Аннотация: На основе механизма Кона-Латтинжера в модели Шубина-Вонсовского при учете межузельного кулоновского взаимодействия электронов из первой и второй координационных сфер исследована проблема куперовской неустойчивости. Показано, что учет ренормировок Кона-Латтинжера для эффективного взаимодействия во втором порядке теории возмущений, а также включение перескоков электронов между узлами, относящимися ко второй и третьей координационным сферам, существенно сказывается на конкуренции между сверхпроводящими фазами с dxy-, p-, s- и dx2-y2-симметриями параметра порядка.

Аннотация: The problem of Cooper instability is studied by implementing the Kohn–Luttinger mechanism in the frame-work of the Shubin–Vonsowsky model taking into account the intersite Coulomb interactions within the first and second coordination spheres. It is shown that the Kohn–Luttinger renormalization for the effective interaction in the second order terms of perturbation theory, as well as the inclusion of intersite hoppings in the second and third coordination spheres, significantly affects the interplay between the superconducting phases with dxy-, p-, s-, and dx2-y2 -wave symmetries of the order parameter.

Аннотация: Raman scattering spectra of Ho1−xNdxFe3(BO3)4 (x=0, x=0.22) crystals have been studied within 10–400 K temperature range. Structural phase transition was found under cooling at 366 K and 203 K respectively. Considerable modification in Raman spectra of the mixed crystal was found to be induced by magnetic ordering below Neel temperature. Results are interpreted using empirical simulation of crystal lattice dynamics and Raman intensities.

Аннотация: The behavior of the frequency-dependent coupling coefficients is investigated for a pair of microstrip resonators formed by conductors shaped as an asymmetrical hairpin. It is demonstrated that the total coupling coefficient of the resonators in a two-pole filter becomes close to zero in the region of the frequency of the second resonance due to mutual compensation for inductive and capacitive interactions. This allows a device for protection against high-power radio pulse to be developed based on such resonators with additional hairpin resonator containing control element manufactured from high-temperature superconductor (HTS) film. Аннотация: We present a detailed study of the symmetry and structure of the pairing gap in Fe-based superconductors. We treat them as quasi-2D systems, decompose the pairing interaction into s− wave and d− wave channels and into contributions from scattering between different Fermi surfaces and analyze how each scattering evolves with doping and input parameters. We verify that each interaction is well approximated by the lowest angular harmonics and use this simplification to analyze the interplay between the interaction with and without spin-fluctuation components, the origin of the attraction in the s± and d x 2 −y 2 channels, the competition between them, the nature of angular dependence of the s± gaps along the electron Fermi surface, the conditions under which s± gap develops nodes, and the origin of superconductivity in heavily electron- or hole-doped systems, when only Fermi surfaces of one type are present. In particular, we find that with increased electron and hole doping, the competition from d− wave grows. In the case of strong hole doping, there is some ambiguity over the leading solution, but in the case of strong electron doping, d− wave emerges as clear winner.

Аннотация: We introduce an effective low-energy pairing model for Fe-based superconductors with s- and d-wave interaction components and a small number of input parameters and use it to study the doping evolution of the symmetry and the structure of the superconducting gap. We argue that the model describes the entire variety of pairing states found so far in the Fe-based superconductors and allows one to understand the mechanism of the attraction in s(±) and d(x(2)-y(2)) channels, the competition between s- and d-wave solutions, and the origin of superconductivity in heavily doped systems, when only electron or only hole pockets are present.

Аннотация: High-resolution polarized broadband (1800–23 000 cm−1) optical absorption spectra of Tb3+ in TbFe3(BO3)4 single crystals are studied between room temperature and 4.2 K. The spectral signatures of the structural (R32–P3121, TS = 192 K) and magnetic (TN = 41 K) phase transitions are found and analyzed. Energies and symmetries of the Tb3+ crystal-field (CF) levels were determined for both the high-temperature R32 and the low-temperature P3121 structures of TbFe3(BO3)4 and compared with the calculated ones. It follows unambiguously from the spectral data that the ground state is the Γ1 + Γ2 quasi-doublet of the local D3 point symmetry group for Tb3+ in the R32 high-temperature structure. The CF calculations revealed the CF parameters and wavefunctions for Tb3+ in TbFe3(BO3)4. The value of the Tb–Fe exchange integral and of the effective magnetic field created by the ordered Fe subsystem were estimated as Jfd = 0.26 K and Beff = 3.92 T, using the observed splitting Δ = 32 cm−1 of the Tb3+ ground quasi-doublet at the temperature 5 K. The reliability of the obtained parameters was proven by modeling the literature data on the magnetic susceptibility of TbFe3(BO3)4. Lattice distortions below TS were evidenced by the observed changes of probabilities of the forced electric dipole transitions of Tb3+.

Аннотация: The structures of the LiI and NaI salts of 2-thiobarbituric acid (2-sulfanylidene-1-3-diazinane-4,6-dione, H 2TBA) have been studied. μ-Aqua-octaaquabis(μ-2- thiobarbiturato-κ2 O:O′)bis(2-thiobarbiturato-κO) tetralithium(I) dihydrate, [Li4(C4H3N 2O2S)4(H2O)9]·2H 2O, (I), crystallizes with four symmetry-independent four-coordinated LiI cations and four independent HTBA- anions. The structure contains two structurally non-equivalent LiI cations and two non-equivalent HTBA- anions (bridging and terminal). Eight of the coordinated water ligands are terminal and the ninth acts as a bridge between LiI cations. Discrete [Li4(HTBA)4(H2O)9] ·2H2O complexes form two-dimensional layers. Neighbouring layers are connected via hydrogen-bonding interactions, resulting in a three-dimensional network. Poly[μ2-aqua-tetraaqua(μ4-2- thiobarbiturato-κ4 O:O:S:S)(μ2-thiobarbiturato- κ2 O:S)disodium(I)], [Na2(C4H 3N2O2S)2(H2O) 5] n , (II), crystallizes with six-coordinated NaI cations. The octahedra are pairwise connected through edge-sharing by a water O atom and an O atom from the μ4-HTBA- ligand, and these pairs are further top-shared by the S atoms to form continuous chains along the a direction. Two independent HTBA- ligands integrate the chains to give a three-dimensional network. © 2013 International Union of Crystallography.

Аннотация: The optical spectra of oriented SmFe3(BO3)4 single crystals are studied in the region of the f-f transitions in the Sm3+ ion by Fourier spectroscopy. The energies, the symmetry properties, and the exchange splittings of the Stark sublevels of the ground and 17 excited multiplets of the Sm3+ ion in a crystal field of symmetry D 3 are determined from the measured temperature dependences of polarized-radiation absorption spectra. The parameters of the crystal field acting on samarium ions and the parameters of the exchange interaction between Sm3+ and Fe3+ ions are found. The anisotropy of the effective exchange interaction is shown to be substantially stronger than the magnetic anisotropy, due to a strong crystal-field-induced mixing of the ground and excited multiplets.

Аннотация: Idealized graphene monolayer is considered neglecting the van der Waals potential of the substrate and the role of the nonmagnetic impurities. The effect of the long-range Coulomb repulsion in an ensemble of Dirac fermions on the formation of the superconducting pairing in a monolayer is studied in the framework of the Kohn-Luttinger mechanism. The electronic structure of graphene is described in the strong coupling Wannier representation on the hexagonal lattice. We use the Shubin-Vonsowsky model which takes into account the intra- and intersite Coulomb repulsions of electrons. The Cooper instability is established by solving the Bethe-Salpeter integral equation, in which the role of the effective interaction is played by the renormalized scattering amplitude. The renormalized amplitude contains the Kohn-Luttinger polarization contributions up to and including the second-order terms in the Coulomb repulsion. We construct the superconductive phase diagram for the idealized graphene monolayer and show that the Kohn-Luttinger renormalizations and the intersite Coulomb repulsion significantly affect the interplay between the superconducting phases with f-, d+id-, and p+ip-wave symmetries of the order parameter. Аннотация: Infrared (IR) absorption spectra of HoFe3(BO3)4 crystal have been obtained in spectral range 30–7000 cm−1 at temperatures from 4 to 423 K. Vibrational frequencies have been simulated with ‘Lady’ software package both for high-temperature and low-temperature phases. The experimental spectra have been analyzed on the basis of calculated data, and interpreted within the framework of internal vibrations of ionic complexes of HoFe3(BO3)4 crystal lattice. The spectral range under study was observed to have no Davydov splitting of internal vibrational modes due to unit cell multiplication. No effects of magnetic ordering on the IR spectra of the crystal under study were observed in the low-temperature range.

Аннотация: The Lorentz tensor components L (j) for poly(vinylidene fluoride-trifluoroethylene, 70/30) Langmuir-Blodgett films in the ferroelectric phase are determined experimentally. The results indicate that intralayer dipole-dipole interaction between the segments of the polymer is stronger than interlayer interaction. This conclusion agrees with the absence of the critical film thickness below which ferroelectricity would cease to exist.

Аннотация: We present a review of theoretical investigations into the Kohn-Luttinger nonphonon superconductivity mechanism in various 3D and 2D repulsive electron systems described by the Fermi-gas, Hubbard, and Shubin-Vonsovsky models. Phase diagrams of the superconducting state are considered, including regions of anomalous s-, p-, and d-wave pairing. The possibility of a strong increase in the superconducting transition temperature T c even for a low electron density is demonstrated by analyzing the spin-polarized case or the two-band situation. The Kohn-Luttinger theory explains or predicts superconductivity in various materials such as heterostructures and semimetals, superlattices and dichalcogenides, high-T c superconductors and heavy-fermion systems, layered organic superconductors, and ultracold Fermi gases in magnetic traps. This theory also describes the anomalous electron transport and peculiar polaron effects in the normal state of these systems. The theory can be useful for explaining the origin of superconductivity and orbital currents (chiral anomaly) in systems with the Dirac spectrum of electrons, including superfluid 3He-A, doped graphene, and topological superconductors.

Аннотация: The effect of 0, 0.5, and 1 μm-thick Ag interlayers on the chemical interaction between Pd and Fe in epitaxial Pd(0 0 1)/Ag(0 0 1)/Fe(0 0 1)/MgO(0 0 1) and Fe(0 0 1)/Ag(0 0 1)/Pd(0 0 1)/MgO(0 0 1) trilayers has been studied using X-ray diffraction, 57Fe Mössbauer spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and magnetic structural measurements. No mixing of Pd and Fe occurs via the chemically inert Ag layer at annealing temperatures up to 400 °C. As the annealing temperature is increased above 400 °C, a solid-state synthesis of an ordered L10-FePd phase begins in the Pd(0 0 1)/Ag(0 0 1)/Fe(0 0 1) and Fe(0 0 1)/Ag(0 0 1)/Pd(0 0 1) film trilayers regardless of the thickness of the buffer Ag layer. In all samples, annealing above 500 °C leads to the formation of a disordered FexPd1−x(0 0 1) phase; however, in samples lacking the Ag layer, the synthesis of FexPd1−x is preceded by the formation of an ordered L12-FePd3 phase. An analysis of the X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy results shows that Pd is the dominant moving species in the reaction between Pd and Fe. According to the preliminary results, the 2.2 μm-thick Ag film does not prevent the synthesis of the L10-FePd phase and only slightly increases the phase’s initiation temperature. Data showing the ultra-fast transport of Pd atoms via thick inert Ag layers are interpreted as direct evidence of the long-range character of the chemical interaction between Pd and Fe. Thus, in the reaction state, Pd and Fe interact chemically even though the distance between them is about 104 times greater than an ordinary chemical bond length.

Аннотация: Diffusion is one of the unique phenomena that control major natural processes. It is a basic contributor to chemical reactions and structural transformations in solids.[1,2] Solid-state reactions, including those occurring in thin films and multilayers, comprise three successive stages: (1) breakage of reagent chemical bonds, (2) diffusion transfer of reagent atoms via a reaction product, and (3) rearrangement and formation of new bonds. The reaction rate is determined by step 2, which is the primary stage. Traditionally, solid-state diffusion of reacting atoms via a layer of a reaction product is considered to occur through an atomic exchange with nearest neighbors that leads to their random walk over a crystal lattice. The mean distance d that an atom moves over time t equals the mean-square atomic displacement 〈∆x2〉 and satisfies the Einstein equation d = 〈∆x2〉 = 2Dt. In numerous studies on solid-state reactions in thin films and multilayers, the parabolic growth of the reaction layer thickness d which satisfies the Einstein equation is presented as experimental proof of the diffusive nature of the reaction.
