Аннотация: The possibility of light-controllable formation of heterogeneous nanostructures containing resonant metallic and semiconductor nanoparticles is considered. Interaction energy between light-induced dipole polarization of nanoparticles at modest light intensity can be much more than the thermal motion energy. The configuration of self-assembled nanostructure can be controlled by the frequency and polarization of the light.

Аннотация: Coronene molecules are used as filler for single-walled carbon nanotubes. Variation of the synthesis temperature regimes leads to formation of different types of carbon nanostructures inside the nanotubes. Accurate determination of the structures by optical spectroscopy methods remains an important issue in composite materials. Clear distinction between adsorbed organic molecules on the surface of the tubes and filled structures may be accessed by Raman and photoluminescence spectroscopies. We perform additional heat treatment after the initial synthesis procedure and show the evolution of the optical spectral features corresponding to the filled structures and adsorbed materials on the surface of single-walled carbon nanotubes. © 2015 Society of Photo-Optical Instrumentation Engineers (SPIE).

Аннотация: Electrodynamical interaction between excited NPs is rather universal and allows formation of wide variety of nanostructures both of homo- and heterogeneous content. Experimental results are obtained for CdTe QDs with the excitonic resonance at 520 nm. Six different samples of the same colloid solution were irradiated at wavelengths from 540 to 570 nm. Modifications of absorption spectra of solutions after irradiation was detected, being most prominent at 555 and 560 nm irradiation wavelengths. Analysis of spectra shows that up to 47% of QDs were assembled into pairs. Therefore, possibility of precise QDs manipulation via laser-induced electrodynamical interaction is demonstrated.

Аннотация: We have calculated the local density of states (LDOS) for four Brillouin zones of a superlattice for a plane source depending on its location relative to the change in the profile of dielectricpermeability (z) of the superlattice. It is shown that the LDOS for the cases of sinusoidal and rectangular profiles of (z) are close to each other in the first and second Brillouin zones, and sharp differences between them appear beginning with the third zone. Radical changes in the LDOS occur in a rectangular superlattice with different thicknesses of adjacent layers. In this case, the function LDOS has a sharp jump at the edges of the allowed bands in the transition from one layer to another. The effects studied theoretically in this paper, can be detected and studied experimentally by the intensively developing currently methods of nanooptics. © 2017 The Authors.

Аннотация: Dynamic susceptibilities (Green's functions) of the interacting electromagnetic waves G”e(ω) and optical phonons G”u(ω) in a medium with zero-mean inhomogeneous coupling parameter have been considered. The calculation was performed using a self-consistent approximation for the two stochastically interacting wave fields. It is shown that on the tops of the resonance maxima of the imaginary parts of the Green functions the fine structure is formed: a minimum (dip) on the top of G”e(ω) and narrow maximum (peak) on the top of G”u(ω). With increasing the correlation wavenumber of inhomogeneities kc (i.e., with decreasing the size of inhomogeneities), the width of the peak on G”u(ω) decreases, and two resonance maxima in the function G”e(ω) are formed. Because of the large difference in the speeds of light and optical phonons, the fine structure of the polaritons is manifested itself more clearly and saved to a much larger values of kc, than for the studied earlier crossing resonance of spin and elastic waves.

Аннотация: We show that a deliberately engineered dispersive metamaterial slab can enable the coexistence and phase matching of ordinary fundamental and contra-propagating backward second harmonic electromagnetic waves. Energy flux and phase velocity are contra-directed in the backward waves, which is the extraordinary phenomenon that gives rise to unique nonlinear optical propagation processes. We demonstrate that frequencies, phase, and group velocities, as well as the losses inherent to the guided electromagnetic modes supported by such metamaterial, can be tailored to maximize the conversion of frequencies and to reverse the propagation direction of the generated second harmonic wave. Such a possibility, which is of paramount importance for nonlinear photonics, is proven using a numerical model describing the hyperbolic metamaterial made of carbon nanotubes standing on the metal surface. Extraordinary properties of the backward-wave second harmonic generation in the reflection direction and of the corresponding frequency doubling metareflector in the THz are investigated with a focus on the pulsed regime. © 2017 American Chemical Society.
