Аннотация: Electronic structure and magnetic properties of the family of first-row transition metal dihalides (TMHal2, TM = V, Cr, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni; H = Br, I) monolayers were studied by means of density functional theory. Strong electron correlations were taken into account by implementing Hubbard U correction in a simplified scheme proposed by Dudarev et al. (Ueff). Ueff correction essentially affects electronic structure of TMHal2 widening the band gap and witnessing their highly spin-polarized nature. Two different ligand orientations namely, H and T configurations of monolayers were considered. Unlike others, FeHal2 monolayers tend to form H structure when Ueff correction is included. © 2019 Elsevier Ltd

Аннотация: Taking into account the real crystalline structure of the CuO 2 plane within the spin-fermion model and using the diagram technique, the spin-polaron concept of the fermionic excitations in cuprate superconductors is implemented. It is shown that an account of the on-site scattering processes leads to considerable binding energy of the spin-polaron quasiparticles. An account of the two-site spin-fermion scattering processes results in the energy spectrum and spectral properties of the spin-polaron quasiparticles which agree well with experimental data on cuprate superconductors.

Аннотация: It has been shown that quantum charge and spin fluctuations in a strongly correlated 2D system with a triangular lattice, significantly renormalizing the magnetic order parameter, do not destroy the coexistence phase of chiral d + id superconductivity and 120° spin ordering. The region of realization of nontrivial topology determined by the topological index N3 holds. It has been shown that edge states for the topologically non-trivial phase include a Majorana mode. The spatial structure of this mode has been determined. It has been found that spin and charge fluctuations shift the critical electron densities at which quantum topological transitions occur. It has been shown that an increase in the intersite Coulomb repulsion reduces the number of such transitions. © 2019, Pleiades Publishing, Inc.

Аннотация: We report a Raman scattering study of single-crystalline homometallic oxyborate Mn2OBO3, a compound realizing a one-dimensional ribbon-structure. Phonon excitations as a function of temperature and light polarization are compared to lattice dynamical calculations, giving evidence for a strong coupling between lattice and magnetic degrees of freedom. Furthermore, a broader feature with a distinct structure emerges at low temperatures. Based on our theoretical analysis, we assign this signal to specific two-magnon scattering processes related to high energy flat-band magnon branches.Досліджено раманівське розсіювання в монокристалі гомометалічного оксиборату Mn2OBO3 — сполуки, в якій реалізується одномірна стрічкова структура. Аннотация: Taking into account the real crystalline structure of the CuO2 plane and the strong spin-fermion coupling, the influence of the on-site Coulomb repulsion of holes Up and the intersite Coulomb repulsion V2 between holes located at the next-nearest-neighbor oxygen ions on the formation of the superconducting gap with the d-wave symmetry of the order parameter of the spin-polaron quasiparticles is studied. It is shown that the formation of the resulting superconducting gap within the spin-fermion model is caused by three components. The dependence of the narrowing of the superconducting gap on the values Up and V2 is analyzed.

Аннотация: For systems with strong electron correlations and strong electron–phonon interaction, we analyze the electron–phonon interaction in local variables. The effects of the mutual influence of electron–electron and electron–phonon interactions that determine the structure of local Hubbard polarons are described. Using a system containing copper–oxygen layers as an example, we consider the competition between the diagonal and off-diagonal interactions of electrons with the breathing mode as the polaron band structure is formed within a corrected formulation of the polaron version of the generalized tight-binding method. The band structure of Hubbard polarons is shown to depend strongly on the temperature due to the excitation of Franck–Condon resonances. For an undoped La2CuO4 compound we have described the evolution of the band structure and the spectral function from the hole dispersion in an antiferromagnetic insulator at low temperatures with the valence band maximum at point (π/2, π/2) to the spectrum with the maximum at point (π, π) typical for the paramagnetic phase. The polaron line width at the valence band top and its temperature dependence agree qualitatively with angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy for undoped cuprates.

Аннотация: Doping and strain dependences of the electronic structure of the CuO6-octahedra layer within LDA+GTB method in the frameworks of six-band p-d model are calculated. Band structure and Fermi surface of the quasiparticle excitations in the effective Hubbard model are characterized by inhomogeneous distribution of the k-dependent spectral weight. Doping results in reconstruction of the band structure, redistribution of the spectral weight over dispersion surface, and reconstruction of Fermi surface from small hole pockets in the underdoped region to large hole contour in the overdoped region through two quantum phase transitions (QPT). Strain increasing leads to displacement of the valence and conductivity bands, bandwidths decreasing, and shift of the concentrations corresponding to QPTs. Strain dependences of the antiferromagnetic exchange coupling and DOS at the Fermi level determining superconducting temperature Tc are obtained. Effective exchange coupling in the equation for Tc demonstrates monotonic strain dependence.

Аннотация: In the framework of the cluster perturbation theory for the 2D Hubbard and Hubbard-Holstein models at low hole doping, we have studied the effect of local and short-range correlations in strongly correlated systems on the anomalous features in the electronic spectrum by investigating the fine structure of quasiparticle bands. Different anomalous features of spectrum are obtained as the result of intrinsic properties of strongly correlated electron and polaron bands in the presence of short-range correlations. Particularly, features similar to the electron-like Fermi-pockets of cuprates at hole doping p ∼ 0.1 are obtained without ad hoc introducing a charge density wave order parameter within the Hubbard model in a unified manner with other known peculiarities of the pseudogap phase like Fermi-arcs, pockets, waterfalls, and kink-like features. The Fermi surface is mainly formed by dispersive quasiparticle bands with large spectral weight, formed by coherent low-energy exications. Within the Hubbard-Holstein model at moderate phonon frequencies, we show that modest values of local electron-phonon interaction are capable of introducing low-energy kink-like features and affecting the Fermi surface by hybridization of the fermionic quasiparticle bands with the Franck-Condon resonances.

Аннотация: In the second order of the operator form of the perturbation theory, the effective interactions in a superconducting nanowire have been obtained at the strong electron correlations, when the spin-orbit coupling parameter is comparable with the hopping integral. Using the exact diagonalization technique, in short nanowires with the open boundary conditions at the strong Coulomb repulsion, the excitations corresponding to the Majorana edge states with the energy below the value of a bulk superconducting gap have been demonstrated.

Аннотация: Electronic structure in the normal state and properties in the superconducting state of the orthorhombic phase in HTSC cuprates are studied within the multielectron generalized tight-binding (GTB) approach. The joint effect of variation of average Cu-O distance and orthorhombic distortion on the Fermi contour, band structure, and concentration dependence of Tc is studied. Quasiparticle excitations were constructed within the framework of the five-band p-d model for the layer of the CuO6 octahedra. The electronic structure of quasiparticle excitations in the effective Hubbard model is calculated using the equation of motion for Green’s functions in the generalized mean-field approximation. Orthorhombic distortion leads to asymmetric with respect to the nodal direction of the Brillouin zone dispersion surface of quasiparticle excitations and to splitting of each van Hove singularity into two peaks. Transformation of the Fermi contour from hole pockets to the large hole and electron pockets occurs as a result of two quantum-phase transitions at dopings xc1 and xc2. Simultaneous average Cu-O distance elongation and orthorhombic distortion decreasing result in Tc decrease. Tc dependence on average Cu-O distance in the orthorhombic phase is in agreement with the behavior of experimental Tcmax values when the DOS effect on Tc prevails over the effect of the exchange parameter. There are two Tc maxima in the orthorhombic system with the suppressed exchange parameter, and these maxima appear at concentrations xc1 and xc2.

Аннотация: We propose a method for calculating the electronic band structure of disordered systems with strong electron correlations. Various approaches to the description of electrical conductivity of disordered systems are considered. Calculations are based on determining the one-particle Green function of the system, which is averaged over different configurations of a cluster, on the Boltzmann formalism, and the Kubo linear response theory. As the basic model, we use the Hubbard model for an A –xBx binary alloy.

Аннотация: Cluster perturbation theory is applied to the two-dimensional Hubbard t - t' - t '' - U model to obtain doping and temperature-dependent electronic spectral function with 4 x 4 and 12-site clusters. It is shown that evolution of the pseudogap and electronic dispersion with doping and temperature is similar and in both cases it is significantly influenced by spin-spin short-range correlations. When short-range magnetic order is weakened by doping or temperature and Hubbard-I-like electronic dispersion becomes more pronounced, the Fermi arc turns into a large Fermi surface and the pseudogap closes. It is demonstrated how static spin correlations impact the overall dispersion's shape and how accounting for dynamic contributions leads to momentum-dependent spectral weight at the Fermi surface and broadening effects.

Аннотация: In this study the problem of strong Coulomb interactions in topological superconducting wire is analyzed by means of the density-matrix-renormalization-group (DMRG) approach. To obtain the topological phase diagrams and analyze properties of edge states in the BDI-class structure the quantity called Majorana polarization is used. Its behavior agrees with the entanglement-spectrum degeneracy which has topological nature. The DMRG calculations for the Shubin-Vonsovsky-type model of the wire show the transformation of phases with Majorana single and double modes (MSMs and MDMs, respectively) under the increase of on- and inter-site correlations. In particular, the effects of MSM and MDM robustness as well as their induction are observed. It is shown that in the strongly correlated regime the contributions of single-particle excitations to the Majorana-type states significantly decrease if averaged on-site spin-dependent concentrations have comparable values. Moreover, the t−J∗−V-model is derived allowing to study the effective interactions and improve the DMRG numerics. In order to demonstrate the key role of spin and charge fluctuations in the revealed effects we analytically consider the limiting case of the effective Hamiltonian with infinitely strong on-site repulsion using the Hubbard-I approximation. Finally, the ways to probe the MSMs and MDMs via the features of caloric functions are discussed.

Аннотация: A substantial magnetic contribution into specific heat capacity is found in monocrystalline ErAl3(BO3)4 at temperatures below 5 K. The results of measured ESR spectra at 4,2 K confirm manifestation of short-range magnetic order as well. The obtained data is discussed invoking the model accounting for spin-spin interaction between rare-earth ions in paired clusters.

Предметные рубрики: STRUCTURAL-PROPERTIES
Аннотация: A number of calcium bismuthates were synthesized (25 to 50 mol% in Ca) and characterized by XRD, SEM, EDX, XPS and DRS techniques; the latter provided an estimate of the bandgap energies (Ebg=2.41 to 3.29 eV) via Tauc plots for indirect transitions, whereas XPS established the potentials (vs NHE) of their respective valence bands (and thus the conduction bands). Linear correlations existed between EVB/ECB and Ebg that when compared with those of strontium bismuthates (reported earlier) showed that differences in energies at Ebg=0 eV are related to the difference in the absolute electronegativities of Ca and Sr, from which the following empirical phenomenological rule is postulated: replacing one alkaline earth metal in bismuthates by another causes the points of intersection of the linear correlations ECB(Ebg) and EVB(Ebg) to be displaced by an amount equal to twice the difference in absolute electronegativities of these metals.
