Аннотация: Magnetic nanoparticles of iron oxide (MNPs) were prepared by the laser target evaporation technique (LTE). The main focus was on the fabrication of de-aggregated spherical maghemite MNPs with a narrow size distribution and enhanced effective magnetization. X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy, magnetization and microwave absorption measurements were comparatively analyzed. The shape of the MNPs (mean diameter of 9 nm) was very close to being spherical. The lattice constant of the crystalline phase was substantially smaller than that of stoichiometric magnetite but larger than the lattice constant of maghemite. High value of M-s up to 300 K was established. The 300 K ferromagnetic resonance signal is a single line located at a field expected from spherical magnetic particles with negligible magnetic anisotropy. The maximum obtained concentration of water based ferrofluid was as high as 10g/l of magnetic material. In order to understand the temperature and field dependence of MNPs magnetization, we invoke the core-shell model. The nanoparticles is said to have a ferrimagnetic core (roughly 70 percent of the caliper size) while the shell consists of surface layers in which the spins are frozen having no long range magnetic order. The core-shell interactions were estimated in frame of random anisotropy model. The obtained assembly of de-aggregated nanoparticles is an example of magnetic nanofluid stable under ambient conditions even without an electrostatic stabilizer. (C) 2013 Author(s). Аннотация: The heat capacity and thermal expansion of the PbTiO3 ceramic sample have been measured in the temperature range 80–970 K. The electrocaloric and barocaloric efficiencies of lead titanate in the ferroelectric phase transition range have been investigated by analyzing the experimental data in terms of the thermodynamic theory of phase transitions, the electrical equation of state P(T, E), the Pippard equation, and the S(T, p) diagram.

Аннотация: The results of NMR studies of film structures in a cobalt-germanium system as a function of the cobalt layer thickness are presented. Two phases of cobalt, one is a face-centered cubic phase and the other is presumably a Co-Ge alloy with a weakly ferromagnetic order, have been found to exist. A "dead" layer no more than 2 nm in thickness is formed at the interface.

Аннотация: The effect of B-site cation ordering on the room temperature structural and ferromagnetic resonance (FMR) properties of single crystal spinel lithium ferrite (LiFe5O8, LFO) have been investigated. A detailed microstructural analysis is done through X-ray diffraction, polarized Raman spectroscopy, and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) to examine the effect of post-annealing on the B-site cation ordering. The X-ray diffraction pattern of the as-grown crystal indicates a disordered state of the crystal. However, the annealed sample shows additional superlattice reflections corresponding to the ordered phase. This ordering is further confirmed by Raman spectra and TEM images, which reveal ordering of Li and Fe ions at the octahedral sites contrasting with the relatively high degree of octahedral site disorder in the as-grown crystal. To study the effect of B-site ordering on the magnetic properties and FMR linewidth, vibrating sample magnetometry and broadband FMR measurements have been performed for both the ordered and disordered phases of lithium ferrite. The value of saturation magnetization for both phases is ∼290 emu/cm3. A single mode FMR profile is observed for both phases with little distortion. The linewidth characteristics of the ordered and disordered phases of lithium ferrite phases are compared, and it is observed that the linewidth is independent of the cation ordering. Both the phases exhibit a low linewidth (∼26 Oe at 30 GHz) and the effective damping parameter for the as-grown and annealed samples is determined to be 0.0021 ± 0.0001.
Влияние катионного упорядочения в Б-позициях при комнатной температуре на структурные свойства и ферромагнитный резонанс (ФМР) монокристалла литий железной шпинели (LiFe5O8, LFO) были исследованы. Подробный анализ микроструктуры делается с использованием рентгеновской дифракции, спектроскопии комбинационного рассеяния поляризованного света и просвечивающей электронной микроскопии (ПЭМ), чтобы изучить влияние после отжига на катионное упорядочение в B-позиции. Рентгеновская дифракционная картина, так выращенных кристаллов указывает на беспорядочное состояние кристалла. Тем не менее, пример показывает дополнительные индексы, соответствующие сверхрешетчатой упорядоченной фазы, при отжиге. Этот порядок подтверждается также спектрами комбинационного рассеяния и ТЕМ изображений, которые показывают порядок ионов Li и Fe в октаэдрических контрастными с относительно высокой степенью восьмигранной расстройства позиций в выращенных кристаллах. Для изучения влияния упорядочения В-позиций на магнитные свойства и ширины линии ФМР, вибрационные образцы магнитометрии и широкополосных ФМР измерений были выполнены как для упорядоченных и неупорядоченных фаз литиевого феррита. Значение намагниченности насыщения для обоих фаз ~290 emu / см3. Одиночный профиль в режиме ФМР наблюдается для обеих фаз с небольшим искажением. Ширина линии характеристики упорядоченной и неупорядоченной фаз литиевых ферритов сравниваются, и следует отметить, что ширина линии не зависит от катионного упорядочения. Оба фазы проявляют малую ширину линии (Э около 26 на 30 ГГц) и эффективный параметр демпфирования, как, для только выращенных, так и для отожженных образцов, определяется как 0,0021 ± 0,0001.

Аннотация: Optical Raman spectra of a ferroelectric sodium nitrite crystal have been detected in a wide spectrum range at various temperatures, including the region of the ferroelectric phase transition. A manifestation of a transverse soft polar mode of the A1(z) type responsible for the ferroelectric phase transition has been discovered in the spectrum at room temperature. This mode has been found to become overdamped even far from the ferroelectric phase transition temperature. This mode also appears as a central peak under heating. It has been found that the pseudoscalar mode of the A2 type has the highest intensity in the Raman spectrum of sodium nitrite. The frequency corresponding to the maximum intensity of this mode in the Raman spectrum varies from 130 cm–1 at 123 K to 106 cm–1 at T = 513 K. A fair agreement of the experimental data for the A1(z) mode with the Lyddane–Sachs–Teller relation has been established. Аннотация: Momentum-resolved resonant inelastic x-ray scattering (RIXS) spectroscopy has been carried out successfully at the Fe K-edge for the first time. The RIXS spectra of a FeBO3 single crystal reveal a wealth of information on similar or equal to 1-10 eV electronic excitations. The IXS signal resonates when the incident photon energy approaches the pre-edge (1s-3d) and the main-edge (1s-4p) of the Fe K-edge absorption spectrum. The RIXS spectra measured at the pre-edge and the main-edge show quantitatively different dependences on the incident photon energy, momentum transfer, photon polarization, and temperature. We present a multielectron analysis of the Mott-Hubbard (MH) and charge transfer (CT) excitations, and calculate their energies. Electronic excitations observed in the pre-edge and main-edge RIXS spectra are interpreted as MH and CT excitations, respectively. We propose the electronic structure around the chemical potential in FeBO3 based on the experimental data.

Аннотация: It is well known that the superconducting transition temperature of high-T-c cuprates depends on the number of CuO2 planes in the unit cell. The multilayer structure implies the possibility of interlayer hopping. Under the assumption that the interlayer hopping can be specified by the parameter t(perpendicular to)(k) = t(perpendicular to)(cos(k(x)) - cos(k(y)))(2), the quasiparticle excitation spectrum for the bilayer cuprate in the superconducting state has been determined in the framework of the t - t' - t '' - t(perpendicular to) - J* model using the generalized mean-field approximation. It turns out that the interlayer hoppings does not create any additional mechanism of the Cooper paring and does not lead to an increase in T-c. The splitting of the upper Hubbard quasiparticle band attributed to the interlayer hoppings is manifested as two peaks in the doping dependence of the superconducting transition temperature at temperatures below the maximum T-c value for a single-layer cuprate. It has been found that antiferromagnetic interlayer correlations suppress the interlayer splitting. This probably leads to the common doping dependence of T-c for both single-layer and bilayer cuprates.

Аннотация: Magnetic and magneto-optical properties of the Ni-Ge bilayer films are studied. The unusual temperature behavior of the magnetization curves is revealed: the hysteresis loops at room temperature have a near-rectangular shape; when the films are cooled down to 4.2 K, the coercive force increases by more than an order of magnitude and the asymmetry and displacement of the loop along the field axis are observed. These effects are stronger in thinner Ni layers. The observed features are attributed to the effect of the interlayer between the Ni and Ge layers, which has a complex magnetic structure.

Аннотация: The magnetization curve and magnetization correlation function are calculated for a ferromagnetic chain of single-domain nanoparticles with a randomly oriented anisotropy axis for different ratios between the exchange correlation and anisotropy energies. It is shown that the coercive force decreases as the exchange correlations increase. For strong exchange correlations, the magnetization curve is described by the following three successive magnetization processes as the applied field is increased: (i) nonuniform rotation of the magnetization of stochastic domains, (ii) collapse of the magnetic solitons, and (iii) nonuniform rotation of exchange-correlated magnetization vectors of the nanoparticles. For high fields, the calculated correlation function of the transverse magnetization components coincides with that predicted from linear theory. At low and zero fields, the main parameters of the correlation function (the variance and correlation radius) tend to certain finite values rather than diverge (as is the case in linear theory). The irreversible variation in the magnetization at low fields (the hysteresis loop) and the hysteresis of the main parameters of the correlation function are calculated. Аннотация: Using the d(-1) expansion method (d is the space dimension), we estimate the coordinate of the time-dependent autocorrelation function singular point on the imaginary time axis for the spin 1/2 Heisenberg model on a simple hypercubic lattice at high temperatures. We represent the coefficients of the time expansion (the spectral moments) for the autocorrelation function as the sums of the weighted lattice figures in which the trees constructed from the double bonds give the leading contributions with respect to d(-1) and the same trees with the built-in squares from six bonds or diagrams with the fourfold bonds give the contribution of the next-to-leading order. We find the corrections to the coordinate of the autocorrelation function singular point that are due to the latter contributions.

Аннотация: Two methods for stabilizing the two-hole B-3(1g) state as the ground state instead of the Zhang-Rice singlet are determined on the basis of an orthogonal cellular basis for a realistic multiband pd model of a CuO2 layer and the dispersion relations for the valence band top in undoped and doped cases are calculated. In the undoped case, aside from the valence band, qualitatively corresponding to the experimental ARPES data for Sr2CuO2Cl2 and the results obtained on the basis of the t-t'-J model, the calculations give a zero-dispersion virtual level at the valence band top itself. Because of the zero amplitude of transitions forming the virtual level the response corresponding to it is absent in the spectral density function. In consequence, the experimental ARPES data do not reproduce its presence in this antiferromagnetic undoped dielectric. A calculation of the doped case showed that the virtual level transforms into an impurity-type band and acquires dispersion on account of the nonzero occupation number of the two-hole states and therefore should be detected in ARPES experiments as a high-energy peak in the spectral density. The computed dispersion dependence for the valence band top is identical to the dispersion obtained by the Monte Carlo method, and the ARPES data for optimally doped Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8 + delta samples. The data obtained also make it possible to explain the presence of an energy pseudogap at the symmetric X point of the Brillouin band of HTSC compounds. (C) 2000 MAIK "Nauka/Interperiodica".

Аннотация: Raman light scattering spectra of a ferroelectric sodium nitrite crystal is studied in the lattice mode region as the temperature is lowered from room temperature to 123 K. The existence of a Raman satellite corresponding to the soft lattice mode, i.e., transverse polar vibration responsible for the ferroelectric phase transition, is established for the first time. It is found that the intensity of the Raman scattering by the pseudo-scalar low-frequency A (2) mode exceeds the intensity of other lattice variations by an order of magnitude.

Аннотация: Temperature dependence of the magnetic field penetration depth λ was calculated for water intercalated sodium cobaltate superconductor NaxCoO2⋅yH2O. Assuming that the system is in the chiral d+id–wave superconducting state, it was shown that the shifting of the excitation spectrum nodal points off the normal phase Fermi surface due to variation of the sodium content x changes the functional form of the temperature dependence of λ−2 from exponential to linear in the low temperatures region. It is argued that this change in the functional form of T–dependence of the λ−2 can serve as a proof for the chiral symmetry of the superconducting order parameter in the sodium cobaltate.

Аннотация: The results of the effect of helium pressure in the chamber on the amount and composition of the produced fullerenes (C60, C70, etc.) synthesized in the arc plasma with graphite electrodes are presented. The findings obtained when the arc is powered by a direct (DC) and alternating (AC) currents of low frequency were compared in the same chamber with the electrodes located at the same angle to each other. These two methods are drastically different. The complete conversion of graphite into fullerene soot in AC occurs, but a part of the graphite is converted into a cathode deposit that does not contain fullerenes in DC, the relative amount of which increases when decreasing the helium pressure in the chamber. The highest fullerene content in fullerene soot of 10.2 wt.% is produced at a pressure of 127.5 kPa in AC arc, but in DC arc, the highest content of fullerenes in fullerene soot of 8.3 wt.% is produced at a pressure of 33.3 kPa.

Аннотация: The simple lattice and magnetic structure, the high Neel temperature, the narrow antiferromagnetic resonance line of FeBO3, and the narrow electron paramagnetic resonance line of its isostructural diamagnetic analogs MBO3:Fe3+(M = Ga, In, Sc, Lu) make iron borate unique for investigations and applications. Iron borate is a model crystal for numerous experimental and theoretical studies, including spin crossovers and metallization at megabar pressures and many-electron effects in optics and X-ray spectroscopy. The recent works dealing with the investigation of the properties of FeBO(3)are reviewed.
