Аннотация:
The results of electronic structure calculations of the CuO2 layer, performed by the generalized tight-binding method, are presented. The strong electron correlations on both the Cu and O ions are included explicitly. The resulting quasiparticle band structure contains an insulator gap for undoped compounds like La2CuO4. The valence band consists of a large number of narrow Hubbard quasiparticle bands. The dispersion law of quasiparticles at the top of the valence band has a minimum at the GAMMA-point, indicating the existence of the multivalley Fermi surface in the doped La2-xSrxCuO4. The origin of the Fermi liquid behavior in the narrow quasiparticle bands is discussed.

Аннотация:
The spectrum of the two-particle spin-singlet (DeltaS(z) = 0, +/-1) excitations of a weakly coupled antiferromagnetic spin-1/2 alternating (J(1) +/- delta) chain is calculated using a mean-field approximation for the interchain exchange (J(2)) by the quantum Monte Carlo method. The bandwidth change of these excitations, the mass gaps in the singlet-singlet excitation spectrum, the top boundaries of the bands and the velocities of these excitations are estimated as functions of the alternating bond delta. The temperatures at which the singlet gaps close are determined.

Аннотация:
Faraday rotation (FR) spectral, field, and temperature dependencies in oxide glasses with small additions of paramagnetic elements are investigated. Formation of ferrite nanoparticles in amorphous glass matrices is revealed by X-ray diffraction.
Particles
have crystal structure similar to spinel structure, their dimensions are about 10-24 nm. The FR field dependencies are typical for ferrimagnetic or superparamagnetic substances depending on particle size. Strong FR increase at the samples cooling (more than twice for some samples) in the temperature interval 105-273 K is observed. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.

Explicit expressions are derived for the rectified radiative forces (RRFs) related to the action of a weak interfering optical field of an arbitrary three-dimensional (3D) configuration upon resonance
particles
featuring the J = 0 -- J = 1 quantum transition. It is shown that, in contrast to the case of a monochromatic field, there are simple 3D biharmonic field configurations for which the ratio of the vortex and potential RRF components can be controlled by adjusting frequencies and polarizations of the interfering light waves. This modification of the RRF structure gives rise to qualitatively different types of both vortex and potential light-induced particle motions that may lead to a 3D spatial localization (confinement) of these
particles
within the cells of an effective optical lattice with a period significantly greater than the light wavelength. In particular, the
particles

Аннотация:
Homogeneous thermal fluctuations of the orientational order parameters S and G of biaxial molecules in a uniaxial nematic liquid crystal are investigated in the framework of the molecular-statistical theory. It is demonstrated that the molecular biaxiality significantly affects the order parameters S and G, their temperature dependences in the nematic phase, the amplitude and the temperature dependence of the order parameter fluctuations in the nematic and isotropic phases, and the character of the transition from the nematic phase to the isotropic liquid phase. It is established that the fluctuations of the parameters S and G in the nematic phase are related to the temperature dependences of S and G and the susceptibilities chi(S) and chi(G) of the nematic liquid crystal to external fields, which leads to a change in the parameters S and G at a fixed director orientation. Explanations are offered for the known experimental data on the orientational ordering of biaxial molecules under the action of external fields in the isotropic phase of nematic liquid crystals. Аннотация:
The spectral density, dispersion relations, and the position of the Fermi level for n-doped compositions based on NCO and LCO were calculated within the framework of the generalized tight binding method. As distinguished from LCO, the dielectric gap in NCO is nonlinear in character. We observe a virtual level both at the bottom of the conduction band and at the top of the valence band in both compounds. However, its position corresponds to the extreme bottom of the conduction band in LCO and is 0.1 - 0.2 eV above the bottom in NCO. This explains why we observe Fermi level pinning in n-LCO as the concentration of the doping component grows and reproduce its absence in NCCO at low doping values. We also found both compositions to be unstable in a narrow concentration range with respect to a nonuniform charge density distribution. The relation between the phase diagram for NCCO and the calculated electronic structure is discussed. (C) 2004 MAIK "Nauka/Interperiodica".

Аннотация:
The electronic structure of electron-doped cuprates is discussed in the regions of small and optimal doping. For optimal doping we obtain the parameters from a simple tight-binding analysis by fitting ARPES data, and for small doping we study the band structure by the generalized tight-binding method that takes strong electronic correlations into account explicitly. This method has also reproduced well the ARPES data for small doping. The effective low-energy Hamiltonian is the t-t'-J model with hopping parameters t and t'. We compare both methods and find very good agreement for the value of t while t' is different because it is caused by the different contribution of the short-range spin correlations. Аннотация:
An effective low-energy Hamiltonian is derived from a microscopic multiband p-d model in the regime of strong electron correlations. The parameters of the p-d model are determined by comparison with the ARPES data for undoped Nd2CuO4. The Hamiltonian is the t-J* model in which hopping and exchange slowly decay with distance and are taken into account up to the fifth coordination sphere. The quasiparticle band structure is calculated as a function of the doping concentration with regard to short-range magnetic order, and the superconductivity theory with the spin-fluctuation pairing mechanism is constructed. Assuming that the parameters of the model do not depend on the doping level, we obtained quantitative agreement with the properties observed experimentally for the normal and superconducting phases without introducing fitting parameters. Аннотация:
For the first time the problem of determining real composition and structure of manganese ferrite nanoparticles dispersed borate glasses is solved using differentiating dissolution and high-resolution X-ray electron microscopy techniques. For the first time the nanosize effect of aluminum incorporation in manganese ferrite composition is experimentally shown, thus directly confirming the hypothesis of Al participation in exchange interaction between paramagnetic Fe and Mn ions as diamagnetic diluter.

A new magnetic material, C-60 fullerite powder doped by magnetite (Fe3O4) nanoparticles, is obtained by heating a mixture of fullerite and iron(III) acetylacetonate. We analyze the Bogoliubov spectrum of the Bose-Hubbard model with a finite number of sites and Bose
particles
by using a semiclassical approach. This approach allows us to take into account the finite-size effects responsible for evolution of the Bogoliubov spectrum into an irregular (chaotic) spectrum at higher energies. A manifestation of this transition for the excitation dynamics of the Bose-Hubbard system is discussed as well.

Впервые методом броуновской динамики исследуется образование двойного электрического слоя наночастиц гидрозолей металлов при адсорбции ионов электролита из окружающей среды с целью сопоставления с классическими теориями Штерна, Гуи-Чэпмена, Гельмгольца. При этом исследуется влияние на структуру слоя кулоновских сил, включая и силы изображения, ван-дер-ваальсовых, диссипативных и случайных сил, а также степени гидратации адсорбируемых ионов. Полученные результаты позволяют уточнить форму потенциала межчастичного взаимодействия в данном типе золей - одного из фундаментальных параметров, определяющих процесс структурообразования в дисперсных системах с электростатическим механизмом стабилизации.
For the first time the method of Brown dynamics investigates formation of a double electric layer nanoparticles hidrozole metals at adsorption of ions of electrolit from an environment with the purpose of comparison to Stern's, Gui-Chepmen's and Gelmgolt's theories. Thus influence on structure of a layer Kulon's forsec, including and forces of the image, Van der Vals's, and casual forces, and also a degree of hydration of adsorbed ions is investigated. The received results allow to specify the form of potential of interpartial interaction in the given type ofzole - one of the fundamental parameters defining process of structurization in disperse systems with the electrostatic mechanism of stabilization.
