Аннотация: On the basis of the earlier developed statistical theory of the growth of the effective size of correlated clusters (the number of correlated spins), an expression for the shape of the multiple-quantum (MQ) NMR spectrum is obtained that takes into account the loss of coherence in a spin system due, for example, to the controlled intervention of the experimenter. It is shown that the scrambling and decoherence processes in the MQ spectrum of the multiparticle system of a solid are not separated, unlike the corresponding spectra of some large isolated molecules [27] in a solution. The relations obtained allow one to extract the necessary information about the above processes (scrambling and decoherence) from the dependence of the MQ spectra on experimental parameters.

Analytical results for the time evolution of mutual information, classical part of correlations, and quantum part characterized by quantum discord have been obtained within the central spin model in the high-temperature approximation. The same formulas describe the quantum discord in both the FID and the spin echo although the forms of the dependences are different because of difference in the parameters entering into the formulas. Discord of the spin echo compared with the FID has a strong dependence on time at short times, and it tends to zero with decreasing of the magnetic field, whereas in the case of the FID it reaches a plateau.

Аннотация: We study the dynamical correlations between two coupled spins depending on time and the value of the spin quantum numbers. In the high-temperature approximation, we obtain analytic expressions for the mutual information and the quantum and classical parts of correlations. We consider both orthogonal and nonorthogonal measurements in the basis of spin coherent states. We show that at small times, the quantum part of correlations becomes much less than the classical part as the spin quantum numbers increase, while the situation is quite different at times equal to half the quantum period.

Аннотация: We study dynamical correlations of two coupled large spins depending on the time and on the spin quantum numbers. In the high-temperature approximation, we obtain analytical expressions for the mutual informations, quantum and classical parts of correlations. The latter was obtained performing the non-orthogonal projective (POVM) measurements onto the spin coherent states of two spins or one spin, as well as by means of the orthogonal projective measurement of von Neumann. Contribution from quantum correlations is much less than that from classical ones and decreasing with the increase in spin quantum numbers at short times. However, it is not so in a time equal to half of the quantum period. © 2012 SPIE.

Аннотация: Multiple-quantum (MQ) solid-state NMR spectroscopy allows the growth of multiple-spin correlations and, thus, the spreading of quantum information in the object under study to be observed. Recently, in [11] it was proposed to control this process through a controlled perturbation added to the effective Hamiltonian that causes degradation of correlated spin clusters with a rate determined by the number of spins K in a cluster. However, this perturbation can also lead to degradation whose rate is determined by the coherence order M. In this paper, to investigate the influence of a small added perturbation, we used an expansion into orthogonal operators that allowed the cluster size distribution to be taken into account. In our calculations we realized a simple model with known amplitudes of the expansion into a complete set of orthogonal operators in the absence of a perturbation. We performed numerical calculations of the “preparation time” dependences of the MQ spectra, their second moments, and the coherence orders at which the MQ spectra decrease by a factor of e as well as the average correlated spin cluster sizes K¯. The coherence-order-dependent contribution to the degradation is shown to change the shape of the MQ spectrum. In particular, as the preparation time increases, the MQ spectrum can be stabilized, while the growth of K¯ is retained. Due to the change in the shape of the MQ spectrum, the relations of its characteristics to the number K¯ change compared to those for the Gaussian function (traditionally used to process the experiments). These changes should be taken into account when studying the spreading of quantum information through MQ spectroscopy.

Аннотация: Clustering is grouping of data by the proximity of some properties. We report on the possibility of increasing the efficiency of clustering of points in a plane using artificial quantum neural networks after the replacement of the two-level neurons called qubits represented by the spins S = 1/2 by the three-level neurons called qutrits represented by the spins S = 1. The problem has been solved by the slow adiabatic change of the Hamiltonian in time. The methods for controlling a qutrit system using projection operators have been developed and the numerical simulation has been performed. The Hamiltonians for two well-known clustering methods, one-hot encoding and k-means, have been built. The first method has been used to partition a set of six points into three or two clusters and the second method, to partition a set of nine points into three clusters and seven points into four clusters. The simulation has shown that the clustering problem can be effectively solved on qutrits represented by the spins S = 1. The advantages of clustering on qutrits over that on qubits have been demonstrated. In particular, the number of qutrits required to represent N data points is smaller than the number of qubits by a factor of log 2N/ log 3N. For qutrits, the simplest is to partition the data points into three clusters rather than two ones. At the data partition into more than three clusters, it has been proposed to number the clusters by the numbers of states of the corresponding multi-spin subsystems, instead of using the numbers of individual spins. This reduces even more the number of qutrits (Nlog 3K instead of NK) required to implement the algorithm.

Аннотация: When associative memory is implemented on the well-studied Hopfield network, patterns are recorded in the interaction constants between binary neurons. These constants are chosen so that each pattern should have its own minimum energy of the system described by the Ising model. In the quantum version of the Hopfield network, it was proposed to recall such states by the adiabatic change of the Hamiltonian in time. Qubits, quantum elements with two states, for example, spins with S=1/2 were considered as neurons. In this paper, for the first time, we study the function of associative memory using three-level quantum elements-qutrits, represented by spins with S=1. We record patterns with the help of projection operators. This choice is due to the need to operate with a state with a zero spin projection, whose interaction with the magnetic field vanishes. We recall the state corresponding to one of the patterns recorded in the memory, or superposition of such states by means of quantum annealing. To equalize the probabilities of finding the system in different states of superposition, an auxiliary Hamiltonian is proposed, which is turned off at the end of evolution. Simulations were performed on two and three qutrits and an increase in the memory capacity after replacing qubits with qutrits was shown.

Аннотация: Studying the properties of ferromagnetic films helps in solving the fundamental problems of the physics of magnetic phenomena and in developing the theory of ferromagnetism. Modern software and hardware, along with reliable diagnostic methods are used to research and design thin-film devices. In this regard, the development of devices and methods for measuring the magnetic characteristics of thin ferromagnetic films is an essential task. The aim of the work is to develop an unit for local measurements of the magnetic characteristics of thin ferromagnetic films, which has the ability to change the degree of locality of measurements over a wide range and has high sensitivity at the same time. The article reviews a new unit for measuring the magnetic characteristics of thin ferromagnetic films. The unit allows measuring the value and direction of the anisotropy field on a local area of the film. A block diagram and description of a new unit, as well as methods of measurements are shown in the article. The experimentally obtained distribution of the anisotropy field over the area of the studied sample of Ni 80 Fe 20 film is shown in this work. The experimental results confirm the compliance of the new unit with the declared characteristics. The unit can be used for non-destructive quality control and for measuring uniformity of thin ferromagnetic films magnetic characteristics.

Аннотация: The ground and excited states of the pheromone molecules produced by xylophagous insects (the bark beetle Ips typographus L., the black fir sawyer beetle Monochamus urussovi Fisch., and the black pine sawyer M. galloprovincialis Oliv.) were modeled using a quantum chemical method utilizing DFT (density functional theory) with the B3LYP functional. The absorption wavelengths (energies) and dipole moments were calculated; the transitions of electrons from occupied to empty molecular orbitals were considered. The computed data were used to assess the stability of pheromone molecules exposed to environmental factors, such as solar radiation and humidity.

Аннотация: The two vinylidene complexes Cp(CO)2 RePt(μ-C=CHPh)(PPh3 )(CO) and Cp(CO)2 RePt(μ-C=CHPh)(PPh3 )2 and their precursors PPh3 and P(PPh3 )4 were studied by solid-state nuclear magnetic resonance. We analysed 31P cross-polarization spectra acquired in static conditions and with magic angle spinning. The chemical shift tensors of each sample were determined by fitting their spectra using SIMPSON simulations.

Аннотация: In the past, a maximum-entropy model was introduced and applied to the study of statistical scattering by chaotic cavities, when short paths may play an important role in the scattering process. In particular, the validity of the model was investigated in relation with the statistical properties of the conductance in open chaotic cavities. In this paper we investigate further the validity of the maximum-entropy model, by comparing the theoretical predictions with the results of computer simulations, in which the Schrodinger equation is solved numerically inside the cavity for one and two open channels in the leads; we analyze, in addition to the conductance, the zero-frequency limit of the shot-noise power spectrum. We also obtain theoretical results for the ensemble average of this last quantity, for the orthogonal and unitary cases of the circular ensemble and an arbitrary number of channels. Generally speaking, the agreement between theory and numerics is good. In some of the cavities that we study, short paths consist of whispering gallery modes, which were excluded in previous studies. These cavities turn out to be all the more interesting, as it is in relation with them that we found certain systematic discrepancies in the comparison with theory. We give evidence that it is the lack of stationarity inside the energy interval that is analyzed, and hence the lack of ergodicity-a property assumed in the maximum-entropy model-that gives rise to the discrepancies. Indeed, the agreement between theory and numerical simulations is improved when the energy interval is reduced to a point and the statistics is then collected over an ensemble obtained by varying the position of an obstacle inside the cavity. It thus appears that the maximum-entropy model is valid beyond the domain where it was originally derived. An understanding of this situation is still lacking at the present moment.
