Аннотация:
The field dependence of the magnetization along the hard axes in a four-sublattice ferromagnet PbMnBO4 is calculated by the numerical minimization of the ground state energy in the approximation of classical magnetic moments. The parameters of anisotropic interactions—the second-order single-ion anisotropy constants, the magnitude and direction of the antisymmetric exchange vector, and the symmetric anisotropic exchange tensor—are obtained by a comparison with experimental magnetization curves. The direction of the Dzyaloshinskii–Moriya interaction vector is close to the orthorhombic c axis. The symmetric exchange tensor has an almost uniaxial form with the easy axis perpendicular to the antisymmetric exchange vector. Changes in the energy of each anisotropic interaction during magnetization reorientation are calculated.

Аннотация:
Anisotropy mechanisms in compounds with S-state ions are discussed, including the 'single-ion' exchange mechanism that was developed theoretically by Nikiforov and coworkers based on the two-ion model and which has only recently received detailed experimental study. Results demonstrating the significant role of the 'single-ion' source are presented. An independent generalized method for quantitatively describing and predicting the anisotropy of magnetically ordered crystals is discussed, and its potential for the investigation of the BiFeO3 multiferroic in the region of the existence of a spin cycloid is examined. The anisotropic

responsible for the formation of nanostructures in the form of spin vortices (skyrmions) in MnSi and Cu2OSeO3 are analyzed.

Аннотация:
The Lorentz tensor components L (j) for poly(vinylidene fluoride-trifluoroethylene, 70/30) Langmuir-Blodgett films in the ferroelectric phase are determined experimentally. The results indicate that intralayer dipole-dipole interaction between the segments of the polymer is stronger than interlayer interaction. This conclusion agrees with the absence of the critical film thickness below which ferroelectricity would cease to exist.

Аннотация:
The magnetoresonance and dielectric properties of a number of crystals of a new family of multiferroics, namely, rare-earth ferroborates RFe(3)(BO(3))(4) (R = Y, Eu, Pr, Tb, Tb(0.25)Er(0.75)), are studied in the submillimeter frequency range (nu = 3-20 cm(-1)). Ferroborates with R = Y, Tb, and Eu exhibit permittivity jumps at temperatures of 375, 198, and 58 K, respectively, which are caused by the R32 -> P3(1)2(1) phase transition. Antiferromagnetic resonance (AFMR) modes in the subsystem of Fe(3+) ions are detected in the range of antiferromagnetic ordering (T < T(N) = 30-40 K) in all ferroborates that have either an easy-plane (Y, Eu) or easy-axis (Pr, Tb, Tb(0.25)Er(0.75)) magnetic structure. The AFMR frequencies are found to depend strongly on the magnetic anisotropy of a rare-earth ion and its exchange interaction with the Fe subsystem, which determine the type of magnetic structure and the sign and magnitude of an effective anisotropy constant. The basic parameters of the magnetic interactions in these ferroborates are found, and the magnetoelectric contribution to AFMR is analyzed.

Аннотация:
We report on a new effect caused by the electron-phonon coupling in a stoichiometric rare-earth antiferromagnetic crystal subjected to an external magnetic field, namely, the appearance of a nonzero gap in the spectrum of electronic excitations in an arbitrarily small field. The effect was registered in the low-temperature far-infrared (terahertz) reflection spectra of an easy-axis antiferromagnet PrFe3(BO3)4 in magnetic fields Bext-c. Both paramagnetic and magnetically ordered phases (including a spin-flop one) were studied in magnetic fields up to 30 T, and two bifurcation points were observed. We show that the field behavior of the coupled modes can be successfully explained and modeled on the basis of the equation derived in the framework of the theory of coupled electron-phonon modes, with the same field-independent electron-phonon interaction constant |W|=14.8 cm-1. © 2017 American Physical Society.

Аннотация:
The synthesis of nanoparticles inside microorganisms is an economical alternative to chemical and physical methods of nanoparticle synthesis. In this study, ferrihydrite nanoparticles synthesized by Klebsiella oxytoca bacterium in special conditions were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy-dispersive X-ray analysis (EDS), small-angle X-ray (SAXS), UV-Vis spectroscopy, fluorescence, fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET), and molecular docking. The morphology and the structure of the particles were characterized by means of SEM and SAXS. The elemental content was determined by means of the EDS method. The absorption properties of the ferrihydrite nanoparticles were investigated by UV-Vis spectroscopy. The binding mechanism of the biogenic ferrihydrite nanoparticles to Bovine Serum Albumin (BSA) protein, studied by fluorescence, showed a static and weak process, combined with FRET. Protein denaturation by temperature and urea in the presence of the ferrihydrite nanoparticles demonstrated their influence on the unfolding process. The AutoDock Vina and UCSF Chimera programs were used to predict the optimal binding site of the ferrihydrite to BSA and to find the location of the hydrophobic cavities in the sub-domain IIA of the BSA structure.

Аннотация:
We report on the emergence of new lines in the optical spectrum of the PrFe3(BO3)(4) single crystal at the magnetic ordering temperature. The transitions between singlet crystal-field sublevels of Pr3+ ion with the same transformational properties, strictly forbidden for the trigonal D-3 point symmetry of this ion in PrFe3(BO3)(4), appear below the Neel temperature and grow in intensity as a square of the order parameter. We show that the phenomenon originates from the mixing of wave functions of different Pr3+ sublevels by the Pr-Fe exchange interaction.

The structures of the LiI and NaI salts of 2-thiobarbituric acid (2-sulfanylidene-1-3-diazinane-4,6-dione, H 2TBA) have been studied. μ-Aqua-octaaquabis(μ-2- thiobarbiturato-κ2 O:O′)bis(2-thiobarbiturato-κO) tetralithium(I) dihydrate, [Li4(C4H3N 2O2S)4(H2O)9]·2H 2O, (I), crystallizes with four symmetry-independent four-coordinated LiI cations and four independent HTBA- anions. The structure contains two structurally non-equivalent LiI cations and two non-equivalent HTBA- anions (bridging and terminal). Eight of the coordinated water ligands are terminal and the ninth acts as a bridge between LiI cations. Discrete [Li4(HTBA)4(H2O)9] ·2H2O complexes form two-dimensional layers. Neighbouring layers are connected via hydrogen-bonding
interactions
, resulting in a three-dimensional network. Poly[μ2-aqua-tetraaqua(μ4-2- thiobarbiturato-κ4 O:O:S:S)(μ2-thiobarbiturato- κ2 O:S)disodium(I)], [Na2(C4H 3N2O2S)2(H2O) 5] n , (II), crystallizes with six-coordinated NaI cations. The octahedra are pairwise connected through edge-sharing by a water O atom and an O atom from the μ4-HTBA- ligand, and these pairs are further top-shared by the S atoms to form continuous chains along the a direction. Two independent HTBA- ligands integrate the chains to give a three-dimensional network. © 2013 International Union of Crystallography.

We performed inelastic neutron scattering measurements on CuB2O4 with a magnetic field applied in the tetragonal basal plane. The spin dynamics in this cuprate is determined by the interplay of two magnetic Cu2+ subsystems, the magnetic cage with predominant 3d Heisenberg exchange and quasi Id zig-zag chains. The comparison of the dispersion spectra along the chain direction in zero field and under applied field suggests a decoupling of the two magnetic sublattices under field. (c) 2006 Elsevier B.V. Аннотация:
The singularities of the time autocorrelation functions (ACFs) of magnetically diluted spin systems with dipole–dipole interaction (DDI), which determine the high-frequency asymptotics of autocorrelation functions and the wings of a magnetic resonance line, are studied. Using the self-consistent fluctuating local field approximation, nonlinear equations are derived for autocorrelation functions averaged over the independent random arrangement of spins (magnetic atoms) in a diamagnetic lattice with different spin concentrations. The equations take into account the specificity of the dipole–dipole interaction. First, due to its axial symmetry in a strong static magnetic field, the autocorrelation functions of longitudinal and transverse spin components are described by different equations. Second, the long-range type of the dipole–dipole interaction is taken into account by separating contributions into the local field from distant and near spins. The recurrent equations are obtained for the expansion coefficients of autocorrelation functions in power series in time. From them, the numerical value of the coordinate of the nearest singularity of the autocorrelation function is found on the imaginary time axis, which is equal to the radius of convergence of these expansions. It is shown that in the strong dilution case, the logarithmic concentration dependence of the coordinate of the singularity is observed, which is caused by the presence of a cluster of near spins whose fraction is small but contribution to the modulation frequency is large. As an example a silicon crystal with different 29Si concentrations in magnetic fields directed along three crystallographic axes is considered. © 2017, Pleiades Publishing, Inc.

interactions
. It is shown that the processes of scattering by spin fluctuations qualitatively change the character of the concentration dependences Tc(n). These scattering processes in the normal phase significantly modify the distribution function of Hubbard fermions, determining the pronounced non-Fermi-liquid behavior of the system. © Allerton Press, Inc. 2007.

Аннотация:
A quadruple quantum-dot (QQD) cell is proposed as a spin filter. The transport properties of the QQD cell were studied in linear response regime on the basis of the equations of motion for retarded Green's functions. The developed approach allowed us to take into account the influence of both intra-and interdot Coulomb
interactions
on charge carriers' spin polarization. It was shown that the presence of the insulating bands in the conductance due to the Coulomb correlations results in the emergence of spin-polarized windows (SPWs) in magnetic field leading to the high spin polarization. We demonstrated that the SPWs can be effectively manipulated by gate fields and considering the hopping between central dots in both isotropic and anisotropic regimes.

Аннотация:
The effect of the Coulomb repulsion of holes on the Cooper instability in an ensemble of spin–polaron quasiparticles has been analyzed, taking into account the peculiarities of the crystallographic structure of the CuO2 plane, which are associated with the presence of two oxygen ions and one copper ion in the unit cell, as well as the strong spin–fermion coupling. The investigation of the possibility of implementation of superconducting phases with d-wave and s-wave of the order parameter symmetry has shown that in the entire doping region only the d-wave pairing satisfies the self-consistency equations, while there is no solution for the s-wave pairing. This result completely corresponds to the experimental data on cuprate HTSC. It has been demonstrated analytically that the intersite Coulomb interaction does not affect the superconducting d-wave pairing, because its Fourier transform Vq does not appear in the kernel of the corresponding integral equation.

Аннотация:
The optical spectra of oriented SmFe3(BO3)4 single crystals are studied in the region of the f-f transitions in the Sm3+ ion by Fourier spectroscopy. The energies, the symmetry properties, and the exchange splittings of the Stark sublevels of the ground and 17 excited multiplets of the Sm3+ ion in a crystal field of symmetry D 3 are determined from the measured temperature dependences of polarized-radiation absorption spectra. The parameters of the crystal field acting on samarium ions and the parameters of the exchange interaction between Sm3+ and Fe3+ ions are found. The anisotropy of the effective exchange interaction is shown to be substantially stronger than the magnetic anisotropy, due to a strong crystal-field-induced mixing of the ground and excited multiplets.

Аннотация:
Single crystals of ludwigite Cu2MnBO5 were synthesized by flux growth technique. The detailed structural and magnetic characterizations of the synthesized samples have been carried out. The cations composition of the studied crystal was determined using X-ray diffraction and EXAFS technique, the resulting composition differ from the content of the initial Mn2O3–CuO components of the flux. Magnetic susceptibility measurements and the calculations of the exchange integrals in frameworks of indirect coupling model revealed that monoclinic distortions strongly affect exchange
interactions
and appearance of magnetic ordering phase at the temperature T=93 K. The hypothesis of the existence of several magnetic subsystems was supposed. © 2016 Elsevier B.V.

INTAS (The International Association for the Promotion of Cooperation with Scientists from the New Independent States of the Former Soviet Union) — международная ассоциация по содействию сотрудничеству с учёными новых независимых государств бывшего Советского Союза. Некоммерческая организация, финансировалась главным образом из бюджета Европейского Союза. Являлась крупнейшим фондом, поддерживающим научное сотрудничество между учёными стран бывшего СССР и Европейского Союза с 1993 г. Программы INTAS охватывали широкий круг научно-исследовательских проблем. 22 сентября 2006 года было принято решение о прекращении осуществления программы на основании рекомендации Европейской Комиссии. С 1 апреля 2007 года прекратилось распределение новых грантов.
