bean (Phaseolus limensis L.) seeds. Using the gradient echo method, we recorded 2D tomographic sections in the sagittal and axial planes of the fruits sampled from a vegetating plant on days 10, 17, 24, and 31 after fertilization. Any vascular connection between the tissues of maternal plant (bean pod and seed coat) and the embryo were undetectable. The embryo has an autonomous branched network of procambial strands in the cotyledons, converging to the embryonic axis. The bean pods are covered with a network of vascular bundles; large vascular strands run along the dorsal and ventral sutures. The seed coat vascular bundles are formed in the process of seed ripening and are represented by a developed vascular system multiply branching in the middle part of the ground parenchyma at the stage of physiological maturity. They are connected with the source of assimilates via the lateral pod veins and a large vascular bundle, entering the seed below the hilum via the placenta. Assimilates enter the external part of the seed coat, which contains no vascular bundles, via the funiculus vascular bundles and hilum tissue.

Аннотация: The electrical resistance of FeBO3 crystals at high and ultrahigh pressures (up to 198 GPa) and low temperatures has been measured using diamond anvil cells. It has found that in the high-pressure phase, 46 GPa ‹ P‹ 100 GPa, the activation energy E-ac decreases gradually from 0.55 to 0.3 eV according to a linear law. Its extrapolation to zero gives an estimated value of about 210 GPa for the pressure at which complete metallization is expected. However, above 100 GPa, the linear E-ac(P) dependence smoothly transforms to a nonlinear one. At the same time, the temperature dependence of the electrical resistance at fixed pressure significantly deviates from the Arrhenius activation law and does not obey the Mott law for the hopping conductivity. Experimental data demonstrate the dependence of the activation energy E-ac both on pressure and temperature. At T = 0, the gap tends to zero. Theoretical analysis shows that the decrease in E-ac upon cooling can be interpreted in terms of the transition of the low-spin FeBO3 phase to the magnetically ordered (anti-ferromagnetic) state.

Аннотация: Energy spectra and transport properties of armchair nanotubes with curvature induced spin-orbit interaction are investigated thoroughly. The spin-orbit interaction consists of two terms: the first one preserves the spin symmetry in rotating frame, while the second one breaks it. It is found that the both terms are equally important: (i) at scattering on the potential step which mimics a long-range potential in the nanotubes; (ii) at transport via nanotube quantum dots. It is shown that an armchair nanotube with the first spin-orbit term works as an ideal spin-filter, while the second term produces a parasitic inductance.

Аннотация: We present the results of investigations of the spin-polarized current and spin dynamics in the hybrid structures ferrimagnetic insulator/ferromagnetic metal subjected to microwave radiation. We studied the La0.7Sr0.3MnO3/Y3Fe5O12 bilayer films on the Gd3Ga5O12 substrate. It was experimentally established that under the action of spin pumping the resistance of the La0.7Sr0.3MnO3 film changes. The value of ?R is maximum in the sample with a La0.7Sr0.3MnO3 layer thickness of 10 nm and sharply drops as the manganite film thickness is increased. The resistance decreases in the paramagnetic region and grows in the ferromagnetic region at temperatures below the metal-insulator transition point. The variation in the resistance of the manganite film can be attributed to the correlation of the spin dynamics and transport properties of conduction electrons in the structure. © (2014) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.
