Аннотация: The possibility of creating a polarization-sensitive absorber on the basis of the splitting of a Tamm plasmon polariton at the interface between a metallic film and an anisotropic nanocomposite layer conjugated with a photonic crystal is theoretically predicted. The effect of geometrical parameters on the optical absorption spectra under the critical coupling conditions is discussed. It is shown that, changing the polarization of the radiation falling onto the structure along its normal, one can control the absorption at the Tamm plasmon polariton wavelength.

Аннотация: Optical quality cm-sized LiInSe2 crystals were grown using the Bridgman–Stockbarger method, starting from pure element reagents, under the conditions of a low temperature gradient of 5–6 degrees/cm and a slight melt overheating. The phase purity of the grown crystal was verified by the powder XRD analysis. The thermophysical characteristics of LiInSe2 were determined by the XRD measurements in the temperature range of 303–703 K and strong anisotropy of the thermal expansion coefficients was established. The following values of thermal expansion coefficients were determined in LiInSe2: αa = 8.1 (1), αb = 16.1 (2) and αc = 5.64 (6) MK−1. The electronic structure of LiInSe2 was measured by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The band structure of LiInSe2 was calculated by ab initio methods.

Аннотация: This study is devoted to the development and research of multibeam antennas based on anisotropic metasurfaces with one or several feed points. An innovative technique for synthesizing the tensor impedance distribution for the formation of three beams from a radiating metasurface was proposed. Prototypes of the proposed antennas in the Ku-band frequency with one and three feed points were fabricated, and their characteristics were experimentally investigated. The gain of the manufactured multibeam antennas reaches 23 dBi. Good agreement between the results of the numerical simulation and experimental data was achieved, which indicates the reproducibility of the synthesis method in practice. Multibeam antennas on anisotropic metasurfaces can be scaled to high frequencies and effectively used at operating frequencies up to the sub-terahertz range. Such antennas are promising for the development of terrestrial communication infrastructure as 5/6G transmitters and repeaters, as well as for use as a payload of low-orbit satellite systems.

Аннотация: The concentration dependences of the effective permittivity have been obtained for an anisotropic composite consisting of a dielectric matrix filled with codirectional particles in the form of oblate or prolate ellipsoids of revolution (spheroids). The calculation has been made by solving numerically a system of coupled quadratic and integral equations obtained using the rigorous modification of the quasi-static Bruggeman theory. It is shown that the traditional simplified modification of the Bruggeman theory, which is widely used for calculating anisotropic composites, leads to errors of different signs for electromagnetic waves of the longitudinal and transverse polarizations relative to the spheroid axes. The dependences of the errors on the particle concentration are nonmonotonic and extrema observed in them can exceed 100%. The positions and values of the extrema depend strongly on the ellipticity of particles and the contrast of their permittivity with that of the matrix.

Аннотация: The structural and magnetic properties of a niobium nitride (NbN) film prepared by reactive sputtering onto a quartz substrate are investigated. It is shown using scanning electron microscopy that the film has a columnar structure with a diameter of crystallite columns of about 50 nm. The film magnetization loops are measured for the field orientation parallel and perpendicular to its surface. Based on the experimental data, the critical current densities of the film are estimated in both cases. For the field parallel to the film surface, the estimate is 6.5 × 104 A/cm2 at the liquid helium temperature. For the field perpendicular to the surface, the critical current density is close to the depairing current density (107 A/cm2). Analysis of the results based on different models of magnetic vortex pinning in superconductors shows that in the former case, pinning occurs at the boundaries of columns in the bulk of the sample, while in the latter case, it is determined by the influence of the surface barrier.

Аннотация: This article is devoted to the data analysis of magneto-optical ellipsometry data when they are collected from structures with uniaxial optical anisotropy. The magneto-optical parameter, being a part of an off-diagonal tensor elements of dielectric permit tivity, was deduced through Maxwell equations consideration. The way of carrying out an experiment is also dicsussed.

Аннотация: We consider bound states in the continuum (BICs) in a 1D multilayered system of an anisotropic defect layer embedded into an anisotropic photonic crystal. We analytically demonstrate that an anisotropic defect layer embedded into anisotropic photonic crystal supports accidental BICs. These BICs can be transformed to high-Q resonances by variation of one of the system's parameters. At the same time, the BICs are remarkably robust in the sense that a true BIC can be recovered by further tuning any of the system's other parameters, leading to tunability of the resonance position.

Аннотация: The investigations of the crystal structure, magnetic and electronic properties of Co3BO5 at high temperatures were carried out using powder X-ray diffraction, magnetic susceptibility, electrical resistivity, and thermopower measurements. The orthorhombic symmetry (Sp.gr. Pbam) was observed at 300 K and no evidence of structural phase transitions was found up to 1000 K. The compound shows a strong anisotropy of the thermal expansion. A large negative thermal expansion along the a-axis is observed over a wide temperature range (T = 300–600 K) with αa = −35 M K−1 at T = 500 K with simultaneous expansion along the b- and c-axes with αb = 70 M K−1 and αc = 110 M K−1, respectively. The mechanisms of thermal expansion are explored by structural analysis. The activation energy of the conductivity decreases significantly above 700 K. Electronic transport was found to be a dominant conduction mechanism in the entire temperature range. The correlations between the thermal expansion, electrical resistivity, and effective magnetic moment were revealed and attributed to the evolution of the spin state of Co3+ ions towards the spin crossover and gradual charge-ordering transition.

Аннотация: A study is performed of the relationship between the sizes of cobalt crystallites and the coercive and anisotropic properties of Co–P films obtained via chemical deposition. The emergence of induced anisotropy in films obtained at low pH (7.2–8.7) is due to size effects that transform the cobalt’s crystal lattice from face-centered cubic to hexagonal close-packed as the film grows in a magnetic field.

Аннотация: This numerical study demonstrates the possibility of exciting a chiral optical Tamm state localized at the interface between a cholesteric liquid crystal and a polarization-preserving anisotropic mirror conjugated to a metasurface. The difference of the proposed structure from a fully dielectric one is that the metasurface makes it possible to decrease the number of layers of a polarization-preserving anisotropic mirror by a factor of more than two at the retained Q-factor of the localized state. It is shown that the proposed structure can be used in a vertically emitting laser.

Аннотация: An anisotropic photonic crystal containing two anisotropic defect layers is considered. It is demonstrated that the system can support a Fabry-Perot bound state in the continuum (FP-BIC). A fully analytic solution of the scattering problem as well as a condition for FP-BIC have been derived in the framework of the temporal coupled-mode theory.

Аннотация: In this paper, we propose a novel method for synthesizing a multibeam metasurface antenna (MSA) for use in a space application - a payload component of a small satellite as part of a low Earth orbit (LEO) satellite communication constellation. MSA is synthesized using the holographic technique with a divergent phase distribution. Using this method, a low-cost multi-beam Ku-band antenna with seven flattened beams is developed. The results of the numerical simulation and experimental study of the proposed seven-beam MSA were presented. The gain of each beam is about 25 dBi, the aperture efficiency of the MSA is ∼40%. Each individual beam had a separate feed point and its own inclination angle (0°, ±3.5°, ±7°, ±10.5°). This paper shows that the presented MSA is not inferior in its characteristics to similar solutions, but is more compact and lighter, and also allows the formation of complex radiation patterns.

Аннотация: High gain antennas based on metasurfaces with modulated surface impedance are a new class of antennas that have appeared in the last decade. They characterized by a simple design, but a relatively complex synthesis procedure. The paper briefly describes the modulated metasurface antennas principle of operation, and gives a specific method for calculating the anisotropic cell impedance tensor based on the calculation of cell eigenmodes in the infinite surface approximation. The method is intended for use at the first stage of the metasurface antenna synthesis, which consists in creating a database of cell tensorial impedances.

Аннотация: The ground state of a classical two-sublattice ferromagnet with the noncollinear single-ion anisotropy axes of the sublattices and the antisymmetric and anisotropic symmetric exchanges between them has been investigated in a magnetic field applied along the hard magnetization directions in the crystal. The threshold relations for the parameters of the anisotropic interactions have been obtained, which determine the choice of the ground state among the three possible magnetic phases. Depending on the ground state type and the field direction, the transition between the phases is a first- or second-order phase transition. The antisymmetric exchange value above which the reorientation between the noncollinear phases ends with a second-order transition depends on the angle between the local easy axes and the single-ion anisotropy value. Field dependences of the magnetization and susceptibility for different ground states have been calculated. A comparison with the results of the magnetic measurements in the highly anisotropic PbMnBO4 ferromagnet has been made.

Аннотация: Изучен эффект расщепления хирального оптического таммовского состояния ( локализованного на границе сохраняющего поляризацию анизотропного зеркала (СПАЗ) и холестерического жидкого кристалла (ХЖК) с красителем. Показаны условия возникновения высокодобротных резонансов, проявляемых в спектре отражения в виде провалов, которые м огут быть использованы при создании узкополосных фильтров.

Аннотация: The resonant splitting of optical Tamm state numerically is demonstrated. The Tamm state is localized at the interface between a resonant chiral medium and a polarization-preserving anisotropic mirror. The chiral medium is considered as a cholesteric liquid crystal doped with resonant dye molecules. The article shows that the splitting occurs when dye resonance frequency coincides with the frequency of the Tamm state. In this case the reflectance, transmittance, and absorptance spectra show two distinct Tamm modes. For both modes, the field localization is at the interface between the media. The external field control of configurable optical and structural parameters paves the way for use in tunable chiral microlaser.
