    Muraev, P. S.
Signatures of quantum chaos and fermionization in the incoherent transport of bosonic carriers in the Bose-Hubbard chain / P. S. Muraev, D. N. Maksimov, A. R. Kolovsky // Phys. Rev. E. - 2024. - Vol. 109, Is. 3. - Ст. Аннотация: We analyze the stationary current of Bose particles across the Bose-Hubbard chain connected to a battery, focusing on the effect of interparticle interactions. It is shown that the current magnitude drastically decreases as the strength of interparticle interactions exceeds the critical value which marks the transition to quantum chaos in the Bose-Hubbard Hamiltonian. We found that this transition is well reflected in the nonequilibrium many-body density matrix of the system. Namely, the level-spacing distribution for eigenvalues of the density matrix changes from Poisson to Wigner-Dyson distributions. With the further increase of the interaction strength, the Wigner-Dyson spectrum statistics change back to the Poisson statistics which now marks fermionization of the Bose particles. With respect to the stationary current, this leads to the counter-intuitive dependence of the current magnitude on the particle number.

    Photonic bound states in the continuum governed by heating / A. I. Krasnov, P. S. Pankin, G. A. Romanenko [et al.] // Phys. Rev. E. - 2024. - Vol. 109, Is. 5. - Ст. 054703, DOI 10.1103/PhysRevE.109.054703. - Cited References: 50. - This work was supported by the Russian Science Foundation under Grant No. 22-22-00687 . - ISSN 2470-0045. - ISSN 2470-0053
Аннотация: A photonic crystal microcavity with the liquid crystal resonant layer tunable by heating has been implemented. The multiple vanishing resonant lines corresponding to optical bound states in the continuum are observed. The abrupt change in the resonant linewidth near the vanishing point can be used for temperature sensing.

    Optical coupled-mode theory for dielectric solids of revolution / E. N. Bulgakov, D. N. Maksimov, A. E. Ershov // Phys. Rev. A. - 2023. - Vol. 107, Is. 4. - Ст. 043506, DOI 10.1103/PhysRevA.107.043506. - Cited References: 33. - This work received financial support through Russian Science Foundation Grant No. 22-72-00102 . - ISSN 2469-9926. - ISSN 2469-9934
Аннотация: We propose a single resonance coupled-mode approach to light scattering by dielectric solids of revolution. By using a biorthogonal decomposition of the S matrix found with the extended boundary condition method we derived all parameters required for application of the temporal coupled-mode theory in a closed form. The proposed approach allows for constructing a frequency-dependent Fano response due to a single resonance after the full-wave solution has been found at a single incident frequency.

Tamm plasmon polariton -- Bound state in the continuum -- Metasurface
Аннотация: We consider light absorption in a germanium grating placed on top of photonic-crystalline substrate. Such a system supports an optical Tamm state decoupled from the continuous spectrum with its frequency within the photonic band gap. We have demonstrated that application of the Tamm state makes in possible to engineer extremely narrow absorber which provides a 100 % absorption in a semiconductor grating in the critical coupling regime. The proposed design may be used at both normal and oblique incidence at the telecom wavelength.

Перевод заглавия: Асимметричное резонансное поглощение света в микроструктуре хлоропласта
Аннотация: It is shown that in the chloroplast periodic structure with a defect, the resonant absorption of light can be implemented. It is found that the resonant light absorption depends significantly on the position of a defect. In terms of the absorption of light energy, an asymmetric resonator is more efficient than a symmetric one.

open quantum system -- non-linear dynamics -- chaotic attractors
Аннотация: We analyze the classical and quantum dynamics of the driven dissipative Bose–Hubbard dimer. Under variation of the driving frequency, the classical system is shown to exhibit a bifurcation to the limit cycle, where its steady-state solution corresponds to periodic oscillation with the frequency unrelated to the driving frequency. This bifurcation is shown to lead to a peculiarity in the stationary single-particle density matrix of the quantum system. The case of the Bose–Hubbard trimer, where the discussed limit cycle bifurcates into a chaotic attractor, is briefly discussed.

Аннотация: We consider a layered metal–dielectric microcavity with a liquid crystal used as a resonator layer. The transformation of the microcavity spectra is shown experimentally using three methods, namely, mechanical rotation of the sample, heating, and applying external voltage. The obtained spectra exhibit multiple vanishing resonant lines. It is found the vanishing resonant lines are not a spectral manifestation of the bound state in the continuum for this system. Despite the absence of true bound states in the continuum, an experimental tuning of the resonance Q factor via changing the radiation loss rate is demonstrated through variation of the optical properties of the liquid crystal layer.

Thermo-optic hysteresis induced by a high-quality defect mode in a two-dimensional photonic crystal / G. V. Shadrina, E. N. Bulgakov, D. N. Maksimov, V. S. Gerasimov // Phys. Rev. Аннотация: We consider thermo-optic bistability induced by a high-quality defect mode in the square array of dielectric rods. It is demonstrated that the scattering problem with an account of the variation of the dielectric constant by heating can be solved with the T-matrix method by introducing an explicit dependence of the permittivity of the defect rod on temperature. We found that the bistability occurs at low intensities of the incident wave ≈ 0.01mW/µm2 in a square array of 7 ˣ 7 silicon rods with a defect rod in the middle.

quantum transport -- master equation -- non-equilibrium Green’s functions
Аннотация: We propose a simple, yet feasible, model for quantum transport of fermionic carriers across tight-binding chain connecting two reservoirs maintained at arbitrary temperatures and chemical potentials. The model allows for elementary derivation of the master equation for the reduced single particle density matrix in a closed form in both Markov and Born approximations. In the Markov approximation the master equation is solved analytically, whereas in the Born approximation the problem is reduced to an algebraic equation for the single particle density matrix in the Redfield form. The non-Markovian equation is shown to lead to resonant transport similar to Landauer's conductance. It is shown that in the deep non-Markovian regime the transport current can be matched with that obtained by the non-equilibrium Green's function method.

    Hybrid Tamm and quasi-BIC microcavity modes / D. S. Buzin, P. S. Pankin, D. N. Maksimov [et al.] // Nanoscale. - 2023. - Vol. 15, Is. 41. - P. 16706-16714, DOI 10.1039/D3NR03241H. - Cited References: 75. - This work was supported by the Russian Science Foundation under Grant No. 22-22-00687 . - ISSN 2040-3364. - ISSN 2040-3372
Аннотация: The microcavity in the form of a liquid crystal defect layer embedded in a one-dimensional photonic crystal is considered. The microcavity mode has a tunable radiation decay rate in the vicinity of a bound state in the continuum. It is demonstrated that coupling between the microcavity mode and a Tamm plasmon polariton results in hybrid Tamm-microcavity modes with a tunable Q factor. The measured spectral features of hybrid modes are explained in the framework of the temporal coupled mode theory.
