Аннотация: The method for investigation of the uniaxial and hexagonal anisotropies in weakly ferromagnetic rhombohedral FeBO3 crystals with the Fe2þ magnetic impurity with the use of the single-ion and pair approximation has been developed. In the framework of this method, a quantitative discrepancy between theoretical and experimental data on a uniaxial field has been eliminated. The energy contributions to the hexagonal anisotropy that are caused by the Dzyaloshinsky–Moriya interaction, the crystal field of Fe3þ ions and the temperature dependence of this anisotropy were analytically treated. The experimental temperature dependence of the hexagonal anisotropy of FeBO3 crystals is explained. It is shown that the compensation point and the typical temperature dependence of the hexagonal anisotropy result from the competition of the contributions of Fe3þ and Fe2þ ions. It is shown that respective considerable contributions to the anisotropy of Fe3þ and Fe2þ ions are made by the cubic symmetry and the uniaxial symmetry of the exchange ‘‘single-ion’’ type. The anisotropy constants for FeBO3 crystal was obtained by using the described results. It was shown, that for the calcite type structure crystals (iron borate and manganese carbonate) with S-state ions, the single ion and pair models (which previously raised doubts in their validity and accuracy) describe the experimental data good enough.

Аннотация: Измерены спектры оптического поглощения и магнитного кругового дихроизма (МКД) в интервале длин волн 350-1150 нм для серии коллоидных растворов наночастиц Au со средним размером 6.0 нм с различной степенью хиральности тиолятного покрытия. Вид спектров поглощения и МКД свидетельствует о дипольном характере межзонных переходов 5d-6(sp)-орбиталей. Отсутствие зависимости (в пределах погрешности эксперимента) МКД от вида покрытия позволяет исключить гипотезу об орбитальной природе магнетизма. Делается вывод о преобладающей роли спиновой поляризации в формировании магнетизма наночастиц золота с тиолятным покрытием.

Аннотация: The spectra of optical absorption and of magnetic circular dichroism (MCD) have been measured in the 350–1150 nm wavelength range for a set of colloidal solutions containing Au nanoparticles with the average size of6 nm having thiolate coatings with different degrees of chirality. The form of absorption and MCD spectra sug-gests the dipole character of interband transitions involving the 5d–6(sp) orbitals. The absence (within theexperimental error) of the dependence of the MCD spectra on the coating type rules out the hypothesis on theorbital nature of the observed magnetism. We argue that the spin polarization plays the dominant role in themagnetism of gold nanoparticles with a thiolate coating.

Аннотация: We have successfully synthesized ferromagnetic Fe-In2O 3 nanocomposite thin films for the first time using the thermite reaction Fe2O3 + In = In2O3 + Fe. The initial In/Fe2O3 bilayers were obtained by the deposition of In layers on α-Fe2O3 films. The reaction occurs in a self-propagating mode in a homogeneous thermal film plane field at heating rates above 20 K/s and at temperatures above initiation temperature T[[d]]in[[/d]] ~ 180 °C. At heating rates lower than 20 K/s the mixing of the In and Fe2O3 layers occurs across the whole In/Fe2O3 interface and the synthesis of the ferromagnetic α-Fe phase starts above the initiation temperature T[[d]]in[[/d]] = 180 °C. X-ray diffraction, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, Mossbauer spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy and magnetic measurements were used for phase identification and microstructure observation of the synthesized Fe-In2O3 samples. The reaction products contain (1 1 0) textured α-Fe nanocrystals with a diameter around 100 nm and surrounded by an In2O3 matrix. These results enable new efficient low-temperature methods for synthesizing ferromagnetic nanocomposite films containing ferromagnetic nanoclusters embedded in transparent conducting oxides. © 2014 Elsevier B.V. Аннотация: Structural and magnetization measurements have been performed on the La0.7Sr0.3Mn0.85 Nb 0.15 - x 5 + Mg x 2 + O3 stoichiometric compounds. With rise of the Mg2+ content the formal oxidation state manganese increases from +3 ( x = 0 ) up to +3.55 ( x = 0.15 ) . The compositions with 0 ⩽ x ≤ 0.08 undergo a structural transition from rhombohedral to orthorhombic symmetry below room temperature whereas x = 0.1 and x = 0.15 compounds are rhombohedral down to 2 K. The structural parameters evidence that the orthorhombic phase is not long-range orbitally ordered and that the structural transition is associated with a steric effect. The Mg-free compound is ferromagnetic with the Curie point of around 150 K and a magnetic moment of 3.1 μ B /Mn. The substitution of Nb5+ with Mg2+ leads to a gradual weakening of the ferromagnetic component while in the x = 0.15 compound A-type antiferromagnetic short-range order is stabilized in spite of macroscopic R 3 ¯ c symmetry. All the compositions show insulating behavior. It is suggested that ferromagnetism is originated from superexchange interactions via oxygen. Covalence enhances the positive part of the superexchange interactions whereas structural disorder induced by Nb5+ and Mg2+ ions leads to suppression of ferromagnetism.

Аннотация: Compound La0.7Sr0.3Mn0.85Nb0.15O3, in which manganese ions are in an oxidation state close to 3+, are studied by neutron diffraction and magnetic measurements. This compound is shown to be a ferromagnet with T C = 145 K and a magnetic moment of 3.1 μB/Mn at T = 10 K. No signs of cooperative orbital ordering are detected. When Mg2+ ions substitute for some Nb5+ ions, Mn4+ ions appear but ferromagnetism is not enhanced. An increase in the structural distortions leads to a decrease in the ferromagnetic component. The ferromagnetic state is assumed to be caused by substantial hybridization of the e g orbitals of manganese and oxygen, which increases the positive part of the superexchange interactions.

Аннотация: A ferromagnetic Fe–In2O3 nanocomposite thin film has been synthesized by the thermite reaction Fe2O3+In→Fe–In2O3. Measurements of the Hall carrier concentration, Hall mobility and magnetoresistance have been conducted at room temperature. The nanocomposite Fe–In2O3 thin film had n=1.94·1020 cm−3, μ=6.45 cm2/Vs and negative magnetoresistance. The magnetoresistance for 8.8 kOe was ~−0.22%.The negative magnetoresistance was well described by the weak localization and model proposed by Khosla and Fischer.

Аннотация: We report ferromagnetic and spin-wave resonance measurements on the electroless deposited thin films of Fe-Ni alloy including alloy with invar content. From spin-wave resonance spectrum we defined the dependences of resonance fields on the number of mode. Analysis of this spectrum shows that positions of resonance fields are described by the Kittel dispersion relation. Аннотация: The PbMnBO4 orthoborate single crystals were first grown and their magnetic properties and ferromagnetic resonance were studied. It was found that the ferromagnetic state below the Curie temperature TC=31 K is characterized by the strong magnetic anisotropy. The significant effective anisotropy fields of PbMnBO4 determine the energy gap in the FMR spectrum, which is extraordinary large for ferromagnets (112 GHz at T=4.2 K). It was shown that the static Jahn-Teller effect characteristic of the Mn3+ ion leads to both the ferromagnetic ordering and the strong magnetic anisotropy in the crystal. In the strong external magnetic field the induced ferromagnetic ordering is retained in the crystal above the Curie temperature up to the temperatures multiply higher than TC. A weak anomaly of the dielectric permittivity was observed in PbMnBO4 at the Curie temperature at which the long-range ferromagnetic order is established. © 2016 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Аннотация: We consider the 2D Hubbard model in the strong-coupling case (U W) and at low electron density (nd(2) ≪1). We find an antibound state as a pole in the two-particle T-matrix. The contribution of this pole in the self-energy reproduces a two-pole structure in the dressed one-particle Green-function similar to the Hubbard-I approximation. We also discuss briefly the Engelbrecht-Randeria mode which corresponds to the pairing of two holes below the bottom of the band for U W and low electron density. Both poles produce nontrivial corrections to Landau Fermi-liquid picture already at low electron density but do not destroy it in 2D.

Аннотация: Hysteresis and relaxation of magnetoresistance and magnetization of substituted (La0.5Eu0.5)(0.7)Pb0.3MnO3 lanthanum manganite in a low-temperature region ( 40 K) are investigated. It is shown that at these temperature features of the magnetoresistive effect are determined mainly by spin-dependent tunnelling of carriers via insulating grain boundaries. As was demonstrated previously, the grain boundaries may be antiferromagnetically ordered. Therefore, relaxation of magnetization and resistance is determined by the processes of relative orientation of the magnetic moments of ferromagnetic domains neighbouring the antiferromagnetic boundary of ferromagnetic domains under the action of temperature fluctuations. It is shown that relaxation follows the logarithmic law within the time interval t similar to 10(2)-3x10(3) s. A comparison between time evolutions of the magnetic moment and resistance shows that magnetoresistance and magnetization are related as delta R

Аннотация: The band structure, spectral intensity, and position of the Fermi level in doped p-type La1-xMx2+ MnO3 manganites (M = Sr, Ca, Ba) is analyzed using the LDA + GBT method for calculating the electronic structure of systems with strong electron correlations, taking into account antiferro-orbital ordering and using the Kugel-Khomskii ideas and real spin S = 2. The results of the ferromagnetic phase reproduce the state of a spin half-metal with 100% spin polarization at T = 0, when the spectrum is of the metal type for a quasiparticle with one spin projection and of the dielectric type for the other. It is found that the valence band becomes approximately three times narrower upon a transition to the paramagnetic phase. For the paramagnetic phase, metal properties are observed because the Fermi level is located in the valence band for any nonzero x. The dielectrization effect at the Curie temperature is possible and must be accompanied by filling of d(x) orbitals upon doping. The effect itself is associated with strong electron correlations, and a complex structure of the top of the valence band is due to the Jahn-Teller effect in cubic materials. Аннотация: The behavior of temperature dependences of electrical resistance and magnetoresistance of polycrystalline substituted lanthanum manganite (La0.5Eu0.5)(0.7)Pb0.3MnO3 at low temperatures was thoroughly studied. A broad hysteresis was found in the field dependences of electrical resistance in the low-temperature region. Above 40 K, no hysteresis feature was observed. The temperature T = 40 K corresponds to the temperature of minimum electrical resistance and the temperature T-N to the antiferromagnet-paramagnet phase transition of the material of the intergrain boundaries. In this work we propose a model which explains the observed features of the rho(T) and rho(H) curves at temperatures below T-N by the formation of a network of ferromagnet-antiferromagnet-ferromagnet tunnel contacts. Аннотация: The energy spectrum of heavy fermions in an external magnetic field is calculated for canted magnetic sublattices of antiferromagnetic intermetallides. This makes it possible to determine low-temperature features of electronic heat capacity of heavy-fermion antiferromagnets with the metal-type ground state taking into account the structural rearrangement of the magnetic subsystem. The calculated temperature dependences of the magnetization, heat capacity, and Sommerfeld constant in the vicinity of the point of transition to the antiferromagnetic phase correlate with experimental data obtained for heavy-fermion antiferromagnets PuGa3, Ce2Au2Cd, YbNiSi3, and PuPd5Al2.

Аннотация: Temperature, magnetic field and spectral dependences of magneto-optical effects (MOEs) in bi-layer films Dy(1-x)Nix-Ni and Dy(1-x)(NiFe)(x)-NiFe were investigated, x changes from 0 to 0.06. Peculiar behavior of the MOEs was revealed at temperatures essentially exceeding the Curie temperature of bulk Dy which is explained by the magnetic ordering of the Dy layer containing Ni under the action of two factors: Ni impurities distributed homogeneously over the whole Dy layer and atomic contact of this layer with continues Ni layer. The mechanism of the magnetic ordering is suggested to be associated with the change of the density of states of the alloy Dy(1-x)Nix owing to hybridization with narrow peaks near the Fermi level character for Ni. Аннотация: We present a detailed study on the magnetic order in the undoped mother compound LaFeAsO of the recently discovered Fe-based superconductor LaFeAsO(1-x)F(x). In particular, we present local probe measurements of the magnetic properties of LaFeAsO by means of (57)Fe Mossbauer spectroscopy and muon-spin relaxation in zero external field along with magnetization and resistivity studies. These experiments prove a commensurate static magnetic order with a strongly reduced ordered moment of 0.25(5)mu(B) at the iron site below T(N)=138 K, well separated from a structural phase transition at T(S)=156 K. The temperature dependence of the sublattice magnetization is determined and compared to theory. Using a four-band spin density wave model both, the size of the order parameter and the quick saturation below T(N) are reproduced.

Аннотация: The time evolution of the magnetoresistance of bulk YBCO + CuO composites at T = 4.2 K in constant applied magnetic fields was studied to clarify the mechanism of hysteretic behavior of magnetoresistance R(H) of granular HTSC. The composites represent "model" granular HTSC with weakened Josephson coupling between superconducting (YBCO) crystallites. It was found for the first time that on the ascending branch of R(H) dependence, the resistance at H = const decreased with time while on the descending branch, the resistance increased with time in ail applied constant magnetic field. In the range of low magnetic fields (below the minimum point of the descending branch of the R(H) dependence), the resistance at H const decreased again. Similar measurements performed oil pure polycrystalline YBCO at T = 77.4 K have shown that the behavior of evolution of resistance with time is similar to that observed for the composite. This proves the peculiarity of time evolution of maignetoresistance to be a common feature of granular HTSCs. The behavior revealed is well described by the model Of granular HTSC, where the intergrain media is in an effective magnetic field which is the superposition of the external field and the field induced by superconducting grains. The time evolution of resistance reflects the time relaxation of magnetization of HTSC grains due to the intragrain flux Creep Processes. (C) 2008 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

Аннотация: The double-layer Dy1-xNix/Ni structures have been studied in situ an ultrahigh-vacuum chamber by the original technique using the surface meridional Kerr effect directly in the course of deposition. It has been shown that a layer Dy1-xNix alloy is ferromagnetically ordered at room temperature.

Аннотация: The relationship is established between quantum phase transitions and complex geometric phases for open quantum systems governed by a non-Hermitian effective Hamiltonian with accidental crossing of the eigenvalues. In particular, the geometric phase associated with the ground state of the one-dimensional dissipative Ising model in a transverse magnetic field is evaluated, and it is demonstrated that the related quantum phase transition is of the first order.
