Аннотация: We analyze the Wannier-Stark spectrum of a quantum particle in tilted two-dimensional lattices with the Bloch spectrum consisting of two subbands, which could be either separated by a finite gap or connected by the Dirac points. For rational orientations of the static field given by an arbitrary superposition of the translation vectors, the spectrum is a ladder of energy bands. We obtain asymptotic expressions for the energy bands in the limit of large and weak static fields and study them numerically for intermediate field strength. We show that the structure of energy bands determines the rate of spreading of localized wave packets, which is the quantity measured in laboratory experiments. It is shown that wave-packet dispersion becomes a fractal function of the field orientation in the long-time regime of ballistic spreading.

Аннотация: The ground state of a two-dimensional antiferromagnet with S = 1/2 interacting with acoustic phonons in a magnetic field was studied by the quantum Monte Carlo method in the nonadiabatic approximation. Oscillations of the amplitude of the root-mean-square displacement of ions and the average phonon occupation number in a magnetic field were found. Local maxima were revealed in the distribution functions of site magnetic moments and ion displacements. The saturation magnetization was calculated as a function of the spin-phonon coupling constant. (C) 2004 MAIK "Nauka / Interperiodica".

Аннотация: Wannier-Stark states for semiconductor superlattices in strong static fields, where the interband Landau-Zener tunneling cannot be neglected, are rigorously calculated. The lifetime of these metastable states was found to show multiscale oscillations as a function of the static field, which is explained by an interaction with above-barrier resonances. An equation, expressing the absorption spectrum of semiconductor superlattices in terms of the resonance Wannier-Stark states, is obtained and used to calculate the absorption spectrum in the region of high static fields.

Аннотация: A simple method of calculating the Wannier-Stark resonances in 2D lattices is suggested. Using this method we calculate the complex Wannier-Stark spectrum for a nonseparable 2D potential realized in optical lattices and analyze its general structure. The dependence of the lifetime of Wannier-Stark states on the direction of the static field (relative to the crystallographic axis of the lattice) is briefly discussed.
