Аннотация: Raman spectra of a polycrystalline sample of the perovskite-like oxyfluoride (NH4)(3)TiOF5 are measured in the frequency region 100-3600 cm(-1) at temperatures ranging from 91 to 370 K under hydrostatic pressures of up to 9 GPa, which include the range of the phase transition from the orientationally disordered cubic phase to the low-symmetry phase. Anomalies in the spectral parameters due to the phase transition are revealed in the range of vibrations of TiOF5 octahedral groups.

Аннотация: The Raman spectra of the elpasolite (Rb2KInF6) crystal have been studied in the pressure range from 0 to 5.3 GPa at a temperature of 295 K. A phase transition at a pressure of approximately 0.9 GPa has been found. An analysis of the variations in the spectral parameters has led to the conclusion that the phase transition to a distorted phase is accompanied by the doubling of the volume of the primitive cell of the initial cubic phase. Numerical calculations of the lattice dynamics in the Rb2KInF6 crystal have been performed. The numerical simulation has established that the phase transition at a pressure of 0.9 GPa is associated with condensation of the F (lg) mode. A probable high-pressure phase is the phase with space group C2/m.

Аннотация: Raman scattering spectra of perovskite-like (NH4)(3)WO3F3 oxyfluoride are studied in the 70-3600 cm(-1) frequency range and the 93-323 K temperature range including the transition point from orientationally disordered cubic phase into the lower symmetry one. Internal vibrations of ammonium ions and WO3F3 octahedra have been found to exhibit transition anomalies. Analysis of measurements suggests that the transition under study is due mainly to the ordering of octahedra.

Аннотация: The crystallographic and group theoretical analysis of the structural phase transitions in perovskite and perovskite-like crystals is reviewed. We include ABX(3) perovskites and their relative crystals of ReO3 type (G(0) = O-h(1)), elpasolites, cryolites and their relatives (G(0) = O-h(5)) layered crystals of TIAIF(4) series (G(0) = D-4h(1)), Aurivillius and Ruddlesden-Popper series (G(0) = D-4h(17)). The structures in their initial phase G(0) often contain n layers (n = 1, 2,3) of vertex linked octahedra. The distorted phases produced by one kind of tilt and by superposition of tilts in the slabs are enumerated. Most of the tilts correspond to symmetry changes, which can be associated to definite librational lattice modes irreducible representations of the G(0) group. The softening of modes associated to the PT has been found experimentally in many perovskites, elpasolites and layered crystals with n = 1. In contrast, no such soft modes have been found yet for even-layered (n = 2) crystals. Examples of successive phase transitions due to the superposition of tilts in these types of crystals have been collected.

Аннотация: The authors propose a way of reconstructing the Raman tensor by studying the angular dependences of the intensities of the Raman lines of unoriented microcrystals. The technique is verified using familiar calomel Hg2Cl2 crystals. It is shown that the lines on DUT-8 (Ni) crystals indicating phases with open and closed pores have different types of symmetries. The technique can be used to reconstruct the Raman tensor for any unoriented crystalline sample.

Аннотация: The temperature dependencies of position, width, and integral amplitude the E(TO) line near 307 cm−1 in Raman spectra in barium titanate powders with different non-hydrostatic pressure and temperature treatment were studied. It was found that parameters of the E(TO) line near 307 cm−1 are different in the crystal, the untreated powder, the powder treated by the non-hydrostatic pressure, and the powder annealed after the pressure treatment. The line width (FWHM) increase with temperature according to Klemens model. It indicates that the origin of the line broadening is the anharmonicity of the E(TO) phonons. The pressure treatment changes the anharmonicity of the phonon potential. It was found that the temperature dependence of the integral intensity of the E(TO) line is similar to that of the second optical harmonic signal and reflects the presence of the local polar regions. Thus, the E(TO) line in the Raman spectrum allows one to characterize the average polarity of local regions and their anharmonicity depending on non-hydrostatic pressures and thermal treatment.

Аннотация: We study the dynamical quasiparticle scattering by spin and charge fluctuations in Fe-based pnictides within a five-orbital model with on-site interactions. The leading contribution to the scattering rate is calculated from the second-order diagrams with the polarization operator calculated in the random-phase approximation. We find one-particle scattering rates which are highly anisotropic on each Fermi surface sheet due to the momentum dependence of the spin susceptibility and the multiorbital composition of each Fermi pocket. This fact, combined with the anisotropy of the effective mass, produces disparity between electrons and holes in conductivity, the Hall coefficient, and the Raman initial slope, in qualitative agreement with experimental data.

Аннотация: Solid daughter phases in fluid and salt melt inclusions in minerals provide important clues to characterization of mineral‐forming processes. The analysis of the fluid inclusions often requires the exposure of the daughter minerals. Rinneite (K3NaFeCl6), which is a hygroscopic mineral, decomposes in air and cannot thus be identified by conventional methods. A combined approach has been applied for investigation of synthetic and natural rinneite to acquire its diagnostic Raman spectrum for a nondestructive identification. We used natural rinneite inclusions in halite, suitable for applying a complex of methods, to clear up the reference spectrum. Improved high‐resolution X‐ray diffraction (XRD) data obtained from natural rinneite inclusion are comparable with that of previously published, with similar unit cell dimensions. Polarized Raman spectra of natural inclusions were obtained using different geometries and polarization of the incident and scattered light. Interpretation of experimental Raman spectra was performed within the framework of lattice dynamics simulations and group analysis. Individual spectral bands are interpreted in terms of Raman‐active vibrational modes of K3NaFeCl6 structural units. Raman spectrum of synthetic rinneite with main peaks at 75, 91, 103, 143, 167, 171, 187, and 239 cm−1 agrees well with the spectra of rinneite inclusions in halite from the Nepa potash deposit and rinneite daughter minerals in salt melt inclusions hosted by quartz veinlets from the porphyry gold systems in the Central Slovakia Volcanic Field. This provides a firm basis for any future identification of this mineral worldwide, using nondestructive Raman spectroscopy.

Аннотация: We propose a design of an all-optical transistor based on a one-dimensional photonic-crystal cavity doped with a four-level N-type active Raman gain medium. The calculated results show that in a photonic-crystal cavity of this kind transmission and reflection of the probe (Raman) beam are strongly dependent on the optical switching power. Transmission and reflection of the probe beam can be greatly amplified or attenuated. Therefore the optical switching field can serve as a gate field of the transistor to effectively control propagation of the weak probe field. It is shown that the group velocity of the probe pulse can be controlled in the range from subluminal (slow light) to superluminal (fast light).

Аннотация: We study light-pulse propagation in a dynamically controllable periodic structure (grating) resulting from Raman interaction of a weak probe pulse with a standing-wave pump and a second control laser field in. N-type four-level atomic media. The grating is induced due to periodic spatial modulation of the Raman gain in a standing pump field (Raman gain grating). We show that it is possible to control both the probe pulse amplitude and the group velocity of the pulse from subluminal to superluminal by varying the pump or control field. Such a grating is of interest for. all-optical switches and transistors.

Аннотация: We consider dynamically controllable periodic structures (gratings), resulting from Raman interaction of a weak probe field with a standing-wave pump and a second control laser field in four-level atomic media of N type. The gratings under study are induced due to periodic spatial modulation of the Raman gain in a standing pump field and fundamentally differ from the ones based on electromagnetically induced transparency. We show that spectral and transmission properties of these gratings can be controlled with the help of an additional weak field (control field) by varying its intensity or frequency. Small variations of the control field intensity can change the system from opaque to transparent and vice versa and this structure can operate as an all-optical transistor. Such a structure can also be used as a tunable nonlinear mirror with amplification.

Аннотация: We studied Fresnel diffraction of a Laguerre-Gaussian beam LGp,l with arbitrary azimuthal l and radial p indices on a grating induced during its Raman interaction with a spatially periodic pump field in an atomic medium. The diffraction pattern turned out to be more complex than the classical Talbot effect observed when a plane wave illuminates a two-dimensional grating. The simulation results show that, under certain conditions, at distances corresponding to the classical Talbot planes (integer and fractional), periodic amplitude-phase distributions appear. The diffraction patterns are not a probe-field image in the induced grating plane, but a regular array of vortex annular-shaped microbeams with an inhomogeneous intensity distribution depending on the l and p indices and with a topological charge equal to that of the initial probe beam. The intensity and spatial distribution of diffraction patterns can be controlled by Raman amplification in the induced grating by varying the pump-field intensity or the Raman detuning.

Аннотация: In this paper, we study diffraction of a vortex Gaussian probe beam on a two-dimensional (2D) Raman-induced diffraction grating. Both near- and far-field diffraction of a vortex beam is considered. In the near field, quasi-Talbot images occur at specific distances from the grating, which corresponds to the classical Talbot length. Diffraction patterns in the Talbot planes are a periodic 2D array of ring-like vortex beamlets with topological charges (TCs) equal to the illuminating probe beam's charge. The lateral (off-axis) beamlets consist of several overlapping vortices with the TCs l = 1 and l =-1, and their centers (singular points) are offset relative to each other. It is shown that in the near field the TC is conserved, and the total diffraction field represents a single (global) vortex with an effective TC equal to the charge of the vortex probe beam. In the far field, diffraction patterns are also a 2D array of ring-like local vortices with a period depending on the z coordinate. Their TCs are equal to the charge of the probe field. It is shown that in a far field, the diffracted field's total TC is also equal to that of the probe field. We demonstrate that by choosing the pump field parameters, one can effectively control the intensity of diffraction orders.

Аннотация: The effect of fractional stimulated Raman adiabatic passage in an optically dense medium of three-level Lambda atoms is shown to result in the maximum coherence on the Raman transition on a length of the medium that considerably exceeds the length of linear resonant absorption. The general case of unequal oscillator strengths of the adjacent transitions is analyzed. The results are of interest for coherent anti-Stokes Raman spectroscopy with delayed pulses.

Аннотация: We propose and analyze an efficient scheme for the one- and two-dimensional atomic gratings based on periodic spatial modulation of the Raman gain and dispersion, which we name the Raman-induced diffraction gratings (RIDGs). There are fundamentally different from those based on electromagnetically induced transparency. As the probe field propagates along the direction normal to the standing pump wave, it can be effectively diffracted into high-order directions. The grating is a hybrid grating, i.e. it represents a mixture of amplitude and phase gratings. We identify the conditions when all high-order diffractions are amplified. In addition, we also show that diffraction of a probe field could be dynamically controlled using an additional laser field. With its help, it is possible to suppress or amplify diffraction beams. The RIDGs can be considered as all-optical multibeam splitters with amplification.
