Аннотация:
Based on the experimental finding of the exchange bias in amorphous carbon samples with embedded Co nanoparticles and on the graphited character of the amorphous carbon interface confirmed by molecular dynamics simulations we have proposed the interface of graphited carbon to be antiferromagnetic. A theoretical model, which comprises the Kondo interactions in the interfaces of Co nanoparticles and the induced antiferromagnetic interactions in the graphited carbons, is employed to evaluate the ferromagnetism of the interfaces of Co nanoparticles. We have shown that the ferromagnetism of interfaces of Co nanoparticles will be enhanced by the increase of antiferromagnetic interaction as well as the increase of electron density in the graphited carbons. In particular, we found that the antiferromagnetic interactions in graphited carbons will change the spin-wave excitation in interfaces of Co nanoparticles from the quasiacoustic mode to the quasioptical one. © 2017 Elsevier B.V.

The effect of annealing on the magnetic properties of (Co40Fe40B20)x(SiO2)1–x granular composites fabricated via ion-beam sputtering is investigated. Three-wave mixing of ordinary and backward electromagnetic
waves
in the pulsed regime is investigated. It is shown that opposite direction of phase velocity and energy flux in the backward wave gives rise to extraordinary transient processes in the greatly enhanced optical parametric amplification and frequency-shifting nonlinear reflectivity. The discovered transients resemble time-delayed response of an oscillator on the pulsed excitation in the vicinity of its resonance. © 2016 IEEE.

We present propagating Bloch bound states in the radiation continuum with orbital angular momentum in an infinite linear periodical array of dielectric spheres. The bound states in the continuum demonstrate a giant Poynting vector spiraling around the array. They can be excited by a plane wave with incident linear polarization with a small tilt relative to the axis of the array.

We show that a deliberately engineered dispersive metamaterial slab can enable the coexistence and phase matching of ordinary fundamental and contra-propagating backward second harmonic electromagnetic
waves
. Energy flux and phase velocity are contra-directed in the backward
waves
, which is the extraordinary phenomenon that gives rise to unique nonlinear optical propagation processes. We demonstrate that frequencies, phase, and group velocities, as well as the losses inherent to the guided electromagnetic modes supported by such metamaterial, can be tailored to maximize the conversion of frequencies and to reverse the propagation direction of the generated second harmonic wave. Such a possibility, which is of paramount importance for nonlinear photonics, is proven using a numerical model describing the hyperbolic metamaterial made of carbon nanotubes standing on the metal surface. Extraordinary properties of the backward-wave second harmonic generation in the reflection direction and of the corresponding frequency doubling metareflector in the THz are investigated with a focus on the pulsed regime. © 2017 American Chemical Society.

Dynamic susceptibilities (Green's functions) of the interacting electromagnetic
waves
G”e(ω) and optical phonons G”u(ω) in a medium with zero-mean inhomogeneous coupling parameter have been considered. The calculation was performed using a self-consistent approximation for the two stochastically interacting wave fields. It is shown that on the tops of the resonance maxima of the imaginary parts of the Green functions the fine structure is formed: a minimum (dip) on the top of G”e(ω) and narrow maximum (peak) on the top of G”u(ω). With increasing the correlation wavenumber of inhomogeneities kc (i.e., with decreasing the size of inhomogeneities), the width of the peak on G”u(ω) decreases, and two resonance maxima in the function G”e(ω) are formed. Because of the large difference in the speeds of light and optical phonons, the fine structure of the polaritons is manifested itself more clearly and saved to a much larger values of kc, than for the studied earlier crossing resonance of spin and elastic

Аннотация:
We study wave transmission through a Fabry-Perot resonator (FPR) loaded with point-like impurities. We show both analytically in the framework of the coupled mode theory and numerically that there are two different regimes for transmission dependent on the quality of the FPR mirrors. For low quality, we obtain transmittance very similar to the clean FPR with slightly shifted Lorentz peaks. However, for good quality, the transmittance peaks are strongly reduced and substituted with Gaussian peaks because of multiple scattering of
waves
by each impurity. As a side effect, we observe the angular (channel) conversion in the disordered FPR. We demonstrate that the resonant peaks are dependent on the concentration of impurities to pave a way for resonant measurement of the concentration. (C) 2016 Optical Society of America

For scattering of electromagnetic
waves
by a dielectric cylinder with periodically modulated permittivity we focus on the vicinity of the frequency of the wave with regard to the eigenfrequencies of bound states in the continuum. Then response of the cylinder becomes extremely sensitive to the angle of incidence and polarization of the plane wave. The cross section of the scattering of electromagnetic
waves
with mixed polarization undergoes crucial change from the Bragg shape to the Fano shape by rotation of the polarization that paves a way to tuning of Fano resonances by an external source.

Аннотация:
Three-wave mixing of ordinary electromagnetic
waves
and the
waves
with contra-directed phase and group velocities in the pulsed regimes is shown to be accompanied by unusual transient processes. We have investigated how attenuation and phase mismatch of the coupled
waves
in the metamaterials change the properties of parametric amplification and the threshold intensity of the pump wave which is of critical importance.
