Аннотация: The frequency dependence of the effective complex permittivity and effective complex permeability of a heterostructure based on a dielectric medium containing metallic nanoparticles of spherical shape is calculated by an original method. In contrast to the Bruggeman [21] and the Maxwell Garnett [17] approaches, which use the quasi-static approximation in calculations, a nonuniform distribution of electromagnetic fields inside metallic particles is calculated, which allows the analysis of the electromagnetic parameters of the heterostructure not only as a function of frequency but also as a function of the nanoparticle size. It is shown that the plasmon resonant frequency decreases with increasing both the size and the concentration of particles in the heterostructure. It is also shown that a dielectric medium containing nonmagnetic metallic nanoparticles exhibits diamagnetic properties. In this case, the position of the maximum on the frequency dependence of the imaginary part of the magnetic susceptibility coincides with the relaxation frequency of charge carriers. The calculated spectra of the real and imaginary components of the permittivity of the heterostructure with a size of metallic particles less than 10 nm are in good agreement with Bruggeman calculations; however, the agreement with Maxwell Garnett calculations is observed only at nanoparticle concentrations lower than 10–6.

Аннотация: In this work we experimentally observe a symmetry protected optical bound state in the continuum (BIC) with zero angular momentum in 1D array of ceramic disks at GHz frequencies. We analyze the dependence of Q factor of BIC on the number of the disks and the level of the material losses. We confirmed theoretical prediction about quadratic growth of the Q factor with the number of the disks and its following saturation due to material losses.

Аннотация: Numerical analysis of the micromagnetic model was used to reveal the ‘resonance’ feature of relaxation processes in nanocrystalline thin magnetic films. This feature manifests itself in the form of sharp broadening of the ferromagnetic resonance (FMR) line at a certain frequency f1 depending on magnetic characteristics of the film, and is observed only in films the thickness of which exceeds some threshold value dmin. Sharp broadening of the FMR line is accompanied by significant shift of the resonance field, whereas the shift value changes the sign at frequency ~ f1. It was shown analytically that the nature of observed effects is associated with the two-magnon process of spin waves scattering on quasi-periodic magnetic microstructure – magnetization ‘ripple’. Obtained expressions for the threshold value of film thickness dmin and frequency of maximum broadening of FMR line f1 agree well with the results of numerical computation of micromagnetic model.

Аннотация: We observe experimentally symmetry protected bound states in the continuum (BICs) in the stack of ceramic disks. We analyze transformation of the resonant state into BIC with increasing of the number of disks theoretically and experimentally. In the experiment we measure the transmission spectra through the array of ceramic disks at GHz frequencies. We observe a quadratic growth of the Q-factor of quasi-BIC with the number of disks due to material losses. We cross-check the observation of BIC in the transmission spectra by measurement of the field profiles which are a good agreement with the results of the numerical simulations. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Аннотация: Численным анализом микромагнитной модели обнаружена «резонансная» особенность процессов релаксации в нанокристаллических тонких магнитных пленках. Особенность проявляется в виде резкого уширения линии ферромагнитного резонанса (ФМР) на определенной частоте f 1, зависящей от магнитных характеристик пленки, и она наблюдается только в пленках, толщина которых превышает некоторое пороговое значение d min. Резкое уширение линии ФМР сопровождается значительным смещением резонансного поля, причем величина смещения меняет знак на частоте ~ f 1. Аналитически показано, что природа наблюдаемых эффектов связана с двухмагнонным процессом рассеяния спиновых волн на квазипериодической магнитной микроструктуре - «ряби» намагниченности. Полученные выражения для порогового значения толщины пленки d min и частоты максимального уширения линии ФМР f 1 хорошо согласуются с результатами численного расчета микромагнитной модели.A resonant feature of the relaxation processes in nanocrystal magnetic thin films is revealed by numerical analysis for a micromagnetic model. This special feature is manifested through sharp broadening of the ferromagnetic resonance (FMR) line at the frequency f 1 depending on the magnetic characteristics of the film and is observed only in the films whose thickness exceeds a certain threshold value d min. Аннотация: A simple single-frequency dielectric model for the set of frequencies which are 0.45, 1.26, 1.4, 1.6, 5.4, 6.9, 9.6, and 10.7 GHz for frozen mineral soils is developed. The model is based on the dielectric measurements of three typical soils (sandy loam, silt loam, and silty clay) at the temperature range from -1°C to -30°C. The measured data as a function of moisture were fitted with the refractive mixing dielectric model. The model parameters are maximum bound water fraction, and refractive indexes of soil solid, unfrozen bound water, and wet ice. In the result of fitting measured data, the model parameters were determined as a functions of soil type (clay content), and soil temperature. The error of the predicted values of the complex relative permittivity (CRP) of frozen soils relative to the measured ones was evaluated through determination coefficients, and root mean square error (RMSE). The values of RMSE are on the order of the dielectric measurement error itself. The proposed dielectric model can be applied in active and passive remote sensing techniques used in the cold regions.

Аннотация: The singularities of the time autocorrelation functions (ACFs) of magnetically diluted spin systems with dipole–dipole interaction (DDI), which determine the high-frequency asymptotics of autocorrelation functions and the wings of a magnetic resonance line, are studied. Using the self-consistent fluctuating local field approximation, nonlinear equations are derived for autocorrelation functions averaged over the independent random arrangement of spins (magnetic atoms) in a diamagnetic lattice with different spin concentrations. The equations take into account the specificity of the dipole–dipole interaction. First, due to its axial symmetry in a strong static magnetic field, the autocorrelation functions of longitudinal and transverse spin components are described by different equations. Second, the long-range type of the dipole–dipole interaction is taken into account by separating contributions into the local field from distant and near spins. The recurrent equations are obtained for the expansion coefficients of autocorrelation functions in power series in time. From them, the numerical value of the coordinate of the nearest singularity of the autocorrelation function is found on the imaginary time axis, which is equal to the radius of convergence of these expansions. It is shown that in the strong dilution case, the logarithmic concentration dependence of the coordinate of the singularity is observed, which is caused by the presence of a cluster of near spins whose fraction is small but contribution to the modulation frequency is large. As an example a silicon crystal with different 29Si concentrations in magnetic fields directed along three crystallographic axes is considered. © 2017, Pleiades Publishing, Inc.

Аннотация: The magnetoresistive effect in MnSe1−XTeX manganese chalcogenides with a substitute concentration of X = 0.1 is studied by impedance spectroscopy. The magnetoimpedance above the Neel temperature is found. The obtained experimental data are explained in the framework of the model of existence of magnetic nanoareas of two types. Two activation energies in the low- and high-frequency regions are determined from the frequency and temperature dependences of the permittivity described in the Debye model. The extrema found in the temperature dependence of the pyroelectric current are consistent with the maxima in the temperature dependence of magnetization. Temperature dependence of the carrier relaxation time is established. The magnetocapacitance of the MnSe1−XTeX solid solutions is found. The change in the carrier type above the Neel temperature and the temperature of the transition to the magnetically ordered state in the MnTe nanoarea is established.
