Аннотация: Представлены результаты исследования транспортных свойств катион-замещенных сульфидов RexMn1-xS (Re = Gd, Sm, Ho) с ГЦК-решеткой типа NaCl в области температур 77-1200 К. С увеличением степени катионного замещения в этих соединениях RexMn1-xS (Re = Gd, Sm, Ho) изменяется тип проводимости от полупроводникового до металлического при критической концентрации Х С. Концентрационный переход металл-диэлектрик в системе Gd XMn 1-XS сопровождается уменьшением величины удельного электросопротивления на 12 порядков и коэффициента термоЭДС (α) на два порядка. Катионное замещение в твердых растворах GdxMn1-xS приводит к смене дырочного типа проводимости (α > 0), свойственного моносульфиду марганца, на электронный (α < 0). Уменьшение величины α с увеличением содержания гадолиния в решетке MnS указывает на то, что Gd действует как донорная примесь. Для Sm 0,2Mn 0,8S обнаружен резкий максимум сопротивления при Т = 100 К, который может быть вызван рассеянием электронов проводимости на спиновых флуктуациях локализованных электронов. Установлен металлический тип проводимости для Sm 0,25Mn 0,75S и механизм электрического сопротивления, который связан с рассеянием электронов на акустических фононах и с магнитным рассеянием на нескомпенсированных антиферромагнитных кластерах марганца при Т < 180 К. В результате замещения марганца самарием в твердом растворе SmxMn1-xS электронная структура перестраивается, и сопротивление невозможно объяснить на основе протекания ионов самария. Общей закономерностью температурных зависимостей коэффициента термоЭДС как для системы с гадолинием, так и для системы с самарием является проявление отрицательного значения термоЭДС во всем диапазоне температур с ростом Х. В системе HoxMn1-xS переход металл-диэлектрик обнаружен для ХС = 0,3 с уменьшением величины удельного электросопротивления на десять порядков. Цель данной работы - установить условия реализации перехода металл-диэлектрик в катион-замещенных системах RexMn1-xS (Re = Gd, Sm, Ho).
This paper presents the results of a study of the transport properties of cation-substituted sulfides Re XMn 1-XS (Re = = Gd, Sm, Ho) with FCC NaCl type in the temperature range 77-1200 K. With increasing degree of cation substitution in these compounds Re XMn 1- ХS (Re = Gd, Sm, Ho) the conductivity type changes from the semiconductor to the «metal» at the critical concentration X C. The concentration of metal-insulator transition in the system Gd XMn 1-XS is accompanied by a decreasing in the electrical resistivity of value on 12 orders and Seebeck coefficient (α) is on two orders. The cation-substitution in the solid solutions Gd XMn 1-XS leads to p-type conductivity (α > 0), as comprising to electronic (α < 0) for manganese monosulfide. Decrease of α with increasing gadolinium concentration in the MnS lattice indicates that the Gd acts as a donor impurity. For Sm 0,2Mn0,8S a maximum resistance at T = 100 K attributed to the scattering of conduction electrons by spin fluctuations of localized electrons. The metallic conductivity for Sm 0.25Mn 0.75S and the mechanism of electrical resistance, which is related to the scattering of electrons by acoustic phonons and magnetic scattering by uncompensated antiferromagnetic manganese clusters at T < 180 K were revealed. As a result of the substitution of manganese to samarium in solid solution Sm XMn 1-XS the electron structure is reconstructed, and the resistance cannot be explained on the basis of the percolation of samarium ions. The temperature dependence of Seebeck coefficient for systems with gadolinium and with samarium reveals the negative values of thermoelectric power in the all range of temperatures with increasing concentration (X). The metal-insulator transition for system Ho XMn 1-XS at Х С= 0,3 is observed with decreasing resistivity on ten orders. The purpose of this work is to establish conditions for the realization of the metal-insulator transition in a cation-substituted systems Re XMn 1-XS (Re = Gd, Sm, Ho).

Исследованы передаточные характеристики устройства при работе с сигналами до 40 Вт мощности, а также влияние на полосу пропускания длительности одиночного импульса сигнала разной мощности. Проведена экспериментальная оценка времени переключения в закрытый режим.
A microstrip power limiter based on dumbbell-shaped resonators having a switcher made from high-temperature superconducting film was designed and fabricated. The transmission characteristics of the device were investigated in the case of microwave power level up to 40 W. An influence of single pulse duration of various magnitudes upon the passband of the device was investigated. An experimental estimation of the switch time to the closed mode was done.

Аннотация: Tetragonal CsScF4 crystals doped with (5 at.%) Er and Er/Yb (0.5 at.%/5 at.%) are grown and their crystal structure is determined to belong to Pmmn space group. Er and Yb ions are shown to occupy distorted octahedral Sc sites with the center of inversion. Bright visible upconversion luminescence was observed under 970-980 nm pumping with red (4F9/2), yellow (4S3/2) and green (2H11/2) bands of comparable intensity. UCL tuning curves maximize at 972 nm (CSF:Er) and at 969.7 nm (CSF:Er,Yb) pumping wavelengths. Different ratios between yellow-green and red luminescence intensities in CSF:Er and CSF:Er, Yb are explained by contribution of cross-relaxation in CSF:Er UCL UC in CSF:Er is a three stage process while UC in CSF:Er, Yb is a two stage process. The peculiarities of power dependences are explained by the power-dependent repopulation between starting levels of UC. (C) 2016 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Аннотация: We demonstrate the microwave detection effect in a granular La0.7Ca0.3MnO3 sample. Dc voltage generated by the sample in response to microwave irradiation below the Curie temperature is found to be dependent on the applied magnetic field. The magnetic field dependence of the dc voltage has a broad peak resembling an absorption line. The detection effect depends substantially on the magnetic history of the sample; however, identical measurement conditions provide reproducibility of the experimental results. The detected dc voltage increases linearly with microwave power and strongly depends on a bias current through the sample. According to the results of systematic measurements, there exist two contributions to a value of the detected output signal. The first is magneto-independent; it can be explained in the framework of a mechanism used traditionally for description of the rectification effect in metal-insulator-metal junctions with nonmagnetic metals. The other is magneto-dependent; it originates from the interplay between the spin-dependent current through magnetic tunnel junctions and spin dynamics of the grains, which form these junctions in the sample.

Аннотация: Among the new coal technologies the burning of low-grade coal in the form of coal-water slurry fuel (CWSF) is of a great interest. The basis of CWSF is a highly concentrated coal-water slurry consisting of finely ground coal, water or other liquid and plasticizing agents. The development of CWSF technology is highly relevant for solving global problems of resource conservation and ecology. The study is dedicated to CWSF properties with respect to Kansk-Achinsk coal and water. This paper presents the results of the influence of CWSF's preliminary cavitation water treatment on the combustion dynamics of fuel, (including the features of the combustion temperature trends, delayed ignition time and time of complete combustion) and on its environmental characteristics. A rotary-type hydrodynamic oscillator at high angular velocity (10000 rpm) was used in supercavitation mode. It is shown that the technology of cavitation water treatment leads to a change in the dynamics of CWSF's combustion and to an additional decrease in NOx emissions by 1.6 times, CO2 by 1.3 times.

Аннотация: Using coupled mode theory we consider transmission in a T-shaped waveguide coupled with two identical symmetrically positioned nonlinear micro-cavities with mirror symmetry. For input power injected into the central waveguide we show the existence of a symmetry breaking solution which is a result of mixing of the symmetrical input wave with an antisymmetric standing wave in the Fabry-Perot interferometer. With growth of the input power, a feature in the form of loops arises in the solution which originates from bistability in the transmission in the output left/right waveguide coupled with the first/second nonlinear cavity. The domains of stability of the solution are found. The breaking of mirror symmetry gives rise to nonsymmetrical left and right outputs. We demonstrate that this phenomenon can be explored for all-optical switching of light transmission from the left output waveguide to the right one by application of input pulses.

Аннотация: The time evolution of multispin correlations (the growth of the number of correlated spins as a function of time) can be observed directly using the multiple-quantum nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy of solids. A quantity related to this number, namely, the second moment of the intensity distribution of coherences of different orders in the multiple-quantum spectrum can be calculated using the theory proposed in this work. An approach to the calculation of the four-spin time correlation function through which this moment is expressed is developed. The main sequences of contributions in the expansion of this function into a time power series are summed using the approximation of a large number of neighbors both for systems with a secular dipole-dipole interaction and for systems with a nonsecular effective interaction. An exponential dependence of is obtained. The value of is additionally calculated using an expansion in terms of orthogonal operators for three model examples corresponding to different limiting realizations of spin systems. It is shown that the results of the microscopic theory at least qualitatively agree with both the results obtained for model examples and experimental results obtained recently for adamantane.

Аннотация: This paper presents a new type of power limiter (PL), using superconducting-to-normal state phase transition in high-temperature superconductor. The presented device differs from the existing ones mainly in the reflective principle of its operation. In fact, the PL is a three-resonator microstrip filter, whose resonators are configured and arranged in such a manner that coupling coefficient between the outer resonators is equal to zero and the inner one has a gap in the middle section shunted by a high-temperature superconducting (HTS) film element. In small-signal mode, the HTS element is in low-loss state, and the device is essentially a three-pole filter with low transmission loss. When the level of the signal exceeds the threshold, the HTS element transits to the high-loss state, and the Q-factor of the inner resonator falls, breaking the coupling in the structure. This leads to the corresponding increase in the PL's transmission loss due to reflection. The higher the level of incoming power, the more the Q-factor falls. The PL operating frequency is 8 GHz with 8.5% fractional bandwidth. It remains operable up to 40 W of input power, providing 38-dB limitation.

Аннотация: Eu2+ local environments in various crystallographic sites enable the different distributions of the emission and excitation energies and then realize the photoluminescence tuning of the Eu2+ doped solid state phosphors. Herein we report the Eu2+-doped Ca10M(PO4)7 (M = Li, Na, and K) phosphors with β-Ca3(PO4)2-type structure, in which there are five cation crystallographic sites, and the phosphors show a color tuning from bluish-violet to blue and yellow with the variation of M ions. The difference in decay rate monitored at selected wavelengths is related to multiple luminescent centers in Ca10M(PO4)7:Eu2+, and the occupied rates of Eu2+ in Ca(1), Ca(2), Ca(3), Na(4), and Ca(5) sites from Rietveld refinements using synchrotron power diffraction data confirm that Eu2+ enters into four cation sites except for Ca(5). Since the average bond lengths d(Ca-O) remain invariable in the Ca10M(PO4)7:Eu2+, the drastic changes of bond lengths d(M-O) and Eu2+ emission depending on the variation from Li to Na and K can provide insight into the distribution of Eu2+ ions. It is found that the emission band at 410 nm is ascribed to the occupation of Eu2+ in the Ca(1), Ca(2), and Ca(3) sites with similar local environments, while the long-wavelength band (466 or 511 nm) is attributed to Eu2+ at the M(4) site (M = Na and K). We show that the crystal-site engineering approach discussed herein can be applied to probe the luminescence of the dopants and provide a new method for photoluminescence tuning.

Аннотация: Coercivity of nanocrystalline magnetic alloys depends on the grain size D according to a power law Hc ∝ Dn with n from 2 to 6. The law Hc ∝ D6 is derived based on the random magnetic anisotropy model and is clearly manifested in experimental studies of some Finemet type alloys. In this letter using computer modeling it is demonstrated that a power-law behavior with the exponent n less than 6 can be due to a grain-size distribution. An increase of grain size variance results in a decrease of the exponent from 6 to the value of about 3.

Аннотация: We report on the spectral properties of an optically switchable tristable chiral-tilted homeotropic nematic liquid crystal (LC) incorporated as a tunable defect layer in one-dimensional photonic crystal. By varying the polarization angle of the incident light and modulating the light intensity ratio between UV and green light, various transmission characteristics of the composite were obtained. The hybrid structure realizes photo-tunability in transmission of defect-mode peaks within the photonic bandgap in addition to optical switchability among three distinct sets of defect modes via photoinduced tristable state transitions. Because the fabrication process is easier and less critical in terms of cell parameters or sample preparation conditions and the LC layer itself possesses an extra stable state compared with the previously reported bistable counterpart operating on the basis of biased-voltage dual-frequency switching, it has much superior potential for photonic applications such as a low-power-consumption multichannel filter and an optically controllable intensity modulator. © 2016 Optical Society of America.

Аннотация: Random quasi-phase-matched frequency doubling of fs pulses to the deep UV was obtained in 1D nonlinear photonic crystal (NPC) of strontium tetraborate. Tuning range of generated radiation is from 187.5 to 215 nm. The spectrum of generated radiation consists from series of peaks with the width of order of 1 A. These peaks are the manifestation of the NPC band structure. Using fs oscillator as the fundamental radiation source, maximum average power of generated radiation is of order 1 ?W, the enhancement factor with respect to monodomain sample being of order of several hundred. The red rotational shift of NPC band structure is experimentally demonstrated. © 2011 SPIE.

Аннотация: In the multilayer structure, La(0.7)Sr(0.3)MnO(3)/depleted manganite layer/MnSi, the photovoltaic effect has been discovered. The depleted manganite layer in the structure is dielectric and serves as a potential barrier between the ferromagnetic conducting La(0.7)Sr(0.3)MnO(3) and MnSi layers by the formation of a magnetic tunnel junction. The photoinduced changes in the transport properties of the magnetic tunnel structure have been observed in the current-in-plane geometry. The changes are reversible and saturate at radiation power densities over 30 mW cm(-2). The photovoltaic effect has a threshold character: it reveals only at h nu > 1.17 eV. Most likely, the effect of optical radiation is related to the formation of electron-hole pairs due to interband absorption of light in the dielectric layer. A photocurrent through the tunnel junctions separating the conducting layers causes a redistribution of the current channels between the conducting layers, which influences the conductivity and the magnetoresistance of the structure.

Аннотация: Using the d(-1) expansion method (d is the space dimension), we estimate the coordinate of the time-dependent autocorrelation function singular point on the imaginary time axis for the spin 1/2 Heisenberg model on a simple hypercubic lattice at high temperatures. We represent the coefficients of the time expansion (the spectral moments) for the autocorrelation function as the sums of the weighted lattice figures in which the trees constructed from the double bonds give the leading contributions with respect to d(-1) and the same trees with the built-in squares from six bonds or diagrams with the fourfold bonds give the contribution of the next-to-leading order. We find the corrections to the coordinate of the autocorrelation function singular point that are due to the latter contributions.

Аннотация: Random nonlinear photonic crystal (NPC) structures formed by as-grown domains in a non-ferroelectric strontium tetraborate (SBO) are investigated. The domain shape and orientation are similar to those in ferroelectric KTP. Nonlinear diffraction is the simplest way to detect, evaluate and characterize these structures. Reciprocal superlattice vectors spectra of NPC in SBO are very wide and enable broadband efficiency enhancement of nonlinear optical processes. Second harmonic (SH) generation of femtosecond Ti:sapphire oscillator radiation with 1.9% efficiency is obtained using nonlinear diffraction geometry. Random quasi phase matched generation at the wavelengths of fourth harmonic of Ti:sapphire laser is obtained with average power up to 1 ?W. © 2010 Copyright SPIE - The International Society for Optical Engineering.

Аннотация: A method based on the kinetic equations for Markov processes is found which is effective within as well as beyond the scope of conventional restrictions - one-dimensional stochastic equations with given initial conditions. For the first time the problem of finding averages for linear systems with nonadditive random influence, typical models of the theory of wave propagation in random media, is solved to obtain exact solutions.

Аннотация: The numerical simulation of the behavior of the molecules of the DOBAMBC liquid crystal by the molecular dynamics method allowed us to find the change of the the conformation of molecules as a function of temperature and to reveal the helical structures with various pitches in the smectic phase C*. These results explained the anomalous temperature dependences of the order parameter at the molecular level, as well as the optical second harmonic generation in the region of smectic A.
