Аннотация: Using a LDA + GTB (local density approximation + generalized tight-binding) hybrid scheme we investigate the band structure of the electron-doped high-T-c material Sm2-xCexCuO4. Parameters of the minimal tight-binding model for this system (the so-called three-band Emery model) were obtained within the NMTO (Nth-order muffin-tin orbital) method. The doping evolution of the dispersion and the Fermi surface in the presence of electronic correlations was investigated in two regimes of magnetic order: short-range (spin-liquid) and long-range (antiferromagnetic metal). Each regime is characterized by the specific topologies of the Fermi surfaces and we discuss their relation to recent experimental data.

Аннотация: The renormalizations of the fermionic spectrum are considered within the framework of the t-J* model taking into account three-center interactions (H-(3)) and magnetic fluctuations. Self-consistent spin dynamics equations for strongly correlated fermions with three-center interactions were obtained to calculate quasi-spin correlators. A numerical self-consistent solution to a system of ten equations was obtained to show that, in the nearest-neighbor approximation, simultaneously including H-(3) and magnetic fluctuations at n n(1) (n(1) approximate to 0.72 for 2t/U = 0.25) caused qualitative changes in the structure of the energy spectrum. A new Van Hove singularity is then induced in the density of states, and an additional maximum appears in the T-c(n) concentration dependence of the temperature of the transition to the superconducting phase with order parameter symmetry of the d(x2-y2) type. Аннотация: Using the diagram technique for Hubbard operators, the effect of quasi-two-dimensionality and hybridization of the 4f electrons of cerium ions and p electrons of indium ions on the properties of the antiferromagnetic, superconducting, and mixed phases in heavy-fermion intermetallic compounds of cerium is studied. It is shown that taking into account quasi-two-dimensionality, low-energy hybridization processes renormalize the antiferromagnetic and superconducting order parameters in the broken time-reversal symmetry phase. Estimates of the critical temperatures of antiferromagnetic ordering and Cooper instability, obtained by the developed approach, are in good agreement with experimental data for cerium-based intermetallic compounds. © 2016, Pleiades Publishing, Ltd.

Аннотация: In the framework of the t–J 1–J 2–V model, the integral equation determining the order parameter Δ(p) of the superconducting phase is derived for an ensemble of strongly correlated fermions on a triangular lattice using the diagram technique for the Hubbard operators. Taking into account the interaction between the Hubbard fermions within two coordination spheres, we demonstrate that the exact analytical solution Δ2(p) of this equation for the superconducting phase with the ((dx2−y2+idxy) symmetry can be expressed as a superposition of two chiral basis functions. This gives rise to a new set of nodal points for the complex parameter Δ2(p). Moreover, at some critical value x c of the charge carrier density, we obtain a gapless phase with six Dirac points. The passing of x through x = x c is accompanied by the topological quantum transition corresponding to the change in the topological parameter Q.

Аннотация: First-row transition metal atoms adsorption on bigraphene monovacancy was studied within the framework of DFT in periodic boundary conditions. Electronic and magnetic properties of composites were analyzed and their potential utilization in spintronics was discussed. Barriers of metal atoms migration from bigraphene surface to the interlayer space through the vacancy were estimated in order to consider both thermodynamic and kinetic aspects of composites experimental preparation. Formation of metal atoms inner-sorbed on bigraphene was found to demand harsh synthesis conditions; whereas outer-sorbed composites demonstrate significantly higher degree of spin polarization which makes them perspective for usage in spintronic devices. © 2015 Elsevier B.V.

Аннотация: In this study, the problem of strong Coulomb interactions in topological superconducting wire is analyzed by means of the density-matrix-renormalization-group (DMRG) approach. To analyze properties of edge states in the BDI-class structure, a quantity called Majorana polarization is used. From its dependence on wire length and an entanglement-spectrum degeneracy, topological phase diagrams are obtained. The DMRG calculations for the Shubin-Vonsovsky-type model of the wire show the transformation of phases with Majorana single and double modes (MSMs and MDMs, respectively) under the increase of onsite and intersite correlations. In particular, we demonstrate different scenarios including the possibilities of both induction and suppression of the MSMs and MDMs. It is shown that in the strongly correlated regime, the contributions of single-particle excitations to the Majorana-type states significantly decrease at low magnetic fxields. Moreover, the t-J*-V model is derived allowing to study the effective interactions and improve the DMRG numerics. It is found out that in the limiting case of the effective Hamiltonian with infinitely strong onsite repulsion, t model, the topological phases are destroyed. Finally, the ways to probe the MSMs and MDMs via the features of caloric functions are discussed.

Аннотация: It is shown that the intersite Coulomb interaction of electrons in a topological insulator leads to the splitting of the initial energy structure and to the induction of two bands of fluctuation states. As a result, the total spectrum of Fermi excitations of the topological insulator has a four-band structure. The dielectric gap is determined by the energy interval between the bottom of the band of fluctuation states of conduction electrons and the top of the valence band of fluctuation states. Since the band of fluctuation states is narrow, quasiparticles with different effective masses appear.

Аннотация: The diagram technique for Hubbard operators is used to investigate the influence of intersite Coulomb interactions on the energy structure and Cooper instability of strongly correlated fermions. Allowance for intersite correlations in doped Mott-Hubbard insulators is shown to lead to a splitting of the lower subband of Hubbard fermions and to the formation of a band of fluctuation states as soon as the intersite interaction energy becomes comparable to or exceeds the mean kinetic energy. The spectral intensity of the splitoff band is proportional to the root-mean-square fluctuation of the occupation numbers and increases with doping level. The predicted effect changes significantly the structure of the density of electronic states. This leads to a renormalization of the pole of the scattering amplitude in the Cooper channel and manifests itself as a nonuniform (in electron concentration) modification of the dependence of the critical superconducting transition temperature.

Аннотация: We consider the doping dependence of the normal and superconducting properties of La2Sr2−x CuO2 and YBa2Cu3O7 in the low energy effective model based on the ab initio LDA+GTB calculations. With doping we have found a concentration region with electronic instability of the uniform state. We have shown that two quantum phase transitions (QPT) of the Lifshitz type correspond well to the experimental phase diagram. For superconducting state we have considered both magnetic and phonon mechanisms of pairing.

Аннотация: A new family of planar nanostructures having graphene-like electronic band structure is theoretically investigated by density functional theory (DFT). Based on general perturbation theory and a tight-binding model, it was shown that graphene-like planar structures, consisting of identical nanoparticles with relatively weak contacts between them, should have an electronic band structure with Dirac cones. Two such structures, consisting of 71- or 114-silicon atom nanoparticles, were investigated by DFT using VASP software package. The band-structure calculations show the presence of Dirac cones with electron group velocity equal to 1.05 × 105 and 0.53 × 105 m/s, respectively. By generalizing the theory, a new family of 3D structures having intersecting areas with linear dispersion in the band structures was derived. As an example, the band structure of identical 25-atom silicon nanoclusters arranged in a simple cubic lattice was calculated. It was shown that the band structure has features similar to the Dirac cones.

Аннотация: Majorana corner modes have a number of advantages over the conventional Majorana states in terms of performing topologically protected quantum computations. However, the problem of the influence of Coulomb repulsion on higher-order phases, which inevitably arises when trying to implement such systems in practice, has been poorly studied. In this article, we analyze the features of a topological invariant describing the nontrivial phase with the corner modes for a two-dimensional two-orbital model of a hybrid structure in the regime of extremely strong electron correlations. For this purpose, approximate wave functions of the edge states with a linear dispersion law and the associated Dirac masses, which arise when superconducting pairing in the system is taken into account, are obtained.

Аннотация: The problems of occurrence and experimental identification of topologically nontrivial phases in condensed matter have been reviewed. The results of the study of the effect of strong intra- and interatomic Coulomb interaction on a quantum phase transition with change in the topological index in an ensemble of Hubbard fermions on a triangular lattice have been reported. Nontrivial topology of the phase of coexistence of d + id chiral superconductivity and 120° spin ordering in a system with the triangular lattice has been discussed and the formation of Majorana modes in such a phase has been demonstrated. A cascade of quantum transitions that occurs at the variation of the magnetic field or the electrochemical potential has been analyzed for an open nanowire with the Rashba spin-orbit coupling and the induced superconducting pairing potential. It has been shown that anomalies of magneto- and electrocaloric effects are manifested near such quantum transitions and can be used to experimentally test materials on the existence of topologically nontrivial phases in them. The switching of the spin-polarized current in the topological superconducting phase has been predicted for a semimetal/superconducting wire/semimetal structure in the weak nonequilibrium regime.

Аннотация: We propose an explanation of the peculiar linear temperature dependence of the uniform spin susceptibility chi(T) in ferropnictides. We argue that the linear in T term appears to be due to the nonanalytic temperature dependence of chi(T) in a two-dimensional Fermi liquid. We show that the prefactor of the T term is expressed via the square of the spin-density-wave (SDW) amplitude connecting nested hole and electron pockets. Because of an incipient SDW instability, this amplitude is large, which, along with a small value of the Fermi energy, makes the T dependence of chi(T) strong. We demonstrate that this mechanism is in quantitative agreement with the experiment.

Аннотация: We discuss the conditions under which Majorana zero modes can be implemented in the coexistence phase of chiral superconductivity and 120°-type noncollinear spin structure on the triangular lattice. It is shown that the gapless elementary excitations exist on the finite region in the parameter space consisting of the effective exchange field, the chemical potential, and the superconducting order parameter. The range of parameters supporting Majorana edge states with exactly zero excitation energy has also been found.Обсуждаются условия, при которых в фазе сосуществования киральной сверхпроводимости и неколлинеарной 120-градусной спиновой структуры на треугольной решетке могут реализоваться майорановские нулевые моды. Показано, что бесщелевые элементарные возбуждения существуют в конечной области параметрического пространства, определяемого эффективным обменным полем, химическим потенциалом и сверхпроводящим параметром порядка. Набор параметров, формирующий майорановские краевые состояния со строго равной нулю энергией возбуждения, также был найден.

Аннотация: At present, a new mechanis m of the formation of the Majorana edge states in topological spin-singlet superconductors due to the presence of the long- range magnetic order is often considered [1- 3]. We show a formation of the coexistence state of chiral d+id superconductivity and noncollinear 120-degree spin ordering in the strongly correlated Mott- Hubbard system with a triangular lattice (such as NaxCoO2). There exist different topologically nontrivial phases characterized by the invariant N3in the coexistence stateю The topologicaltransitions between such phases occur upon increasingelectron doping. By solving the system of equations for the Green functions the appearance of Majorana fermions in the coexistence phase is shown. With strong correlation effects the Majorana fermion c an be defined as the specificsuperposition of electron-like and hole-like Hubbard fermions.
