Аннотация: The dielectric model for an arctic soil both thawed and frozen has been developed. The model is based on the soil dielectric measurements carried out in the ranges of gravimetric moisture from 0.01 to 0.43 g/g, dry soil density from 1.25 to 1.83 g/cm(3), and temperature from 25 to -30 degrees C (cooling run), in the frequency range 0.05-15 GHz. To fit the results of measurements of the soil complex dielectric constant as a function of soil moisture and wave frequency, the refractive mixing dielectric model in conjunction with the Debye multi-relaxation equations were applied. As a result, the spectroscopic parameters of dielectric relaxations for the bound, transient bound, and unbound soil water components were derived, being further complimented with the thermodynamics parameters to ensure a complete set of parameters of the temperature dependent multi-relaxation spectroscopic dielectric model for moist soils proposed. To calculate complex dielectric constant of soil, the following input variables have to be assigned: 1) density of dry soil, 2) gravimetric moisture, 3) wave frequency, and 4) temperature. The error of the dielectric model was evaluated in terms of RMSE, yielding the values RMSE of 0.53 and 0.43 for the soil dielectric constant and loss factor, respectively. These values appeared to be in the order of the dielectric measurement error itself. The dielectric model suggested can be applied in the active and passive remote sensing techniques in microwave to develop algorithms for retrieving soil moisture and freeze/thaw state of the topsoil in the Arctic regions.

Аннотация: Significant suppression of resonant properties of single gold nanoparticles at the surface plasmon frequency during heating and subsequent transition to the liquid state has been demonstrated experimentally and explained for the first time. The results for plasmonic absorption of the nanoparticles have been analyzed by means of Mie theory using experimental values of the optical constants for the liquid and solid metal. The good qualitative agreement between calculated and experimental spectra support the idea that the process of melting is accompanied by an abrupt increase of the relaxation constants, which depends, beside electronphonon coupling, on electron scattering at a rising number of lattice defects in a particle upon growth of its temperature, and subsequent melting as a major cause for the observed plasmonic suppression. It is emphasized that observed effect is fully reversible and may underlie nonlinear optical responses of nanocolloids and composite materials containing plasmonic nanoparticles and their aggregates in conditions of local heating and in general, manifest itself in a wide range of plasmonics phenomena associated with strong heating of nanoparticles. © 2016 Optical Society of America.

Аннотация: The dielectric model for an arctic silt clay loam soil collected on the Yamal peninsula both thawed and frozen has been developed. The model is based on the soil dielectric measurements carried out in the ranges of gravimetric moisture 0.01 to 0.33 g/g, dry soil density 1.28 to 1.65 g/cm3, and temperature 25 to -30°C (cooling run), in the frequency range 0.1-15 GHz. To fit the results of measurements of the soil complex dielectric constant as a function of soil moisture and wave frequency, the refractive mixing dielectric model in conjunction with the Debye multi-relaxation equations were applied. As a result, the spectroscopic parameters of dielectric relaxations and electrical specific conductivities for the bound, transient bound, and unbound soil water components were derived, being further complimented with the thermodynamics parameters. Having these parameters, the complex relative permittivity of soil can be predicted as a function of 1) density of dry soil, 2) gravimetric moisture, 3) wave frequency, and 4) temperature.

Аннотация: Dielectric relaxation and phase transition behaviors in (1–x)Pb(Zn1/3Nb2/3)O3-xBaTiO3 (PZN-BT) binary solid solutions have been systematically studied in this paper. All the compositions display a pure pseudo-cubic perovskite structure. As the BT contents increase from 10 mol% to 70 mol%, the phase transition peak becomes broader and broader, accompanying with decreases of ɛm (the maximum dielectric permittivity) and Tm (the temperature corresponds to the ɛm). Nevertheless, an abnormal increase of ɛm and Tm occurs when the BT contents exceeds 70 mol%, forming a “U” shaped curve of the compositional dependence of ɛm and Tm. Moreover, it is indicated from the new glass model fitting results that the characteristic parameter p, which represents the degree of relaxation, also shows a similar “U” shaped variation curve. Similarly, as shown in polarization-electric field loops, both remnant polarizations (Pr) and coercive fields (Ec) display the “U” shaped curve as the BT content changes from 10 mol% to 80 mol%. Finally, according to the similar variation of these key parameters mentioned above, a polarization mismatched model, which describes the destruction and reestablishment of the long range order arrangement in solid solutions composed of two kinds of ferroelectrics, is proposed to illustrate the underlying mechanism. In this PZN-BT system or other similar ABO3-type perovskite relaxors, the competition between the A-O and B-O coupling plays an important role to form the “U” shaped evolution of these key parameters.

Аннотация: Based on the proposed theory, we have investigated the shape of the NMR absorption spectra for 13C and 29Si nuclei in diamond and silicon crystals attributable to the internuclear dipole–dipole interaction. In accordance with the available experimental data, we have considered both crystals with a 100% content of magnetoactive isotopes and crystals with a comparatively low dilution by nonmagnetic nuclei. The time correlation functions (the first of which is the Fourier transform of the NMR spectrum) arising in an infinite chain of coupled differential equations are shown to be mutually similar with a slight time delay. The proposed theory allows the spectrum to be calculated analytically. The results obtained agree satisfactorily with the experimental ones. It is noted that the mutual similarity of the time correlation functions is probably a corollary of the development of dynamical chaos in the system.

Аннотация: Численным анализом микромагнитной модели обнаружена «резонансная» особенность процессов релаксации в нанокристаллических тонких магнитных пленках. Особенность проявляется в виде резкого уширения линии ферромагнитного резонанса (ФМР) на определенной частоте f 1, зависящей от магнитных характеристик пленки, и она наблюдается только в пленках, толщина которых превышает некоторое пороговое значение d min. Резкое уширение линии ФМР сопровождается значительным смещением резонансного поля, причем величина смещения меняет знак на частоте ~ f 1. Аналитически показано, что природа наблюдаемых эффектов связана с двухмагнонным процессом рассеяния спиновых волн на квазипериодической магнитной микроструктуре - «ряби» намагниченности. Полученные выражения для порогового значения толщины пленки d min и частоты максимального уширения линии ФМР f 1 хорошо согласуются с результатами численного расчета микромагнитной модели.
A resonant feature of the relaxation processes in nanocrystal magnetic thin films is revealed by numerical analysis for a micromagnetic model. This special feature is manifested through sharp broadening of the ferromagnetic resonance (FMR) line at the frequency f 1 depending on the magnetic characteristics of the film and is observed only in the films whose thickness exceeds a certain threshold value d min. The sharp broadening of the FMR lines is accompanied by a considerable displacement of the resonant field, and the displacement changes its sign at the frequency ~ f 1. It is analytically shown that the nature of the observable effects is connected with the two-magnon process of spin wave scattering on a quasi-periodic magnetic microstructure - magnetization ripples. The obtained expressions for the threshold value of the film thickness d min and the frequency f 1 of the maximal FMR line broadening are in good agreement with results of numerical calculation for the micromagnetic model.

Аннотация: The magnetoresistive effect in MnSe1−XTeX manganese chalcogenides with a substitute concentration of X = 0.1 is studied by impedance spectroscopy. The magnetoimpedance above the Neel temperature is found. The obtained experimental data are explained in the framework of the model of existence of magnetic nanoareas of two types. Two activation energies in the low- and high-frequency regions are determined from the frequency and temperature dependences of the permittivity described in the Debye model. The extrema found in the temperature dependence of the pyroelectric current are consistent with the maxima in the temperature dependence of magnetization. Temperature dependence of the carrier relaxation time is established. The magnetocapacitance of the MnSe1−XTeX solid solutions is found. The change in the carrier type above the Neel temperature and the temperature of the transition to the magnetically ordered state in the MnTe nanoarea is established.

Аннотация: We report on the behavior of frequency and temperature dependences of the impedance of a measuring cell in the form of a parallel-plate capacitor filled with barium hexaaluminate ceramics with four aluminum cations replaced by iron (BaO · 2Fe2O3 · 4Al2O3). The measurements have been performed in the frequency range of 0.5–108 Hz at temperatures of 20-375°C. A technique for determining the electrical properties of the investigated ceramics is proposed, which is based on an equivalent electric circuit allowing the recorded impedance spectra to be approximated with sufficiently high accuracy. The established spectral features are indicative of the presence of two electric relaxation times different from each other by three orders of magnitude. This fact is explained by the difference between the charge transport processes in the bulk of crystallites and thin intercrystallite spacers, for which the charge activation energies have been determined.

Аннотация: Singular points of spin autocorrelation functions on the imaginary time axis, which determine the arguments of exponential high-frequency asymptotic behaviors, have been analyzed. It has been shown that randomly distributed inhomogeneous magnetic fields expand the wings of spectra of autocorrelation functions and, thereby, intensify the heating of a system subjected to variable magnetic fields, which are used to create effective Hamiltonians or at the saturation of inhomogeneously broadened EPR lines.

Аннотация: The characteristic features of the critical spin dynamics of the cubic ferrimagnets Y3Fe5O12 and MnFe2O4 in the exchange temperature region above T(c) have been studied. The magnetic-dipole relaxation of the uniform magnetization of these ferrimagnets is shown to be suppressed. The relaxation channel due to the local uniaxial anisotropy, with a new temperature dependence, is the dominant channel.

Аннотация: A difference is predicted between the peaks, nu(VV) and nu(VH), Of the polarized components J(VV)(nu) and J(VH)(nu) in the steady-state spectrum of impurity fluorescence in an isotropic solution. This difference would result from a temporal correlation between an orientational Brownian diffusion of excited fluorescing molecules and a structural relaxation of the surrounding matrix molecules.

Аннотация: The general molecular-statistical approach is proposed for the analysis or the polarized luminescence spectrum for impurity molecule of an arbitrary symmetry in the nematic liquid crystal matrix. On the particular example of uniaxial molecules the influence of features of the molecular electron structure, orientational statistics, molecular dynamics, and features of the anisotropic intermolecular coupling upon the positions of maxima v(if)(t) of impurity fluorescence polarized bands J(ij)(t) is studied. For the first time it is shown that all these factors significantly affect the degree of spectrum v(ij)(t) degeneration. For t not-equal 0, relaxation of excited impurity molecule subsystem toward the orientational distribution lifts a partial degeneration of spectrum v(ij), occuring at t not-equal 0, and renews partial or total degeneration of spectrum v(ij) in the limit t = infinity. In the lack of the spectrum v(ij) degeneration for t = 0 the relaxation may restore partial degeneration for t not-equal 0 as a function of the features of electron structure of molecules. The results of work explain the familiar experimental data on the number of independent component v(ij) and relation between them, on dependence of v(ij) upon the order of matrix and impurity subsystem, on the mutual relation in the positions of impurity band polarized component in the absorption and fluorescence spectra.

Аннотация: A new approach is proposed for interpreting the polarized fluorescence spectra of an impure liquid crystal in which the orientational order of excited impurity molecules has undergone relaxation. This approach has also been realized experimentally. The new experimental data demonstrate a new relaxation process with a time scale on the order of 10(-11)-10(-9) s.
