Charge inhomogeneity -- Jahn–Teller (pseudo-) effect -- Doped 2D perovskite cuprates -- Phonon chirality
Аннотация: In the work we highlight the structural features of 2D perovskite cuprates (tilted CuO6 octahedra with different orientation with respect to spacer rocksalt layers), where sources of charge and spin inhomogeneity can be hidden. We used the impurity Anderson model with the Jahn–Teller(JT) local cells to show the charge inhomogeneity arises at any low doping concentration x, but disappears when the doping level exceeds threshold concentration xc, and the smaller the magnitudes xc, the larger the area of regions with JT pseudo effect. It is expected that spontaneous chiral symmetry breaking in the dynamic JT state of the stripe CuO2 layer as a whole can lead to the appearance of the goldstone phonon mode. As consequence, the giant thermal Hall effect could be observed in the 2D perovskite cuprates with CuO6 octahedra, rather than with CuO4 squares, e.g. in the Tl-based n layer cuprates or cuprates based on infinite-layer CaCuO2 structure.

3d-ions -- crystal growth -- optical spectroscopy -- magnetic ordering -- cuprates
Аннотация: This work presents information on the growth and spectroscopic study of single crystals of copper metaborate doped with nickel Cu1–xNixB2O4 (x = 0.05, 0.1). In the absorption spectra of both crystals, satellites related to Cu centers distorted by impurity Ni atoms were observed near the lines of zero phonon transitions. Polarization studies in the isotropic ab-plane of the tetragonal crystal Cu1–xNixB2O4 show the presence of linear magnetic dichroism in the magnetically ordered state, which was previously observed both in manganese-doped and undoped copper metaborates CuB2O4. The temperature of magnetic phase transitions into the collinear antiferromagnetic and into helicoidal structures, TN = 19.1 K and T * = 8.6 K, respectively, were determined from the temperature dependence of the dichroic signal.

strong electronic correlations -- cuprates -- Hubbard model -- cluster perturbation theory
Аннотация: The physics of high-Tc superconducting cuprates is obscured by the effect of strong electronic correlations. One way to overcome this problem is to seek an exact solution at least within a small cluster and expand it to the whole crystal. Such an approach is at the heart of cluster perturbation theory (CPT). Here, we developed CPT for the dynamic spin and charge susceptibilities (spin-CPT and charge-CPT), with the correlation effects explicitly taken into account by the exact diagonalization. We applied spin-CPT and charge-CPT to the effective two-band Hubbard model for the cuprates obtained from the three-band Emery model and calculated one- and two-particle correlation functions, namely, a spectral function and spin and charge susceptibilities. The doping dependence of the spin susceptibility was studied within spin-CPT and CPT-RPA, that is, the CPT generalization of the random phase approximation (RPA). In the underdoped region, both our methods resulted in the signatures of the upper branch of the spin excitation dispersion with the lowest excitation energy at the (π,π) wave vector and no presence of low-energy incommensurate excitations. In the high doping region, both methods produced a low energy response at four incommensurate wave vectors in qualitative agreement with the results of the inelastic neutron scattering experiments on overdoped cuprates.

Аннотация: In this work, the concentration and temperature dependence of the superconducting gap of the HTSC cuprate in the orthorhombic phase are obtained within the framework of the Hubbard model taking into account the exchange mechanism of pairing. To elucidate the reasons for the unexpectedly large s*-wave component of the superconducting gap in the overdoped regime, the electronic structure of low-energy excitations and the k-dependent contributions of pair states to the gap components were investigated. It is shown that the s*-wave component growth results from the shallowing of the electron pocket in the region of the s*-wave component maximum.

superexchange interaction -- nanoscale inhomogeneity -- doped 2D perovskite cuprates
Аннотация: We have studied the superexchange interaction Jij in doped 2D cuprates. The AFM interaction strongly depends on the state of the lattice of a CuO2 layer surrounded by two LaO rock salt layers. In a static U and D stripe nanostructure, the homogeneous AFM interaction is impossible due to the U/D/U… periodic stripe sequence and TN=0. In a dynamic stripe nanostructure, the ideal CuO2 layer with nonlocal effects and the homogeneous AFM interaction are restored. However, the interaction Jij decreases by the exponential factor due to partial dynamic quenching. The meaning of the transition from the dynamic to the static cases lies in the spontaneous θ-symmetry breaking with respect to the rotation of all the tilted CuO6 octahedra by an orientation angle δθ=n⋅(45°) (where n=1÷4) in the U and D stripe nanostructure of the CuO2 layer. Moreover, the structural features help to study various experimental data on the charge inhomogeneity, Fermi level pinning in the p type cuprates only and time reversal symmetry breaking from a unified point of view.

unconventional superconductors -- iron pnictides -- iron chalcogenides -- impurity scattering -- penetration depth
Аннотация: One of the features of the unconventional s± state in iron-based superconductors is possibility to transform to the s++ state with the increase of the nonmagnetic disorder. Detection of such a transition would prove the existence of the s± state. Here we study the temperature dependence of the London magnetic penetration depth within the two-band model for the s± and s++ superconductors. By solving Eliashberg equations accounting for the spin-fluctuation mediated pairing and nonmagnetic impurities in the T-matrix approximation, we have derived a set of specific signatures of the s± → s++ transition: (1) sharp change in the behavior of the penetration depth λL as a function of the impurity scattering rate at low temperatures; (2) before the transition, the slope of ΔλL(T) = λL(T) - λL(0) increases as a function of temperature, and after the transition this value decreases; (3) the sharp jump in the inverse square of the penetration depth as a function of the impurity scattering rate, λL-2(Γa), at the transition; (4) change from the single-gap behavior in the vicinity of the transition to the two-gap behavior upon increase of the impurity scattering rate in the superfluid density ρs(T).

Кл.слова (ненормированные):
strongly correlated electron systems -- high-temperature superconductivity -- spin polarons -- intersite Coulomb interaction -- London penetration depth
Аннотация: The review discusses the emergence of the spinfermion model of cuprates and the formation of the spin-polaron concept of the electronic structure of hole-doped cuprate superconductors. This concept has allowed describing the properties of cuprates in the normal phase as well as the features of superconducting pairing in the unified approach. The derivation of the spin-fermion model from the Emery model in the regime of strong electronic correlations is described, demonstrating the appearance of strong coupling between the spins of copper ions and holes on oxygen ions. Such a strong interaction against the background of the singlet state of the spin subsystem of copper ions (quantum spin liquid) leads to the formation of special Fermi quasiparticlesDnonlocal spin polarons. Under doping, the spin-polaron ensemble exhibits instability with respect to superconducting d-wave pairing, whereas superconducting swave pairing is not implemented. At the optimal doping, the transition to the superconducting phase occurs at temperatures corresponding to experimental data. It is shown that the superconducting d-wave pairing of spin-polaron quasiparticles is not suppressed by the Coulomb repulsion of holes located on neighboring oxygen ions. It is emphasized that, when the spectral characteristics of spin-polaron quasiparticles are taken into account, the calculated temperature and doping dependences of the London penetration depth are in good agreement with experimental data.

Перевод заглавия: Пористые высокотемпературные сверхпроводящие купраты: преимущества и применения
Аннотация: Porous high-Tc superconducting cuprates are promising materials representing an alternative preparation route to enable the fabrication of large-scale, light-weight superconducting samples. There are several advantages of such samples including the much easier (and faster) oxygenation process, a simpler scalability to produce large samples, and of course, the reduced weight. Two different types of such samples were prepared in the literature: (i) Superconducting foams, prepared using polyurethane foams converted to green phase foams followed by an infiltration growth (IG) process. (ii) Superconducting nanowire networks prepared by spinning from sol-gel precursors. Such fabric-like nanowire networks are extremely light-weight, but show very interesting properties. We discuss the properties of such samples concerning both the physical parameters and the respective microstructures and give an overview about possible applications.

Аннотация: Taking into account the real crystalline structure of the CuO2 plane and the strong spin-fermion coupling, the influence of the on-site Coulomb repulsion of holes Up and the intersite Coulomb repulsion V2 between holes located at the next-nearest-neighbor oxygen ions on the formation of the superconducting gap with the d-wave symmetry of the order parameter of the spin-polaron quasiparticles is studied. It is shown that the formation of the resulting superconducting gap within the spin-fermion model is caused by three components. The dependence of the narrowing of the superconducting gap on the values Up and V2 is analyzed.

HIGH-TEMPERATURE SUPERCONDUCTIVITY
   INTERSITE COULOMB REPULSION

Аннотация: The Fermi excitation spectrum, the problem of Cooper instability, and the Londons magnetic field penetration depth in cuprate superconductors are considered using the unified conception based on accounting for the strong coupling between the spin of copper ions and holes at oxygen ions. This coupling leads to strong renormalization of the primary spectrum of oxygen holes with the formation of spin-polaron quasiparticles. Analysis of Cooper instability performed using the spin-polaron concept for different channels has shown that only the superconducting d-wave pairing occurs in the ensemble of spin-polaron quasiparticles, and there are no solutions corresponding to the s-wave pairing. It has been demonstrated that the superconducting d-wave pairing is not suppressed by the Coulomb repulsion of holes located at neighboring oxygen ions. This effect is due to peculiarities in the crystallographic structure of the CuO2 plane and the aforementioned strong spin-fermion coupling. As a result, such interaction of holes is omitted in the kernel of the integral equation for the superconducting order parameter with the d-wave symmetry. It has been shown the Hubbard repulsion of holes and their interaction for the second coordination sphere of the oxygen sublattice for actual intensities of the interaction do not suppress the d-wave type of superconductivity. For the spin-polaron ensemble, we have analyzed the dependence of the Londons magnetic field penetration depth on the temperature and hole concentration. It has been established that the peculiarities of this dependence are closely related to specific features of the spin-polaron spectrum.

Аннотация: A new phenomenological model is proposed to describe the evolution of the Fermi surface (FS) in a wide range of dopings. It reproduces the key features of the cuprates in the underdoped phase above the superconducting temperature Tc. It is shown that the explicit accounting of strong electron correlation in the framework of the t−J model taken in complementary to the translational symmetry breaking induced by the charge density wave (CDW) gives rise to the Fermi surface reconstruction (FSR) into small electron pockets. While the strong Coulomb repulsion leads to an emergence of the arclike Fermi surface in the pseudogap (PG) phase, the Bragg reflection on the boundaries of the reduced Brillouin zone (BZ) opens up a possibility to close the quasiparticle orbits. Direct calculation of the FS properties allows us to unveil the scenario of the experimentally observed transition to the CDW phase that sets in at the doping level δ≈0.08 and is accompanied by a divergence of the carriers effective mass and the sign reversals of the Hall and Seebeck coefficients.

Effect of electron-phonon interaction on the doping and temperature depended spectral function in cuprates / I. A. Makarov, S. G. Ovchinnikov // Superstripes 2017 : [absrtacts] / ed. A. Аннотация: The generalized tight binding (GTB) method to calculate the electronic structure of strongly correlated electrons in cuprates is modified to incorporate also strong electronphonon interaction. By exact diagonalization of the p-d- Holstain model Hamiltonian for a separate CuO6 unit cell we find the multelectron and multiphonon local eigenstates that are used to construct a set of local Hubbard operators. Then we treat the intercell electron hopping t by the perturbation approach over small ratio t/U, where U is the charge transfer excitation energy. Without electron-phonon interaction we obtain the band of spin polaron and a set of local multiphonon Franck-Condon excitations. The electron-phonon interaction results in the hybridization of spin polaron and Franck Condon excitations that forms the polaronic band structure with strong temperature dependence. The temperature dependence of the polaronic band structure and Fermi surface is discussed. The peak of a spectral function at the top of the valence band has large width typical to the ARPES data and determined by a large number of the multiphonon excitations.

strong electron correlation -- spin-fermion model -- Kondo lattice model -- spin polaron
Аннотация: The spin-fermion model, which is an effective low-energy realization of the three-band Emery model after passing to the Wannier representation for the px and py orbitals of the subsystem of oxygen ions, reduces to the generalized Kondo lattice model. A specific feature of this model is the existence of spin-correlated hoppings of the current carriers between distant cells. Numerical calculations of the spectrum of spin-electron excitations highlight the important role of the long-range spin-correlated hoppings.

High-temperature superconductivity -- Cuprates -- Strong electronic correlations -- Cluster form of perturbation theory -- Hubbard operator -- Three-band p-d model -- Electron-phonon interaction -- Polaron -- Franck-Condon broadening
Аннотация: In this work dependences of the electron band structure and spectral function in the HTSC cuprates on magnitude of electron-phonon interaction (EPI) and temperature are investigated. We use three-band p-d model with diagonal and offdiagonal EPI with breathing and buckling phonon mode in the frameworks of polaronic version of the generalized tight binding (GTB) method. The polaronic quasiparticle excitation in the system with EPI within this approach is formed by a hybridization of the local multiphonon Franck-Condon excitations with lower and upper Hubbard bands. Increasing EPI leads to transfer of spectral weight to high-energy multiphonon excitations and broadening of the spectral function. Temperature effects are taken into account by occupation numbers of local excited polaronic states and variations in the magnitude of spin-spin correlation functions. Increasing the temperature results in band structure reconstruction, spectral weight redistribution, broadening of the spectral function peak at the top of the valence band and the decreasing of the peak intensity. The effect of EPI with two phonon modes on the polaron spectral function is discussed. © 2017 SPIE.
