Аннотация: We consider dielectric cavities whose radiation space is restricted by two parallel metallic planes. The TM solutions of the Maxwell equations of the system are equivalent to the solutions of periodical arrays of dielectric cavities. The system readily allows to achieve bound states in the continuum (BICs) of any type including topological BICs as dependent on position and orientation of the cavities relative to the planes and that extremely facilitates experimental studies in comparison to infinite arrays of the cavities. We show the effect of merging of topologically protected BICs that pushes the square asymptotic of the Q factor into the power degree 4 or even 6.

Аннотация: The 2D triangle-shaped C 3-symmetric topological insulator with the chiral superconducting coupling on the triangular lattice is investigated. While such a system cannot provide the topologically protected corner excitations, we report the presence of the nontopological corner excitations with energy value to lie in the first-order edge spectrum gap. Though these excitations are not topologically protected, they appear for a rather wide range of the parameters values and are robust against the boundary defects and weak disorder. We reveal the presence of the Majorana corner states, which appear along the line in the parameter space.

Аннотация: In order to investigate the possibility of construction of the higher-order topological superconductor on the triangular lattice, the different types of the coupling of chiral topological superconductor edge states are considered. It is demonstrated that the widespread criterion of the topological corner mode's appearance consisting in edge-state effective mass changing at the corner has to be modified in the case of multiple Dirac points in the edge-state spectrum. It is shown that the effective mass must be of the same sign at all Dirac points on one edge adjacent to the corner and be opposite at all the Dirac points on another one. For a two-dimensional system constructed from two chiral topological superconductors on the triangular lattice with inverted bands, two types of interactions leading to the higher-order topological superconducting phase are revealed.

Аннотация: The studies of the topological properties of systems have recently been extended due to a new concept of higher-order topological insulators and superconductors. Many models were proposed for two-dimensional systems on a square lattice, where corner excitations can appear; however, the problem of existence of such excitations in superconducting systems with a triangular crystal lattice is still poorly understood. Using a topological insulator in the form of a triangle with a chiral superconducting order parameter as an example, we shows that corner excitations can exist in C3-symmetric systems. In spite of a nontopological character, these excitations have energies inside the gap of the first-order edge excitation spectrum over a wide parameter range and are well localized at the corners of the system. Gapless corner excitations are shown to exist in the system at certain parameters. The application of a magnetic field in the system plane removes the triple degeneracy of the corner excitation energy and makes it possible to control the position of the minimum-energy corner excitation using a magnetic field. At the same time the fine adjustment to achieve the gapless excitations at the chosen corner can be made with changing of the magnetic field value.

Аннотация: A criterion for revealing edge states in the case when the size of a system is comparable with the localization length of these states has been proposed. The application of the algorithm for determining edge states in short systems has been demonstrated on examples of the Bernevig–Hughes–Zhang (BHZ) model in the cylindrical geometry, the Kitaev model, and a chain with the spin–orbit interaction and induced superconductivity. It has been shown that for finite-length 1D systems, there exist ranges of parameters in which the edge states are not formed, although the topological index is nontrivial; conversely, the emergence of the Majorana modes in regions with a trivial topological index has been demonstrated.

Аннотация: Effect of the spin-orbit coupling on the band structure and the Fermi surface of the three-orbital model is studied. The inter-orbital part of the model is reformulated to fully conform with the iron lattice symmetry. Because there are two iron ions in the unit cell, we introduce the intra-and inter-ion spin-orbit coupling constants to separate the effect of the related couplings on the band structure and the Fermi surface. Both the intra-and inter-ion parts lift the degeneracy of some bands at the Γ = (0, 0) point and the splitting of bands along the (0, π) ‒ (π, π) direction of the Brillouin zone. We show that the inter-ion part of the spin-orbit coupling leads to the topological change of the Fermi surface — the splitting of two Fermi surface sheets around the M = (π, π) point.

The hysteresis loops and the micromagnetic structure of a ferromagnetic nanolayer with a randomly oriented local easy magnetization axis and two-dimensional magnetization correlations are studied using a micromagnetic simulation. The properties and the micromagnetic structure of the nanolayer are determined by the competition between the anisotropy and exchange energies and by the dipole–dipole interaction energy. The magnetic microstructure can be described as an ensemble of stochastic magnetic domains and topological magnetization defects. Dipole–dipole interaction suppresses the formation of topological magnetization defects. The topological defects in the magnetic microstructure can cause a sharper change in the coercive force with the crystallite size than that predicted by the random magnetic anisotropy model. © 2017, Pleiades Publishing, Inc.

Аннотация: The results of recently developed norm-conserving cluster perturbation theory for doping dependent electronic structure of the Hubbard model are reported. We have found that the momentum distribution of the spectral weight strongly depends on the broadening value delta. At delta = 0.1t, we reproduce the angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy data, while at delta = 0.01t we obtain two quantum phase transitions. DOI: 10.1134/S0021364011090116

Аннотация: Several experimental and theoretical studies indicate the existence of a critical point separating the underdoped and overdoped regions of the high-T-c cuprates' phase diagram. There are at least two distinct proposals on the critical concentration and its physical origin. The first one is associated with the pseudogap formation for p p*, with p* approximate to 0.2. The other relies on the Hall effect measurements and suggests that the critical point and the quantum phase transition (QPT) take place at optimal doping, p(opt) approximate to 0.16. Here we have performed a precise density of states calculation and found that there are two QPTs and the corresponding critical concentrations associated with the change of the Fermi surface topology upon doping.

Аннотация: We report on the results of measurements of anisotropic resistivity of RBa(2)Cu(3)O(6 + x) (R = Tm, Lu) high-temperature superconducting single crystals in a wide range of doping levels, indicating a nontrivial effect of magnetic order on the electronic properties of cuprates. In particular, our results visually demonstrate the crossover from the state with moderate anisotropy of resistivity rho (c) /rho (ab) similar to 30 to a strongly anisotropic state with rho (c) /rho (ab) similar to 7 x 10(3) upon cooling as well as upon a decrease in the hole concentration in the CuO(2) planes. It is also shown that anisotropy is sensitive to the magnetic state of CuO(2) planes and attains its maximum value after the establishment of the long-range antiferromagnetic order. The results are discussed in the framework of the theory based on the t-t'-taEuro(3)-J model of CuO(2) layers taking into account strong electron correlations and short-range magnetic order. In this theory, anomalies of spin correlators and Fermi surface topology for a critical hole concentration of p* a parts per thousand 0.24 are demonstrated. The concentration dependence of the charge carrier energy indicates partial suppression of energy due to the emergence of a pseudogap at p p*. This theory explains both the experimentally observed sensitivity of anisotropy in conductivity to the establishment of the antiferromagnetic order and the absence of anomalies in the temperature dependence of resistivity rho (ab) (T) in the vicinity of the N,el temperature.
