Аннотация: The negative magnetoresistance of thin In2O3 films, obtained by an autowave oxidation reaction, was detected within a temperature range of 4.2-80 K. The magnetoresistance was -1.35% at a temperature of 4.2 K and an external magnetic field of 1 T. A weak localization theory was used to explain the negative magnetoresistance and to determine the phase-coherence length in a temperature range of 4.2-80 K. The phase-coherence length was found to oscillate as the temperatures increased to around 30 K. From the maximum and minimum values of the oscillation of the phase-coherence length, it was suggested that the In2O3 film has two structure characteristic parameters. Transmission electron microscopy showed the structure of the thin In2O3 film to have structural features of a crystal phase- amorphous phase. It was found that the crystalline phase characteristic size was consistent with the maximum phase-coherence length and the amorphous phase characteristic size was consistent with the minimum phase-coherence length. It has been suggested that the temperature measurements of the magnetoresistance and the theory of weak localization can be used to evaluate the structural features of nanocomposite or nanostructured thin films. Аннотация: We studied the feasibility of using a short-term culture of monocytes, isolated from peripheral donor blood, to assess the biological activity of different types of bionanomaterials (BNM): biodegradable polimeric particles, fiber and film substrates of micro- and nano-dimensions, fullerenes (F) and nanodiamonds (ND), which are either currently in use and/or potentially applicable in medicine. Additionally, the effect of creating a protein corona on ND and F particles was investigated. The cellular reduction of (4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT) is a well-established tool for assessing the viability/metabolic activity of cells. The scanning electron microscopy assay can detect fine changes in cell morphology. In the present study BNM have been shown to affect; in a size, chemical composition and morphological characteristics-dependent manner, the ability of monocytes to reduce MTT as well as their morphology. Moreover, the specific effects of ND and F on MTT reduction and cell morphology were exhibited in a dose-dependent manner and sensitive to the formation of surface protein corona. Our results suggest that short-term culture of monocytes is a sensitive model system for assessing the biological effects of BMPs in vitro. © 2016 Elsevier Ltd

Аннотация: Dipole optical excitations on fractals are numerically simulated. It is shown that dipole eigen-modes of fractals are localized. The corresponding localization length dependence on the generalized frequency parameter (dispersion law) has been calculated. The value of optical spectral dimension found from the dispersion relations is in agreement with the result obtained earlier from calculations of the density of eigenstates.

    On the effect of an inhomogeneous magnetic field and many-body localization on the increase in the second moment of multiple-quantum NMR with time / V. E. Zobov, A. A. Lundin // JETP Letters. - 2017. - Vol. 105, Is. 8. - P. 514-518, DOI 10.1134/S0021364017080148. - Cited References: 27 . - ISSN 0021-3640
Аннотация: A change in the time dependence of the second moment of the distribution of intensities of coherences with various orders in the spectrum of multiple-quantum NMR in a solid at the inclusion of an inhomogeneous magnetic field in the effective interaction is studied. Both the secular dipole–dipole and nonspecular twoquantum interactions are considered as nucleus–nucleus interactions, which correspond to traditional experimental realizations. It is shown that, with an increase in the magnitude of the inhomogeneous field, an exponential increase in the second moment of multiple-quantum NMR with time changes to a power-law increase. The results obtained in this work indicate that this second moment, which determines the average number of dynamically correlated spins, can be used as a convenient characteristic for studying a transition to a many-body localized state. © 2017, Pleiades Publishing, Inc.

Аннотация: Particular electro-physical characteristics of CuO nanopowder were investigated by impedance spectroscopy using a sensor based on interdigitated structure in the frequency range from 1 Hz to 100 MHz. The results of investigation were considered. Simulation of impedance spectra by equivalent electric circuits was carried out for numerical approximations of the frequency dependences of the dielectrical permittivity and conductivity. Electric charge accumulation of on the boundaries of nanoparticles and near the metal electrodes of the sensor was revealed. It was shown that a double electric layer is formed near the electrodes, which leads to the appearance of anomalously large values of dielectrical permittivity and an increase in the conductivity in the low-frequency region. The obtained results can be explained by proton conductivity in the nanopowder caused by moisture which is adsorbed on the surface of the nanoparticles. It was shown that after high-temperature annealing of CuO nanopowders, accumulation of electric charges was not observed. It was established that hopping or polaron conductivity occurs in the annealed CuO samples, which increases with increasing electric field frequency according to the power law with a fractional exponent.

Аннотация: The possibility of the existence of localized optical modes with maximum field intensity at the interface between the metal and cholesteric liquid crystal is theoretically grounded. The system comprises a defect-containing cholesteric liquid crystal and a metal layer. It is established that the localization occurs at almost any defect thickness rather than only at the half-wave thickness, at which the loss of the polarization dependence of diffraction reflection and the absence of field localization are observed for the structure without the metallic layer. It is demonstrated that the spectral properties can be controlled by external fields affecting the liquid crystal. At large thicknesses of the cholesteric liquid crystal between the defect and the metallic layer, the spectrum contains the pronounced peaks corresponding to the edge modes. The results obtained open new opportunities for controlling the transmittance spectrum, polarization, and localization of light in optoelectronic elements based on the investigated system. © 2017 Optical Society of America.

Аннотация: We analyzemicroscopic models of the particle source or sink which consist of a one- or two-site Bose-Hubbard model (the system) weakly coupled to amany-site Bose-Hubbard model (the reservoir). Assuming unequal filling factors for the system and reservoir, we numerically study equilibration dynamics and compare it with the solution of the master equation on the reduced density matrix of the system. Necessary conditions for the validity of the master equation approach are formulated.

Аннотация: We consider Aharonov-Bohm oscillations in a mesoscopic semiconductor ring threaded by both a constant magnetic flux and a time-dependent, resonant magnetic field with one or two frequencies. Working in the ballistic regime, we establish that the theory of ''quantum nonlinear resonance'' applies, and thus that this system represents a possible solid-state realization of ''quantum nonlinear resonance'' and ''quantum chaos.'' In particular, we investigate the behavior of the time-averaged electron energy at zero temperature in the regimes of (i) an isolated quantum nonlinear resonance and (ii) the transition to quantum chaos, when two quantum nonlinear resonances overlap. The time-averaged energy exhibits sharp resonant behavior as a function of the applied constant magnetic flux, and has a staircase dependence on the amplitude of the external time-dependent field. In the chaotic regime, the resonant behavior exhibits complex structure as a function of flux and frequency. We compare and contrast the quantum chaos expected in these mesoscopic ''solid-state atoms'' with that observed in Rydberg atoms in microwave fields, and discuss the prospects for experimental observation of the effects we predict.

Аннотация: We study a resistively shunted semiconductor superlattice subject to a high-frequency electric field. Using a balance equation approach that incorporates the influence of the electric circuit, we determine numerically a range of amplitude and frequency of the ac field for which a de bias and current are generated spontaneously and show that this region is likely accessible to current experiments. Our simulations reveal that the Bloch frequency corresponding to the spontaneous de bias is approximately an integer multiple of the ac field frequency.

Wannier-Bloch states -- quantum chaos
Аннотация: In this Letter we study the metastable states of a Bloch particle in the presence of external ac and de fields. For the resonance condition between the period of the driving frequency and the Bloch period, the complex quasi-energies are numerically calculated for two qualitatively different regimes (quasi-regular and chaotic) of the system dynamics. For the chaotic regime an effect of quantum stabilization, which suppresses the classical decay mechanism, is found. This effect is demonstrated to be a kind of quantum phenomenon sensitive to the resonance condition. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science B.V.

We argue that such well-known phenomena as strong fluctuation of local electromagnetic fields, appearance of "hot spots" and enhancement of nonlinear optical responses depend on the local structure on the scales of several nanosphere diameters, rather than the large-scale fractal geometry of the sample. Аннотация: The influence of quasilocal vibrations on the far-infrared spectra of glasses is investigated under the supposition that the quasilocal vibrations are directly inactive in the attenuation. It is shown that taking into account phonon-quasilocal-vibration coupling and both medium- and short-range structure of the inhomogeneities of a photon-phonon coupling parameter can give rise to an attenuation curve similar to one observed for a-SiO2 and related materials.

This distribution function is used for derivation and analysis of the superlattice correlation function containing a mixture of cross-correlated 1D and 3D in homogeneitics. The effect of such inhomogeneities on the high-frequency susceptibility at the edge of the first Brillouin zone of the superlattice is investigated. It is shown that positive cross correlations partly suppress the effect of a mixture of 1D and 3D inhomogeneities on the wave spectrum: the gap at the boundary of the Brillouin zone increases, and wave damping decreases as compared to the effect produced by a mixture of 1D and 3D inhomogeneities in the absence of cross correlations. Negative cross correlations lead to the opposite effect: the gap decreases and wave damping increases. Cross correlations also lead to the emergence of new resonance effects: a narrow dip or a narrow peak at the center of the band gap (depending on the sign of the correlation factor).

Transport properties of Aharonov-Bohm ring with superconducting bridge / S. V. Aksenov // International Workshop "Localization, Interactions and Superconductivity" : Program. - 2018. - P1.
Аннотация: We have considered the Aharonov-Bohm ring which contains superconducting wire with Rashba spin-orbit interaction as a bridge connecting the arms. Using the nonequilibrium Green’s function technique and tight-binding approach transport properties of the device were calculated in linear-response regime. It was shown that the in-plane magnetic-field dependence of conductance has two types of resonance features. If the bridge is in topologically trivial phase and its lowest excitation energy is nonzero the conventional Breit-Wigner peaks defined by the arm energy emerge. When the bridge phase changes to the nontrivial one the Fano resonances appear as a result of the interference of Majorana and arm transport channels. The width of such resonances substantially depends on the degree of localization of the Majorana state. Thus, the considered device can be used to detect these states. Additionally, the effect of Aharonov-Bohm phase on the Fano resonances was analyzed.

organic monoiodide -- phase transition -- Raman spectroscopy -- luminescence -- halogen bond
Аннотация: Crystalline chalcogenazinoquinolinium monoiodides, where the chalcogen atom is oxygen and sulfur, were studied using a combination of X-ray diffraction, Raman and UV-vis spectroscopies and photoluminescence experimental techniques. Periodic quantum-chemical calculations were performed to characterize the features of electronic structure and vibrational assignment. X-ray diffraction and Raman spectroscopy experiments consistently reveal phase transition of thiazinoquinolinium monoiodide at low temperatures with the decrease of symmetry to P1. The luminescence study for oxazinoquinolinium monoiodide reveals the excitation maximum at 532 nm and emission at 650 nm with significantly higher intensity than for the thiazinoquinolinium derivative. The studied chalcogenazinoquinolinium monoiodides demonstrate high values of Stokes shift up to 150 nm.

bound states in the continuum -- wave localization in one-dimensional wires -- open microwave and acoustic resonators -- effective non Hermitian Hamiltonian
Аннотация: I review the four mechanisms of bound states in the continuum (BICs) in the application of microwave and acoustic cavities open to directional waveguides. The most simple are symmetry-protected BICs, which are localized inside the cavity because of the orthogonality of the eigenmodes to the propagating modes of waveguides. However, the most general and interesting is the Friedrich-Wintgen mechanism, when the BICs are the result of the fully destructive interference of outgoing resonant modes. The third type of BICs, Fabry-Perot BICs, occurs in a double resonator system when each resonator can serve as an ideal mirror. Finally, the accidental BICs can be realized in the open cavities with no symmetry like the open Sinai billiard in which the eigenmode of the resonator can become orthogonal to the continuum of the waveguide accidentally due to a smooth deformation of the eigenmode. We also review the one-dimensional systems in which the BICs occur owing to the fully destructive interference of two waves separated by spin or polarization or by paths in the Aharonov-Bohm rings. We make broad use of the method of effective non-Hermitian Hamiltonian equivalent to the coupled mode theory, which detects BICs by finding zero-width resonances.

Аннотация: On the basis of the earlier developed statistical theory of the growth of the effective size of correlated clusters (the number of correlated spins), an expression for the shape of the multiple-quantum (MQ) NMR spectrum is obtained that takes into account the loss of coherence in a spin system due, for example, to the controlled intervention of the experimenter. It is shown that the scrambling and decoherence processes in the MQ spectrum of the multiparticle system of a solid are not separated, unlike the corresponding spectra of some large isolated molecules [27] in a solution. The relations obtained allow one to extract the necessary information about the above processes (scrambling and decoherence) from the dependence of the MQ spectra on experimental parameters.

Аннотация: We study the effects of relaxation/decoherence processes on quantum transport of noninteracting Fermi particles across the disordered tight-binding chain, where we distinguish between relaxation processes in the contacts (external decoherence) and those in the chain (internal decoherence). It is shown that external decoherence reduces conductance fluctuations but does not alter the Anderson localization length. This is in strong contrast with the effect of internal decoherence which is found to suppress Anderson localization. We also address quantum transport in chains with particle losses which are of considerable interest for laboratory experiments with cold atoms.
