Аннотация: The magnetic properties of ordered and disordered MAX-phase Mn2-xFe2xGaC and Mn2Ga1-xFexC (x = 12.5, 25, and 50 at.%) have been studied within DFT-GGA. The investigation of phase stability of M2AX phases is performed by comparing the total energy of MAX phases to that of the set of competitive phases for calculation of the phase formation enthalpy. At the small concentration of Fe atoms (x = 12.5 %) compound remains stable. We have found that introducing Fe atom at A-site leads to the forming of ferromagnetic phase with large magnetic moments on magnetic atoms and magnetization. Through detailed group-theoretical analysis we have obtained that only ferromagnetic ordering is possible when Fe atom ordering over Ga sites. The study of exchange constants shows that the out-of-plane Fe-Mn exchange gives the main contribution in appearance of ferromagnetic phase. The temperature dependences of magnetization reveal the increase of Curie temperature in Mn2GaC with Fe atom incorporated into Ga-site.

Аннотация: MAX phases are a family of ternary layered compounds with formal stoichiometry M2AX and have a layered hexagonal structure. Calculations with the B3LYP density functional show that, by varying the ratio between the chromium and iron in the MAX phase (Cr4 – xFex)0.5SiC, it is possible to change the lattice parameters and the magnetic moment on metal atoms. In this phase, a partial substitution of one metal for the other can be considered a technique of intended variation of their magnetic properties.

Аннотация: First-row transition metal (TM) atoms adsorption and migration on nanoporus 2D materials like bigraphene with double vacancies and g-C3N4 as the active sites for TM nanocluster's growth was studied within the framework of density functional theory. Both thermodynamic and kinetic aspects of composite synthesis were discussed. It was found that potential barriers of adatom's migration from bigraphene's outer surface to the interlayer space through the double vacancy are rather low values. High potential barriers of TM migration along the carbon plane prevents TM clusterization due to enhanced chemical activity of double vacancies which gives a possibility to capture the surface adatoms. As was shown for the monolayer graphene, the decrease of vacancies concentration reduces the barrier of adatom migration along the surface while the second graphene sheet in bigraphene stabilizes the structure. The behavior of TM-atom regarding g-CN2 and g-CN1 nanosheets was investigated. Potential energy surfaces were obtained and discussed. The migration barriers were found surmountable that means high probability of migration of TM adatoms to global minima and formation of TM vacancies. Comparison of barriers values with Boltzmann factor demonstrated that just standalone temperature fluctuations cannot initiate structural transitions. The properties of designed structures can be of interest of catalysts and biosensors for biomedical applications.

Аннотация: The paper presents the results of the formation and study of the morphological and structural characteristics of the mesoporous ZnO / Al2O3 nanofibers film (ZANF). The deposition of a ZnO layer on Al2O3 nanofibers film (ANF) ~ 1 µm thick was carried out by the method of atomic layer deposition. The morphology of the mesoporous composite layer ZnO / Al2O3 (ZANF) has been studied by scanning and transmission electron microscopy. It is shown that in the process of atomic layer deposition, the ZnO layer grows according to the Stranski-Krastanov mechanism. A ZnO layer less than 5 nm thick gives an island structure in which Al2O3 nanofibers are uniformly coated with ZnO particles, an increase in the ZnO layer thickness to 15 nm demonstrates a continuous coating of Al2O3 nanofibers. The system has a core-shell structure. The resulting composite structures are promising for applications in photocatalysis and gas sensing.

Аннотация: With single-component photoinduced white-light (WL) emission, low-dimensional hybrid halide perovskites have emerged as a new generation of luminescent materials; however, the effect of halogens on the intrinsic light emissions and the corresponding mechanisms is still unknown. Herein, the investigation of a family of two-dimensional (2D) hybrid perovskites R2PbBr4−xClx (R = BA+, PMA+, PEA+; x = 0, 1, 2, 3, 4) highlights the influence of halogens on intrinsic emission to reveal the dependence of the photoluminescence on the nature and contribution of the halogens. Ultrabroad emissions covering the entire visible‐light region are achieved in the halogen hybrid systems with the stoichiometry of R2PbBr2Cl2 (R = BA+, PMA+, PEA+), showing their potential as single‐component WL phosphors in solid‐state lighting devices. The origin of the WL emissions is the synergistic recombination emission of free excitons and self‐trapped excitons. The ratio of halogens (Br/Cl) is confirmed to be a critical factor to fine‐tune the intrinsic emission properties. This work provides a feasible strategy to achieve single‐component WL emission in 2D hybrid perovskites, and proposes a method for regulating halogen contents for optimizing luminescent properties.

Аннотация: Doped halide pervoskites as highly efficient light emitters have recently fascinated the research community, while the influence of halogen atoms X (X = Cl, Br, I) on the hybrid energy levels and photoluminescence properties remains a challenge. Here, the role of X compositions in the two-dimensional hybrid perovskite BA2PbX4 (BA = C4H9NH3) on the doped Mn2+ emission is identified, wherein Mn2+ reveals a strong luminescence dependence on the nature of the halogen, and optimum Mn2+ emission with a record quantum yield of 60.1% has been achieved in BA2PbBr4. Density functional theory calculations show that BA2PbBr4 holds low Br vacancy concentration and unique coupled states of the Mn-3d level and Pb-6p level at the conduction band minimum, leading to efficient energy transfer from the host to Mn2+. Our work sheds new light on the methods to realize strong exciton–dopant exchange coupling for achieving high-efficiency dopant luminescence.

Аннотация: We propose and analyze an efficient scheme for the one- and two-dimensional atomic gratings based on periodic spatial modulation of the Raman gain and dispersion, which we name the Raman-induced diffraction gratings (RIDGs). There are fundamentally different from those based on electromagnetically induced transparency. As the probe field propagates along the direction normal to the standing pump wave, it can be effectively diffracted into high-order directions. The grating is a hybrid grating, i.e. it represents a mixture of amplitude and phase gratings. We identify the conditions when all high-order diffractions are amplified. In addition, we also show that diffraction of a probe field could be dynamically controlled using an additional laser field. With its help, it is possible to suppress or amplify diffraction beams. The RIDGs can be considered as all-optical multibeam splitters with amplification.

Аннотация: We suggest a simple scheme for creating a NOON state of repulsively interacting Bose atoms in the double-well potential. The protocol consists of two steps. First, by setting atom-atom interactions to zero, the system is driven to the upper excited state. Second, the interactions are slowly increased and, simultaneously, the interwell tunneling is decreased to zero. We analyze fidelity of the final state to the NOON state depending on the number of atoms, ramp rate, and fluctuations of the system parameters. It is shown that for a given fidelity the ramp rate scales algebraically with the number of atoms.

Аннотация: We theoretically analyze the ground state of weakly interacting bosons in the flux ladder - the system that has been recently realized by means of ultracold atoms in the specially designed optical lattice [M. Atala, M. Aidelsburger, M. Lohse, J. T. Barreiro, B. Paredes, and I. Bloch, Nat. Phys. 10, 588 (2014)1745-247310.1038/nphys2998]. It is argued that, for the system parameters corresponding to two degenerate minima in the Bloch dispersion relation, the ground state is a fragmented condensate. We study the Bogoliubov depletion of this condensate and discuss the role of boundary conditions. © 2017 American Physical Society.

Аннотация: We analyzemicroscopic models of the particle source or sink which consist of a one- or two-site Bose-Hubbard model (the system) weakly coupled to amany-site Bose-Hubbard model (the reservoir). Assuming unequal filling factors for the system and reservoir, we numerically study equilibration dynamics and compare it with the solution of the master equation on the reduced density matrix of the system. Necessary conditions for the validity of the master equation approach are formulated.

Аннотация: We have successfully synthesized magnetic titanium nickelide nanoparticles with equiatomic composition by pulsed laser ablation method. Using transmission electron microscopy and microanalysis was revealed that particles represent the homogeneous conglomerates containing identical amount of Ni and Ti atoms. The magnetization value of nanoparticles was estimated.

Аннотация: We discuss applications of the theory of quantum chaos to one of the paradigm models of many-body quantum physics - the Bose-Hubbard (BH) model, which describes, in particular, interacting ultracold Bose atoms in an optical lattice. After preliminary, pure quantum analysis of the system we introduce the classical counterpart of the BH model and the governing semiclassical equations of motion. We analyze these equations for the problem of Bloch oscillations (BOs) of cold atoms where a number of experimental results are available. The paper is written for nonexperts and can be viewed as an introduction to the field.

Аннотация: We discuss the dynamical response of strongly interacting Bose atoms in an adiabatically tilted optical lattice. The analysis is performed in terms of the multilevel Landau-Zener tunneling. Different regimes of tunneling are identified and analytical expressions for the doublon number, which is the quantity measured in laboratory experiments, are derived. © 2016 American Physical Society.

Аннотация: First-row transition metal atoms adsorption on bigraphene monovacancy was studied within the framework of DFT in periodic boundary conditions. Electronic and magnetic properties of composites were analyzed and their potential utilization in spintronics was discussed. Barriers of metal atoms migration from bigraphene surface to the interlayer space through the vacancy were estimated in order to consider both thermodynamic and kinetic aspects of composites experimental preparation. Formation of metal atoms inner-sorbed on bigraphene was found to demand harsh synthesis conditions; whereas outer-sorbed composites demonstrate significantly higher degree of spin polarization which makes them perspective for usage in spintronic devices. © 2015 Elsevier B.V.

Аннотация: We discuss the quantum phase transition between the Mott-insulator state and the density-wave state of cold Bose atoms in a two-dimensional (2D) square lattice as the lattice is adiabatically tilted along one of its primary axes. It is shown that a small misalignment of the tilt drastically changes the result of the adiabatic passage and, instead of the density-wave state, one obtains a disordered state. An intrinsic relation of the problem to Bloch oscillations of hard-core bosons in a 2D lattice is illuminated. © 2016 American Physical Society.
