Аннотация: The dynamic susceptibility and the one-dimensional density of states (DOS) of an initially sinusoidal superlattice (SL) with simultaneous presence of two-dimensional (2D) phase inhomogeneities that simulate the deformations of the interfaces between the SL's layers and three-dimensional (3D) amplitude inhomogeneities of the layer material of the SL were investigated. An analytical expression for the averaged Green's function of the sinusoidal SL with 2D phase inhomogeneities was obtained in the Bourret approximation. It was shown that the effect of increasing asymmetry of heights of the dynamic susceptibility peaks at the edge of the Brillouin zone of the SL, which was found in [6] at increasing the rms fluctuations of 2D inhomogeneities, also takes place at increasing the correlation wave number of such inhomogeneities. It was also shown that The increase of the tins fluctuations of 3D amplitude inhomogeneities in the superlattice with 2D phase inhomogeneities leads to the suppression of the asymmetry effect and to the decrease of the depth of the DOS gap.

Аннотация: A self-consistent approximation of a higher level than the standard self-consistent approximation, known in various fields of physics as the Migdal, Kraichnan or Born self-consistent approximation, is derived taking into account both the first and second terms of the series for the vertex function. In contrast to the standard approximation, the new self-consistent approximation is described by a system of two coupled nonlinear integral equations for the self-energy and the vertex function. In addition to all the diagrams with non-intersecting lines of correlation/interaction taken into account by the standard self-consistent approximation, the new approach takes into account in each term of the Green's function expansion a significant number of diagrams with intersections of these lines. Because of this, the shape, linewidth, and amplitude of the resonance peaks of the dynamic susceptibility calculated in this approximation are much closer to the exact values of these characteristics. The advantage of the new self-consistent approach is demonstrated by the example of calculation of the dynamic susceptibility of waves in an inhomogeneous medium. © 2016 IOP Publishing Ltd.

Аннотация: This is a study of the dispersion relations and damping of spin waves in ferromagnets with inhomogeneities in their exchange and magnetic anisotropy parameters and of elastic waves in isotropic media with inhomogeneities in the density of matter and in the elastic force constants, with cross correlations between these inhomogeneities taken into account. A general behavior is found which is independent of the physical nature of the waves: the kind of effect cross correlations between inhomogeneities in any two parameters of a material will have on the wave spectrum depends on whether both parameters belong to the same (i.e., both belong to the kinetic part or both belong to the potential part) or to different parts of the hamiltonian. In the former case, positive cross correlations lead to a substantial modification of the dispersion relation and to increased wave damping, and in the latter case, to a smaller modification of these characteristics. On the other hand, negative cross correlations lead to the opposite effects in both cases. This behavior is explained qualitatively. (c) 2010 American Institute of Physics. [doi:10.1063/1.3490860]

Аннотация: The effect of one-(1D) and three-dimensional (3D) inhomogeneities on the high-frequency magnetic susceptibility at the boundary of the first Brillouin zone of a ferromagnetic superlattice is studied. The study is performed with an earlier developed method of random spatial modulation (RSM) of the superlattice period. In this method, structural inhomogeneities are described in terms of the random-phase model, in which the phase depends on three coordinates in the general case. The frequency spacing Delta v(m) between two peaks in the imaginary part of the averaged Green's function, which characterizes the gap width in the frequency spectrum at the boundary of the Brillouin zone, is calculated as a function of both the root-mean-square fluctuations gamma(i) and the correlation wavenumbers eta(i) of phase inhomogeneities (i = 1 and 3 for 1D and 3D inhomogeneities, respectively). The function Delta v(m)(gamma(1), eta(1)) for 1D inhomogeneities is shown to be symmetric with respect to inter- changing the variables gamma(1)(2) and eta(1), whereas the function Delta v(m)(gamma(3), eta(3)) for 3D inhomogeneities is strongly asym- metric with respect to interchanging gamma(3)(2) eta(3). This effect is associated with the difference in form between the correlation functions of 1D and 3D inhomogeneities and can be used to determine the dimensionality of inhomogeneities from the results of spectral studies of such superlattices. Аннотация: Cross Correlations between components of a mixture of one-dimensional (I D) and three-diniensional (3D) inhomogenetics are described by introducing a distribution function taking into account correlations between absolute values of two random variables in the absence of correlations between the variables themselves. This distribution function is used for derivation and analysis of the superlattice correlation function containing a mixture of cross-correlated 1D and 3D in homogeneitics. The effect of such inhomogeneities on the high-frequency susceptibility at the edge of the first Brillouin zone of the superlattice is investigated. It is shown that positive cross correlations partly suppress the effect of a mixture of 1D and 3D inhomogeneities on the wave spectrum: the gap at the boundary of the Brillouin zone increases, and wave damping decreases as compared to the effect produced by a mixture of 1D and 3D inhomogeneities in the absence of cross correlations. Negative cross correlations lead to the opposite effect: the gap decreases and wave damping increases. Cross correlations also lead to the emergence of new resonance effects: a narrow dip or a narrow peak at the center of the band gap (depending on the sign of the correlation factor).

Аннотация: Effects of cross correlations between inhomogeneities of the exchange and magnetic-anisotropy parameters on the spectrum and damping of spin waves in a ferromagnet are investigated. One- and three-dimensional inhomogeneities are considered. It is demonstrated that the positive cross correlations lead to an increase in the modification of the dispersion law and the damping of spin waves. The negative cross correlations result in the opposite effects: a decrease in the modification of the dispersion law and a decrease in the damping of spin waves. A comparison of the specific features revealed in this work and the results of targeted experimental investigations of modifications of the dispersion laws and damping in inhomogeneous magnets would make it possible to determine the contribution of the cross correlations to the formation of the stochastically inhomogeneous ground state in amorphous magnetic alloys.
