Аннотация: We consider the problem of determining the parameters for high-T-c superconducting copper oxides. Alternative approaches, the ab initio LDA and LDA + U calculations and the generalized tight-binding (GTB) method for strongly correlated electron systems, are used to calculate hopping and exchange parameters of the effective singlet-triplet model for the CuO2 layer. The resulting parameters are in remarkably good agreement with each other and with parameters extracted from experiment. This set of parameters is proposed for proper quantitative description of the physics of hole-doped high-T-c cuprates in the framework of effective models. (C) 2004 MAIK "Nauka / Interperiodica".

Аннотация: A hybrid scheme for the electronic structure calculations of strongly correlated electron systems is proposed. The ab initio local density approximation calculation is used to construct the Wannier functions and obtain single electron and Coulomb parameters of the multiband Hubbard-type model. In strong correlation regime the electronic structure within multiband Hubbard model is calculated by the generalized tight-binding method, which combines the exact diagonalization of the model Hamiltonian for a small cluster (unit cell) with perturbation treatment of the intercluster hopping and interactions. For undoped La2CuO4 and Nd2CuO4 this scheme results in charge transfer insulators with correct values of gaps and dispersions of bands in agreement with the angle-resolved photoemission data.

Аннотация: The experimental results of the effect of the magnetic field (up to 60 kOe) on the broadening of the resistive transition of bulk composites Y3/4Lu1/4Ba2CU3O7 (YBCO) + CuO are presented. These composites represent the network of the tunnel-type Josephson junctions where the copper oxide acts as a material forming barriers between YBCO crystallites. The mechanisms responsible for broadening of the resistive transition under magnetic field are discussed. The analysis of experimental R(7) dependences have shown that in the low field range 0-10(2) Oe, the R(7) dependences are described well by the Ambegaokar-Halperin (AH) model. In the range 10(3)-6 x 10(4) Oe, the dissipation follows Arrhenius law R similar to exp(-U(H)/k(B)T) characteristic for thermally activated flux creep model. In the range H similar to 10(2)-10(3), the crossover from AH to flux creep dissipation mechanisms occurs. (c) 2006 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Аннотация: In the present work we report band structure calculations for the high-temperature superconductor Nd2-xCexCuO4 in the regime of strong electronic correlations within an LDA + GTB method, which combines the local density approximation (LDA) and the generalized tight-binding method (GTB). The two mechanisms of band structure doping dependence were taken into account. Namely, the one-electron mechanism provided by the doping dependence of the crystal structure, and the many-body mechanism provided by the strong renormalization of the fermionic quasiparticles due to the large on-site Coulomb repulsion. We have shown that, in the antiferromagnetic and in the strongly correlated paramagnetic phases of the underdoped cuprates, the main contribution to the doping evolution of the band structure and Fermi surface comes from the many-body mechanism.

Аннотация: The hysteretic behavior of critical current j(C)(H) and magneto-resistance R(H) of composites Y-Ba-Cu-O + CuO have been studied and presented. The composites represent the network of tunnel-type Josephson junctions where copper oxide acts as a material forming barriers between superconducting (YBCO) crystallites. Аннотация: Magnetoresistance curves R(H) and time relaxation of the residual resistance of bulk YBCO + CuO composites have been studied. These composites represent the network of Josephson junctions, where CuO acts as a barrier between YBCO grains. It has been shown that hysteresis of the R(H) dependences is related to the flux trapping within the YBCO crystallites. This flux induces magnetic field in the intergrain media. Time relaxation of the residual resistance is caused by relaxation of the magnetization of YBCO grains. The time dependence of the residual resistance obeys a logarithmic law, which describes the Anderson-like relaxation processes in the YBCO grains. (c) 2007 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Аннотация: The temperature evolution of in-gap states created by the spin polaron effect and located within the gap with charge transfer between the valence and conduction bands is studied for the case of strong electron correlations using the t-t'-t ''-J model of antiferromagnetic undoped cuprates. The effect of temperature is taken into account by temperature renormalization of the magnon concentration, which is calculated using the Heisenberg model with inclusion of weak interlayer exchange and weak in-plane spin anisotropy, and by introducing a Lorentzian with a temperature-dependent half-width in the form corresponding to the marginal Fermi liquid model. With increasing temperature, the spectral weight of the in-gap state, which is proportional to the magnon concentration, grows leading to an increased intensity of the corresponding peak of the spectral function in all points of the Brillouin zone. At points (pi/2, pi/2) and (pi, 0), the main peak is approached by the satellite peak related to the in-gap band and, at points (0, 0) and (pi, pi), the peaks move away from each other.

Аннотация: The time evolution of the magnetoresistance of bulk YBCO + CuO composites at T = 4.2 K in constant applied magnetic fields was studied to clarify the mechanism of hysteretic behavior of magnetoresistance R(H) of granular HTSC. The composites represent "model" granular HTSC with weakened Josephson coupling between superconducting (YBCO) crystallites. It was found for the first time that on the ascending branch of R(H) dependence, the resistance at H = const decreased with time while on the descending branch, the resistance increased with time in ail applied constant magnetic field. In the range of low magnetic fields (below the minimum point of the descending branch of the R(H) dependence), the resistance at H const decreased again. Similar measurements performed oil pure polycrystalline YBCO at T = 77.4 K have shown that the behavior of evolution of resistance with time is similar to that observed for the composite. This proves the peculiarity of time evolution of maignetoresistance to be a common feature of granular HTSCs. The behavior revealed is well described by the model Of granular HTSC, where the intergrain media is in an effective magnetic field which is the superposition of the external field and the field induced by superconducting grains. The time evolution of resistance reflects the time relaxation of magnetization of HTSC grains due to the intragrain flux Creep Processes. (C) 2008 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

Аннотация: We report on the results of measurements of anisotropic resistivity of RBa(2)Cu(3)O(6 + x) (R = Tm, Lu) high-temperature superconducting single crystals in a wide range of doping levels, indicating a nontrivial effect of magnetic order on the electronic properties of cuprates. In particular, our results visually demonstrate the crossover from the state with moderate anisotropy of resistivity rho (c) /rho (ab) similar to 30 to a strongly anisotropic state with rho (c) /rho (ab) similar to 7 x 10(3) upon cooling as well as upon a decrease in the hole concentration in the CuO(2) planes. It is also shown that anisotropy is sensitive to the magnetic state of CuO(2) planes and attains its maximum value after the establishment of the long-range antiferromagnetic order. The results are discussed in the framework of the theory based on the t-t'-taEuro(3)-J model of CuO(2) layers taking into account strong electron correlations and short-range magnetic order. In this theory, anomalies of spin correlators and Fermi surface topology for a critical hole concentration of p* a parts per thousand 0.24 are demonstrated. The concentration dependence of the charge carrier energy indicates partial suppression of energy due to the emergence of a pseudogap at p < p*. This theory explains both the experimentally observed sensitivity of anisotropy in conductivity to the establishment of the antiferromagnetic order and the absence of anomalies in the temperature dependence of resistivity rho (ab) (T) in the vicinity of the N,el temperature.
