Аннотация: Bound states in the continuum (BICs) or embedded trapped modes are widely studied in different physical systems. The studies are restricted to a single open scattering channel. In the present paper we consider BICs embedded into several continua in a cylindrical resonator opened by two coaxially attached cylindrical waveguides with different radii. We demonstrate that engineering the BICs requires a degeneracy of three eigenmodeds of the closed resonator. That is achieved by variation of both the length and the radius of the resonator.

Аннотация: The paper is devoted to an investigation of two-conductor suspended-substrate resonators. For the purpose of miniaturization conductors of a resonator are folded. Four types of the resonator differing in conductors’ configurations were considered. Their Q0-factors and resonant frequencies were studied. Based on results of the study two types of the resonator appeared unsuitable for an application in compact filters. Two other types were investigated in concern of their interaction: dependencies of coupling coefficients versus space between resonators and versus distance from substrate’s surfaces, and package’s covers were obtained. Based on the dependences a type of the resonator suitable for designing compact BPF was chosen. A four-pole BPF was simulated and fabricated. Good agreement between simulated and experimental results is observed. The main filter’s characteristics are the next: substrate has ε = 80, thickness 0.5 mm, lateral sizes 0.13λg × 0.09λg (18.7mm× 13.2 mm). The central frequency is 305 MHz; bandwidth is 39 MHz; passband minimum insertion loss is 2.0 dB; passband return loss is less −14.6dB; −40 dB stopband width is 480 MHz.

Аннотация: A multimode resonator is proposed, containing five resonant modes that are incorporated in the passband forming. The structure is based on a dielectric substrate suspended in a metallic case that allows solving problem of electromagnetic compatibility. Due to features of the resonator's structure, several higher modes do not excite that significantly improve the performance of the filter's stopband. The resonator advantages are proved on the ultra-wide bandpass filter (101%) with small overall size (0.11λ 0×0.06λ 0×0.03λ 0) and good stopband performance (first spurious band locates at 8 GHz, suppression is 80 dB).

Аннотация: A new method for observation of ferromagnetic resonance spectra is demonstrated. Its operation based on the registering a damping pole in the frequency response of two-resonator microstrip structure containing a sample under investigation. A damping pole arises due to mutual compensation of capacitive (electric) and inductive (magnetic) interactions between the resonators and this compensation get broken in the ferromagnetic resonance.

Аннотация: Microstrip high-pass filters were investigated by means of electrodynamic numerical analysis of 3D models. In the microwave constructions a new multimode resonator with a strip conductor of 'E' shape was used, the central segment of which is grounded at its base. Аннотация: An ultra-wideband bandpass filter formed by cascading of a novel high-pass filter (HPF) and a low-pass filter (LPF) on suspended substrates with a two-sided pattern of strip conductor has been investigated. The high selectivity of the HPF is ensured by the transmission zeros near the passband, the number of which is equal to the filter order. A second-order HPF has been designed on a 0.5-mm-thick substrate with a permittivity of ε = 9.8 using the numerical electrodynamic analysis of a 3D model of the filter. The experimental HPF prototype has a cutoff frequency of fb = 0.25 GHz at a level of –3 dB and a passband that extends to 5 GHz. The ultra-wideband bandpass filter formed by cascading of the LPF and the designed HPF has a fractional bandwidth of Δf/f0 = 150% with a central frequency of f0 = 1 GHz. It has the broad and deep high-frequency stopband, which extends to a frequency of 7.8f0 at a suppression level of –100 dB.

Аннотация: A structure that consists of a λ/4 stepped-impedance microstrip resonator is proposed as an instrument for the investigation of nonlinear effects in thin magnetic films and also can be used as a microwave frequency doubler. A conversion efficiency of 0.65% is observed at a one-layer 100 nm Ni80Fe20 thin film at an input signal level of 4.6 W for a 1 GHz probe signal. The maximum measured conversion efficiency (1% at 1 GHz) was achieved for the 9-layer Ni80Fe20 film where 150 nm magnetic layers were separated by SiO2 layers.

Аннотация: We consider the bound states in the continuum (BICs) or embedded trapped modes in an open spherical acoustic resonator. The eigenfrequencies of closed resonator are 2l+1-fold degenerated, where l is the orbital index. An attachment of two cylindrical waveguides lifts this degeneracy and transforms the eigenfrequencies into resonances whose real parts depend on the position of the waveguides. When the waveguides are angled by θ ≠ π, variation over that angle gives rise to avoided crossings of resonant modes with different l to result in the Friedrich-Wintgen BICs. For θ = π there might be only the symmetry protected BICs. When three waveguides are connected to the spherical resonator the Friedrich-Wintgen BICs occur due to the avoided crossings of resonant modes with the same l but different azimuthal indices -l ≤ m ≤ l.

Аннотация: A new miniature design of a highly selective lowpass filter based on a suspended substrate with a two-sided stripline pattern has been developed. The filter frequency response slope (cutoff attenuation rate) and stopband attenuation depth are determined by transmission zeros, the number of which is equal to the filter order. An experimental prototype of a fifth-order lowpass filter on 0.5-mm-thick alumina substrate with dielectric permittivity ε = 9.8 has been synthesized with the aid of numerical electrodynamic analysis of a three-dimensional model. The cutoff frequency of the filter passband at a –1-dB level is fc = 1.75 GHz. The stopband width at a –100-dB attenuation level reaches 4.4fc.

Аннотация: This paper presents a ferrite tunable waveguide filter showing high Qu and high tunability in X-band. A new type of waveguide cavity resonator with an H102 operating mode was proposed for the creation of a low-loss, two-pole filter. The filter results in an insertion loss of 3.6-4.1 dB over the tuning range 8.74-9.63 GHz with a relative bandwidth of 0.92-0.79% and biasing magnetic field 0-600 Oe. This design demonstrates an unloaded quality factor of 380-396 over the tunable frequency range. © 2016 IEEE.

Аннотация: A multilayered, multi-conductor stripline resonator is proposed. It is shown that increase in the number of conductors leads to increase the unloaded Q-factor and decrease the resonant frequency, with increasing the effects for thinner dielectric interlayer. Application of the resonator to the bandpass filter enables designing bandpass filters with very wide and deep stopbands. To prove this, a 4-pole bandpass filter, having central frequency 360 MHz and an overall size of 15.5 × 31.75 × 8.45 mm3, was designed and fabricated.

Аннотация: New multimode irregular microstrip resonators and designs of wideband bandpass filters based on them are being theoretically and experimentally investigated. A central multimode resonator electromagnetically connected with single-mode or two-mode resonators at the input and output of a structure are used in the developed filters. It is the first experience giving the possibility of combining inherent frequencies up to six lowest modes of oscillations, which are involved in the formation of the bandpass of the multimode resonator. Strong interaction of oscillations modes leads to its significant extension. © 2016 IEEE.

Аннотация: The natural frequencies of the multimode microstrip resonator «hairpin with stub» were investigated from its constructive data. Application in the resonator of the stub allows not only to observe on amplitude-frequency characteristic the poles of power attenuation, and also to considerably reduce frequencies of all its even modes of oscillations. At the same time frequencies of odd modes don't change. It allows to use in addition two resonances participating in formation of expanded bandwidth of the filter based on such resonator. High frequency-selective properties of such design are caused not only the poles of power attenuation located as near low-frequency, and high-frequency slopes of bandwidth, but also wide stop band. © 2016 IEEE.

Аннотация: Microstrip bandpass filters to the 6th order, based on 2D electromagnetic crystals were studied. The good conformance of the calculated characteristics in comparison with the received characteristics on experimentally made model of microwave device is shown. © 2016 IEEE.

Аннотация: The paper examines the characteristics of the miniature sensor of weak magnetic fields on the resonant microstrip structure with a thin ferromagnetic film. The authors calculated the frequency response of irregular microstrip resonator containing anisotropic magnetic film in quasi-static approximation. The resonator is connected to transmission lines via coupling capacities. The authors determined the optimal directional angles of the constant magnetic displacement field ensuring maximum sensitivity of the sensor. They examined the impact of angular and amplitude dispersion of uniaxial magnetic anisotropy of thin film upon the sensor characteristics. The regularities determined in this research qualitatively agree with the experimental results.

Аннотация: The polarization exchange effect in a twisted-nematic Fabry-Perot resonator is experimentally confirmed in the regimes of both uniform and electric-field-deformed twisted structures. The polarization of output light in the transmission peaks is shown to be linear rather than elliptical. The polarization deflection from the nematic director grows from 0 degrees to 90 degrees. angle and exchanges the longitudinal and transverse directions. Untwisting of a nematic by a voltage leads to the rotation of the polarization plane of light passing through the resonator. The polarization exchange effect allows using the investigated resonator as a spectral-selective linear polarizer with the voltage-controlled rotation of the polarization plane.

Аннотация: An original microstrip resonator design with a strip conductor split by a slot at one of its ends is investigated. It is demonstrated that at the optimal slot sizes, when the eigenfrequency of the second oscillation mode hits the center between the first and third oscillation modes, the resonator can work as a thirdorder bandpass filter. The structure formed from only two such resonators electromagnetically coupled by split conductor sections is a miniature six-order wideband filter with high selectivity. The test prototype of the filter with a central passband frequency of ~1.2 GHz and a passband width of ~0.75 GHz fabricated on a substrate ~(45 × 11 × 1) mm3 in size with a permittivity of 80 is characterized by minimum loss in a passband of 0.5 dB. The parametric synthesis of the filter structure was performed using electrodynamic analysis of the 3D model. The measured characteristics of the test prototype agree well with the calculated data.

Аннотация: A microwave power limiter based on three-pole microstrip filter is designed, fabricated and tested. In the device outer resonators are coupled through an inner resonator containing high-temperature superconducting film. Prototype of the device with central frequency 8.3 GHz and relative bandwidth 7% has insertion loss 3 dB in the open state and signal suppression not less 35 dB in the limitation state.
