Аннотация: We investigate generating functions for equipped trees composed of double bonds of two sorts on a hypercubic lattice of dimension d with built-in fragments. Rules for constructing these clusters are chosen to ensure the estimate for coefficients of power series in time for the longitudinal and transverse autocorrelation functions of the spin system with axially symmetric interaction. We derive a system of two equations for the tree-generating functions and an equation for the generating functions of chains leading from the root to a fragment in a tree using the Bethe approximation and under the condition that mainly bonds of one sort are taken into account. For the face-centered hypercubic lattice, we find the First terms of the 1/d expansion for the coordinate of the singular point of the generating function in both the anisotropic and the isotropic cases taking fragments in the forms of a triangle from four bonds and a four-fold bound pair into account. The obtained result is written in terms of ratios of lattice sums and is generalized to nuclear spin systems with dipole-dipole interaction. The theoretical value of the singular-point coordinate agrees well with the experimental value calculated from the tail of the absorption spectrum of the nuclear magnetic resonance in a barium fluoride monocrystal.

Аннотация: Raman scattering spectra of RbMnCl3 are measured at room temperature under high hydrostatic pressure. The results are interpreted based on first principles lattice dynamics calculations. The experimental data obtained correlate with the calculations in the low frequency domain but disagree slightly in the region of high-frequency vibrations. The transition from the hexagonal to the cubic perovskite phase observed earlier (near 0.7 GPa) was confirmed, and new transitions to lower symmetry distorted phases were discovered (at 1.1 and 5 GPa). Аннотация: Cascade of phase transitions in GdFe3(BO3)(4) at 156, 37, and 9 K has been detected by specific heat measurements and further studied by Raman scattering and Nd3+ spectroscopic probe method. A weakly first-order structural phase transition at 156 K is followed by a second-order antiferromagnetic ordering phase transition at 37 K and a first-order spin-reorientational phase transition at 9 K. Аннотация: Calorimetric and high pressure experiments are used to establish thermodynamic features of (NH4)(3)M3+F6 cryolites with M3+: Ga, Sc as they undergo one and three structural phase transitions, respectively. The heat capacity measurements performed between 80 K and 370 K, using an adiabatic calorimeter, have shown that all phase transitions under study are first order with different closeness to the tricritical point. The total entropy change in the Sc compound connected with the successive transformations is almost equal to the entropy change in the Ga cryolite. The effect of hydrostatic pressure has been studied up to 0.6 GPa, using differential thermographic analysis. The p-T phase diagrams of both cryolites were found to be rather complicated, including triple points. The experimental results are considered as connected with order-disorder phase transitions.

Аннотация: By means of magnetic susceptibility and specific heat measurements, x-ray and unpolarized neutron diffraction investigations on powder and single-crystal samples, simultaneous long-range antiferromagnetic Fe and Nd ordering in NdFe3((BO3)-B-11)(4) with R32 chemical structure has been found at temperatures below T-N = 30.5(5) K down to 1.6 K. At temperatures down to 19 K the propagation vector is k(hex) = [0, 0, 3/2] and becomes slightly incommensurate at lower temperatures. Combined with symmetry analysis, best powder neutron profile fits are obtained with magnetic spiral configurations with the magnetic moments oriented parallel to the hexagonal basal plane according to the irreducible representations tau(3) in the commensurate case. This is in agreement with the easy directions of magnetization perpendicular to the c-axis as determined by magnetic susceptibility measurements. At 1.6 K the magnetic Fe moment amounts to 4.9 mu(B) B close to the free ion moment of Fe3+. The magnetic Nd3+ moment saturates presumably due to crystal-field effects at 2.7 mu(B).

Аннотация: The formalism of averaged Green's functions in the continuum is developed for spin waves in ferromagnets with inhomogeneities of the exchange constant and elastic waves in media with inhomogeneities of the force constant. The integral self-consisted equation in the coherent potential approximation is developed for taking into account effects of inhomogeneities of these nonlocal characteristics of the material on the wave spectrum in it. The obtained general results are applied to the study of effects of one-dimensional inhomogeneities of the exchange constant on the wave spectrum in a ferromagnet.

Аннотация: Single crystals of a noncentrosymmetric orthorhombic pyroelectric ferrimagnet Ga2 - xFexO3 with a Curie temperature within 260-345 K have been grown by the flux method. It has been found that the electrical properties of the single crystals varied over a broad range from 10(5) to 10(13) Omega cm depending on the presence of transition-metal oxide impurities. The dispersion relations for all three principal dielectric functions of orthorhombic GaFeO3 have been determined in the range 0.7-5.4 eV by spectroscopic ellipsometry. The spectra of the dielectric functions of the orthorhombic Ga2 - xFexO3 crystals are compared with the spectra of the trigonal crystals. The Faraday effect and second-harmonic generation are studied, and the law of the transition to the paramagnetic state has been determined. The crystallographic and magnetic contributions to the second-harmonic generation are analyzed. (C) 2005 Pleiades Publishing, Inc.

Аннотация: The theory of exchange narrowing of ferromagnetic and spin-wave resonance linewidths in ferromagnets with the randomly inhomogeneous magnetic anisotropy is developed. The calculation is carried out by the method of averaged Green functions in the framework of the coherent potential approximation (CPA). One- and three-dimensional inhomogeneities with an arbitrary correlation wave number k(c) are considered (r(c)=k(c)(-1) is the correlation radius of the inhomogeneities). The method of the approximate solution of the CPA equation is proposed which has the quick convergence. Effects of exchange narrowing of the magnetic resonance lines and shifts of these lines are calculated in the whole region of the values of the correlation wave number k(c). The approximate analytical expressions for the linewidth of the FMR in the limiting cases of the small and large k(c) are obtained. Large narrowing of the FMR and spin-wave linewidths with the decrease of the correlation, radius of inhomogeneities is the substantiation. of the main advantage of nanocrystalline and amorphous materials over usual polycrystals when they are used at high frequency devices.

Аннотация: Magnetic field effect on the structure of the ground state of a two-dimensional quantum Heisenberg magnet is analyzed. A plaquette representation is used to solve the self-consistent problem and calculate the collective excitation spectrum in a magnetic field. Conditions are found for quantum transition between non-magnetic and oblique antiferromagnetic phases. The change in the ground state of the system is associated with disappearance of the gap in the spin excitation spectrum. Effects of frustration and magnetic field on the spectrum are analyzed. A phase diagram of stable singlet and magnetically ordered phases is presented.
