Аннотация: Впервые методами ядерного магнитного резонанса (ЯМР) выполнено исследование порошков оксибората кобальта Co3BO5 в широкой области температур (85 – 295 K) во внешнем магнитном поле H0 = 9.27 Тл. Определены параметры тензора градиента электрического поля (ГЭП) и магнитного сдвига линии ЯМР на позициях ядра-зонда 11B. Выделены орбитальный 11K0 и спиновый 11Ks вклады в сдвиг. Из температурных зависимостей сдвига и магнитной восприимчивости в Co3BO5 была определена константа сверхтонкого взаимодействия (СТВ) иона B3+ с ближайшим магнитным окружением.

Аннотация: The monolithic design of a compact bandpass filter X-band is made on the technology of multilayered printed circuit boards. Quarter-wave stripline resonators of the filter have two conductors divided by a layer of prepreg having low parameters that bond together the design. This eliminates the influence of the prepreg on the characteristics of the devices, ensuring good repeatability of filters in mass production. To increase the high-frequency stopband of the filter, one of the conductors of each resonator is cut in half by a transverse slit. The constructive sizes of the device were obtained by parametric synthesis using the electrodynamic analysis of its 3D model. The experimental data of the five-order filter are in good agreement with the electromagnetic simulation of filter of the 3D model. The experimental device has a central frequency of the passband of 10 GHz and a fractional bandwidth of 5.7%, and its dimensions and weight are 18.0 × 5.4 × 2.1 mm3 and 0.5 g. The important advantage of the developed design is the possibility of its installation on the board using the surface mounting method.

Аннотация: In the present work, elementary logic operators (including selective rotation, Fourier transform, controlled phase shift, and controlled NOT operators) for a quantum computer on tristable systems (qutrits) are examined. Computer modeling of realization of these operators based on a system of two nuclear spins I = 1 is carried out by the methods of nuclear magnetic resonance. Two different methods of realizing the controlled NOT operator are presented: with the help of weak pulses of radio-frequency magnetic field selective in spin-spin interaction and with the help of strong pulses selective in quadrupole interaction. A dependence of realization errors on the interaction parameters, variable field amplitude, and pulse duration is calculated. Advantages and disadvantages of each method in the process of realization are indicated

Аннотация: Metal nanoparticle (NP) complexes lying on a single-layer graphene surface are studied with a developed original hybrid quantum–classical theory using the Finite Element Method (FEM) that is computationally cheap. Our theory is based on the motivated assumption that the carrier charge density in the doped graphene does not vary significantly during the plasmon oscillations. Charge transfer plasmon (CTP) frequencies, eigenvectors, quality factors, energy loss in the NPs and in graphene, and the absorption power are aspects that are theoretically studied and numerically calculated. It is shown the CTP frequencies reside in the terahertz range and can be represented as a product of two factors: the Fermi level of graphene and the geometry of the NP complex. The energy losses in the NPs are predicted to be inversely dependent on the radius R of the nanoparticle, while the loss in graphene is proportional to R and the interparticle distance. The CTP quality factors are predicted to be in the range ~ 10 – 100. The absorption power under CTP excitation is proportional to the scalar product of the CTP dipole moment and the external electromagnetic field. The developed theory makes it possible to simulate different properties of CTPs 3–4 orders of magnitude faster compared to the original FEM or the finite-difference time domain method, providing possibilities for predicting the plasmonic properties of very large systems for different applications.

Аннотация: A method for calibrating a microstrip microwave resonator used to measure the complex permittivity of moist soils and grounds is proposed. This method is based on the use of mixtures of a disperse solid substance and aqueous solutions of salts with known values of their complex permittivity. The resonator is composed of two segments of strip lines, the capacitive electromagnetic coupling between which occurs through a container with a moist soil sample. Sandy soil samples wetted by a sodium chloride solution were used as reference samples. The values of their complex permittivity were determined using the generalized refraction model and the reference data for the complex permittivity of a salt solution. A system of algebraic equations was set up, the solution to which, together with the formulas of the refraction model, allowed the complex permittivity of the test soil sample to be reconstructed from the measured values of the resonance frequency shifts and Q factor. The rms errors in measuring the real and imaginary parts of the complex permittivity, which varied over the ranges 4.79-11.03 and 0.39-3.15, were 0.21 and 0.03, respectively. © Pleiades Publishing, Inc. 2006.

Аннотация: Quantum-chemical calculations of neutral and charged ironporphyrin (FeP, FeP+1 and FeP-) systems were performed using B3LYP and MP2 methods. It was shown that all ground states of FeP (S = 1), FeP +1 (S = 3/2) and FeP- (S = 1/2) systems have C 2v symmetry. During the first step of electron transfer process an electron goes to β-LUMO - 1 Fe dyz-orbital of FeP+1. The second electron goes to β-LUMO of FeP which is attributed to π-system of porphyrin ring. The 3s- and 3p-orbitals do not play a significant role in the electron transfer process. The ability of FeP -1 system to form π-dative chemical bond is low. The formation of π-π-complexes is preferable. © 2005 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved

Аннотация: We’ve studied the B800 part of Rhodoblastus acidophilus light-harvesting complex (LH2) by several quantum chemical techniques based on the density functional theory (DFT) and determined the specific method and a minimal reliable model suitable for further studies of the LH2. In addition to bacteriochlorophyll a molecules, the minimal model includes two α and one β chain amino acids. Within the model, we are able to reproduce the contribution of the B800 ring of nine bacteriochlorophyll a molecules to the near infrared Qy absorption band. We also discuss the use of hybrid DFT calculations for precise energy and optical estimations and DFT-based tight binding (DFTB) method for the large-scale calculations. Crucial importance of Hartree-Fock exchange interaction for the correct description of B800 peak position was shown.

Аннотация: The quest for artificial light sources mimicking sunlight has been a long-standing endeavor, particularly for applications in anticounterfeiting, agriculture, and color hue detection. Conventional sunlight simulators are often cost-prohibitive and bulky. Therefore, the development of a series of single-phase phosphors Ca9LiMg1-xAl2x/3(PO4)7:0.1Eu2+ (x = 0-0.75) with sunlight-like emission represents a welcome step towards compact and economical light source alternatives. The phosphors are obtained by an original heterovalent substitution method and emit a broad spectrum   spanning from violet to deep red. Notably, the phosphor with x = 0.5 exhibits an impressive full width at half-maximum of 330 nm. A synergistic interplay of experimental investigations and theory unveils the mechanism behind sunlight-like emission due to the local structural perturbations introduced by the heterovalent substitution of Al3+ for Mg2+, leading to a varied distribution of Eu2+ within the lattice. Subsequent characterization of a series of organic dyes combining absorption spectroscopy with convolutional neural network analysis convincingly demonstrates the potential of this phosphor in portable photodetection devices. Broad-spectrum light source testing empowers the model to precisely differentiate dye patterns. This points to the phosphor being ideal for mimicking sunlight. Beyond this demonstrated application, the phosphor's utility is envisioned in other relevant domains, including visible light communication and smart agriculture.

Аннотация: The morphology and magnetic properties as well as adsorption capacity and catalytic activity of Fe3O4-Ag nanoparticles synthesized by the solvothermal method were studied in dependence on the duration of the thermolysis process (3, 6, and 8 h). X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy, and energy-dispersive spectroscopy measurements showed that the morphology of nanoparticles changed strongly as the duration of thermolysis increased. At 6 and 8 h duration, Fe3O4 nanocrystals grow and assemble into porous spherical globules with an Ag core (samples 2 and 3). These samples demonstrate high magnetization value and very low coercivity. The adsorption capacity of nanoparticles was studied with respect to two organic dyes: cationic methylene blue (MB) and anionic Congo red (CR). The particles showed preferential adsorption of the cationic dye. High catalytic activity towards four dyes: MB, methyl orange (MO), CR, and Rhodamine C (RhC) at the presence of NaBH4 is the remarkable property of these samples. The rate constant of the catalytic reaction was 1.4 min−1. Simultaneous exposure of CR and MO dyes to nanoparticles and NaBH4 caused their irreversible 100 % degradation while in the case of MB and RhC, a transition to their leuco form occurred.

Аннотация: A simple method for magnetoresistance measurements in weak fields based on using a low-frequency alternating magnetic field is proposed. The special feature of this method is the direct measurement of the difference in resistance ΔR of the sample under study in the field and in the absence of the field, which offers a chance to significantly increase measurement sensitivity. The automatic setup for measuring temperature dependencies of magnetoresistance of film metallic samples with a ΔR sensitivity of up to 10-7 Ω is described. The temperature dependencies of magnetoresistance of thin-film nanocrystalline Co-Cu alloy samples in weak magnetic fields and in a temperature range of 77-300 K are studied

Аннотация: The authors propose a way of reconstructing the Raman tensor by studying the angular dependences of the intensities of the Raman lines of unoriented microcrystals. The technique is verified using familiar calomel Hg2Cl2 crystals. It is shown that the lines on DUT-8 (Ni) crystals indicating phases with open and closed pores have different types of symmetries. The technique can be used to reconstruct the Raman tensor for any unoriented crystalline sample.

Аннотация: The field dependence of the magnetization along the hard axes in a four-sublattice ferromagnet PbMnBO4 is calculated by the numerical minimization of the ground state energy in the approximation of classical magnetic moments. The parameters of anisotropic interactions—the second-order single-ion anisotropy constants, the magnitude and direction of the antisymmetric exchange vector, and the symmetric anisotropic exchange tensor—are obtained by a comparison with experimental magnetization curves. The direction of the Dzyaloshinskii–Moriya interaction vector is close to the orthorhombic c axis. The symmetric exchange tensor has an almost uniaxial form with the easy axis perpendicular to the antisymmetric exchange vector. Changes in the energy of each anisotropic interaction during magnetization reorientation are calculated.

Аннотация: The threshold structural transformation of the DUT-4 metal–organic framework (MOF) from an ordered to distorted phase during exposure to ambient conditions has been revealed. The in situ X-ray diffraction analysis, in situ Raman and FTIR spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy and synchronous thermal analysis have been used for investigation. The reversible effect of exposure time and humidity on such a phase transition has been confirmed. We also demonstrated that the observed phase transition correlated well with changes in the optical and electronic properties of DUT-4, paving the way to a new family of MOF-based phase change materials for optoelectronic applications.

Аннотация: It was shown that the method of mechanical separation with filtration could be used to separate metal nanoparticles in a carbon shell. The method was used for separation of FeNi nanoparticles with a carbon shell, previously isolated from carbon condensate by boiling in acids. The particles had a crystalline structure and magnetic characteristics (Mr/Ms = 0.30, Hc = 270 Oe). Method of mechanical separation with filtration made it possible to separate the sample into particles coated with a carbon shell (particles size 40–50 nm, size of the metal core 10–15 nm), and into metal particles with a diameter of 6–15 nm, dispersed in a carbon matrix. The work shows that the samples have similar magnetic properties (Mr/Ms = 0.27, Hc = 236 Oe) and chemical composition (Ni ∼ 10 wt.%, Fe ∼ 12 wt.%, C ∼ 57 wt.%). However, the samples differ in structure, one contains FeNi(220), FeNi(200), FeNi(111) and C(002) phases, while the other contains only FeNi(200) and C(002) phases.

Аннотация: Luminous marine bacteria are traditionally used as a bioassay due to the convenience and high rate of registering the intensity of their physiological function – luminescence. This study aimed to develop the application of Photobacterium phosphoreum in traditional and novel fields – toxicity monitoring and biotechnology. We demonstrated (1) effects of selenite ions on bioluminescence, and (2) biotransformation of selenite to selenium(0) in the form of nanoparticles. The effects of selenite (SeO32−) on the intensity of bacterial bioluminescence were studied, and its dependencies on exposure time and concentration of Na2SeO3 were analyzed. Bioluminescence activation and inhibition were revealed; dose–effect dependencies corresponded to the hormesis model. The toxicity of SeO32− was characterized by an effective concentration of 10−3 M. Effects of SeO32− on reactive oxygen species (ROS) in bacterial suspensions were studied. High positive correlations were found between the bioluminescence intensity and ROS content, which indicates the decisive role of ROS and associated redox processes in the bioeffects of selenite ions. Scanning and transmission electron microscopy revealed the presence of nano-structures in the bacteria exposed to selenite. The energy dispersion spectrum detected a high content of selenium in the nanoparticles. The particle size distribution depended on Na2SeO3 concentration; maxima of the distribution varied within 45–55 nm.

Аннотация: We have analyzed chemical bonding of atmospheric oxygen with chromium and manganese on the epitaxial MAX-phase (Cr0.5Mn0.5)2GaC surface using Auger electron spectroscopy combined with ion etching. It was found that the system has a specific anisotropic oxidation where oxygen atoms bind to chromium and manganese ones more actively at the faces of layered MAX phase crystallites in contrast to the (0001) basal plane. At the same time, the dominance of the Mn–O chemical bonding over Cr–O is observed on the latter.
