Аннотация: In this paper we propose an optimization procedure for quality-factor (Q-factor) enhancement in dielectric oligomers. The oligomers are introduced as linear periodic chains of dielectric elements the individual Q factors of which are optimized via multipolar conversion in an avoided crossing of two resonant eigenfrequencies. It is demonstrated that when such dielectric elements are assembled into an infinite periodic array the coupling between individual resonances gives rise to an in-Γ optical bound state in the continuum (BIC) unprotected by symmetry. By setting up the oligomers of finite numbers of dielectric elements we observe high quality resonances which occur as traces of the infinite array band structure. The resulting high quality resonances exhibit light localization spots of a few squared wavelengths with Q factors Q ˃10 4. The localization is provided by similarity of the field pattern to that of the BIC with the losses at the edges of the array suppressed due to an almost flat BIC host band. The scaling law of the Q factor against the dielectric permittivity is derived.

Аннотация: The effect of surfactants on the structure, morphology, and magnetic properties of FexSy iron-sulfide nanoparticles synthesized by thermal decomposition is studied. Oleylamine, hexadecylamine, and octadecylamine are used as surfactants. It is established by X-ray and electron-diffraction analysis combined with Mossbauer spectroscopy that, in samples 1 and 2 prepared using oleylamine and hexadecylamine, respectively, the Fe3S4 greigite phase dominates, with an inverse spinel structure isostructural to the iron oxide Fe3O4 magnetite with minor Fe9S11 impurities. Deviations in the distribution of iron cations over the tetrahedral and octahedral sites relative to the bulk greigite crystals are observed. The nanoparticles synthesized using octadecylamine (sample 3) are found to be multiphase with a greigite fraction of ~20%. In all three cases, as showed the results of transmission electron microscopy and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy together with thermogravimetry analysis, the magnetic nanoparticles have an organic shell chemically bonded to their magnetic core, which prevents the agglomeration of the particles. This shell is much more massive in samples 2 and 3. The magnetization values for samples 1 and 2 are similar to those of greigite nanoparticles reported in publications, while the magnetization of sample 3 is several times lower, in accordance with the greigite fraction in it. The combination of fairly high magnetization with a massive organic shell allows one to consider hexadecylamine to be a promising surfactant for the synthesis of iron-sulfide nanoparticles protected from external impact and agglomeration.

Аннотация: Gadolinium (Gd)-containing fullerenols are perspective agents for magnetic resonance imaging and cancer research. They combine the unique paramagnetic properties of Gd with solubility in water, low toxicity and antiradical activity of fullerenols. We compared the bioeffects of two Gd-containing fullerenols with a different number of oxygen groups—20 and 42: Gd@C82O20H14 and Gd@C82O42H32. The bioluminescent bacteria-based assay was applied to monitor the toxicity of fullerenols, bioluminescence was applied as a signal physiological parameter, and bacterial enzyme-based assay was used to evaluate the fullerenol effects on enzymatic intracellular processes. Chemiluminescence luminol assay was applied to monitor the content of reactive oxygen species (ROS) in bacterial and enzymatic media. It was shown that Gd@C82O42H32 and Gd@C82O20H14 inhibited bacterial bioluminescence at >10?1 and >10?2 gL?1, respectively, revealing a lower toxicity of Gd@C82O42H32. Low-concentration (10?3–10?1 gL?1) bacterial bioluminescence activation by Gd@C82O42H32 was observed, while this activation was not found under exposure to Gd@C82O20H14. Additional carboxyl groups in the structure of Gd@C82O42H32 were determined by infrared spectroscopy and confirmed by quantum chemical calculations. The groups were supposed to endow Gd@C82O42H32 with higher penetration ability through the cellular membrane, activation ability, lower toxicity, balancing of the ROS content in the bacterial suspensions, and lower aggregation in aqueous media.

Аннотация: The problem of finding the Green's function of spin and electromagnetic waves in the sinusoidal superlattice is considered. An analytical expression for the spectral representation of the Green's function has been found in the form of ascending continued fractions, the particular denominators of which are ordinary continued fractions. The Green’s function in the r -space has been found by the numerical Fourier transformation of the Greens’s function found in the spectral representation. © (2015) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.

Exchange splitting of Nd3+ spectral lines due to magnetic interactions in a magnetically ordered state was observed. Аннотация: We consider propagating bound states in the continuum in dielectric gratings. The gratings consist of a slab with ridges periodically arranged either on top or on both sides of the slab. Based on the Fourier modal approach, we recover the leaky zones above the line of light to identify the geometries of the gratings supporting Bloch bound states propagating in the direction perpendicular to the ridges. Most importantly, it is demonstrated that if a two-sided grating possesses either mirror or glide symmetry, the Bloch bound states are stable to variation of parameters as long as the above symmetries are preserved.

Аннотация: We demonstrate the relation between a global phase of the quantum gate and the layout of energy levels of its effective Hamiltonian required for implementing the gate for minimum time. By an example of the quantum Fourier transform gate for a qudit represented by a quadrupole nucleus with the spin I = 1, the effective Hamiltonians and minimum implementation times for different global phases are found. Using numerical optimal control methods, the problem of the global phase in searching for the optimal pulse shape is considered in detail for the quantum Fourier transform gate at I = 1, 3/2, 2, and 5/2. It is shown that at the constrained control time the gradient algorithms can converge to the solutions corresponding to different global phases or the same global phase with different minimum times of the gate implementation.

Аннотация: We consider the problem of time-optimal realization of the quantum Fourier transform gate for a single qudit with number of levels d from 3 to 8. As a qudit the quadrupole nucleus with spin I > 1/2 controlled by NMR is considered. We calculate the dependencies of the gate error on the duration of radio-frequency pulse obtained by numerical optimization using Krotov-based algorithm. It is shown that the dependences of minimum time of QFT gate implementation on qudit dimension are different for integer and half-integer spins.

Аннотация: The relation between microstructural and magnetic properties of thin obliquely deposited films has been studied by means of numerical techniques. Using our developed simulation code based on ballistic deposition model and Fourier space approach, we have investigated dependences of magnetometric tensor components and magnetic anisotropy parameters on the deposition angle of the films. A modified Netzelmann approach has been employed to study structural and magnetic parameters of an isolated column in the samples with tilted columnar microstructure. Reliability and validity of used numerical methods is confirmed by a good agreement of the calculation results with each other, as well as with our experimental data obtained by the ferromagnetic resonance measurements of obliquely deposited thin Ni80Fe20 films. The combination of these numerical methods can be used to design a magnetic film with a desirable value of uniaxial magnetic anisotropy and to extract the obliquely deposited film structure from only magnetic measurements. © 2017 Elsevier B.V.

Аннотация: A quantum circuit has been proposed for the algorithm for finding the permutation order on two qudits with the number of levels d(1) and d(2). The sequence of the RF pulses for implementing the algorithm on two quadrupole nuclei I-1 = 7/2 (d(1) = 8) and I-2 = 3/2 (d(2) = 4) has been calculated and the algorithm has been numerically simulated. A method for preparing pseudopure states has been presented. A comparison with the implementation of the algorithm by NMR methods on five qubits has been performed.

Аннотация: Elementary logical operators (selective rotation, Fourier transform, controllable phase shift, and SUM gate) are considered for a quantum computer based on three-level systems (qutrits) represented by nuclear spins I = 1 under nuclear magnetic resonance conditions. The computer simulation of the realization of these operators by means of simple and composite selective radiofrequency (RF) pulses and optimized RF pulses is performed. The time dependence of the amplitude of last pulses is found by numerical optimization at different durations. Two variants are proposed for realization of a two-qutrit SUM gate by using one-qutrit or two-qutrit optimized RF pulses. The calculated time dependences of realization errors were used to study the time optimality of different methods for obtaining gates, proposed earlier and in this paper. The advantages and disadvantages of each of the methods are evaluated for different values of physical parameters.

Аннотация: Sequences of selective pulses of an RF magnetic field for realizing the quantum Fourier transform by NMR methods on systems with four, six, and eight nonequidistant levels are found using the virtual spin formalism. The results can be applied to other quantum systems when laser pulses are used.

Аннотация: We have calculated the sequences of nonselective rotation operators separated by intervals of free evolution that perform selective rotations between adjacent levels in systems with three, four, five, and six nonequidistant levels. We have numerically simulated the realization of the calculated sequences for quadrupole nuclei with corresponding spins controlled by intense nonselective radio-frequency (RF) pulses and investigated the dependences of the realization error on the parameters of external and internal interactions. To reduce the error when the RF field is not strong enough, we have found composite nonselective RF pulses consisting of five simple ones. We show that the error of the composite selective rotation operator can be reduced signifi- cantly in comparison to the error of a simple single selective pulse.
