Аннотация: We develop a method for the determination of the dynamics of dissipative quantum systems in the limit of large number of quanta N, based on the 1/N-expansion of Heidmann et al. [Opt. Commun. 54, 189 (1985)] and the quantum-classical correspondence. Using this method, we End analytically the dynamics of nonclassical states generation in the higher-order anharmonic dissipative oscillators for an arbitrary temperature of a reservoir. We show that the quantum correction to the classical motion increases with time quadratically up to some maximal value, which is dependent on the degree of nonlinearity and a damping constant, and then it decreases. Similarities and differences with the corresponding behavior of the quantum corrections to the classical motion in the Hamiltonian chaotic systems are discussed. We also compare our results obtained for some limiting cases with the results obtained by using other semiclassical tools and discuss the conditions for validity of our approach.

Аннотация: We consider two electric RLC resonance networks that are equivalent to quantum billiards. In a network of inductors grounded by capacitors, the eigenvalues of the quantum billiard correspond to the squared resonant frequencies. In a network of capacitors grounded by inductors, the eigenvalues of the billiard are given by the inverse of the squared resonant frequencies. In both cases, the local voltages play the role of the wave function of the quantum billiard. However, unlike for quantum billiards, there is a heat power because of the resistance of the inductors. In the equivalent chaotic billiards, we derive a distribution of the heat power which describes well the numerical statistics.

Аннотация: A rectangular microwave resonator filled with ferrite with uniaxial magnetic anisotropy is considered. It is shown that this task can be reduced to an empty rhombus resonator with the vertex angle defined by an external magnetic field, provided that the magnetic anisotropy of the ferrite is strong. Therefore, the statistics of eigenfrequencies for TM modes is described by the Brody or semi-Poisson distribution with some exceptional cases.

Аннотация: It is demonstrated, both analytically and numerically, that eigenfunction statistics in chaotic billiards with spin-orbit interaction fundamentally depend on the ratio of the squared spin-orbit interaction constant. If this ratio is small, one of the eigenstate components is a random Gaussian field, whereas another is not universal and depends on the billiard type. In the opposite case, the statistics of both components is described by the independent random complex Gaussian fields with the same variances. In the intermediate case, both eigenfunction components do not satisfy Gaussian statistics. (C) 2003 MAIK "Nauka / Interperiodica".

Аннотация: We show that the wave function and current statistics in chaotic Robnik billiards crucially depend on the constant of the spin-orbit interaction (SOI). For small constant the current statistics is described by universal current distributions derived for slightly opened chaotic billiards [Saichev et al. J. Phys. A. 35, L87 (2002)] although one of the components of the spinor eigenfunctions is not universal. For strong SOI both components of the spinor eigenstate are complex random Gaussian fields. This observation allows us to derive the distributions of spin-orbit persistent cut-rents which well describe numerical statistics. For intermediate values of the statistics of the eigenstates and currents, both are deeply nonuniversal.

Аннотация: We analyze the transport phenomena of two-dimensional quantum billiards with convex boundary of different shape. The quantum mechanical analysis is performed by means of the poles of the S matrix while the classical analysis is based on the motion of a free particle inside the cavity along trajectories with a different number of bounces at the boundary. The value of the conductance depends on the manner in which the leads are attached to the cavity. The Fourier transform of the transmission amplitudes is compared with the length of the classical paths. There is good agreement between classical and quantum mechanical results when the conductance is achieved mainly by special short-lived states such as whispering gallery modes and bouncing ball modes. In these cases, also the localization of the wave functions agrees with the picture of the classical paths. The S matrix is calculated classically and compared with the transmission coefficients of the quantum mechanical calculations for five modes in each lead. The number of modes coupled to the special states is effectively reduced.

Аннотация: This Letter studies the dynamics of transitions between the levels of a Wannier-Stark ladder induced by a resonant periodic driving. The analysis of the problem is done in terms of resonance quasienergy states, which take into account the metastable character of the Wannier-Stark states. It is shown that the periodic driving creates from a localized Wannier-Stark state an extended Bloch-like state with a spatial length varying in time as similar to t(1/2). Such a state can find applications in the field of atomic optics because it generates a coherent pulsed atomic beam. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.

Аннотация: The quasienergy spectrum of a Bloch electron affected by dc-ac fields is known to have a fractal structure as a function of the so-called electric matching ratio, which is the ratio of the ac field frequency and the Bloch frequency. This paper studies a manifestation of the fractal nature of the spectrum in the system "atom in a standing laser wave", which is a quantum-optical realization of a Bloch electron. It is shown that for an appropriate choice of the system parameters the atomic survival probability (a quantity measured in laboratory experiments) also develops a fractal structure as a function of the electric matching ratio. Numerical simulations under classically chaotic scattering conditions show good agreement with theoretical predictions based on random matrix theory.

Аннотация: In this work, we discuss the resonance states of a quantum particle in a periodic potential plus a static force. Originally, this problem was formulated for a crystal electron subject to a static electric field and it is nowadays known as the Wannier-Stark problem. We describe a novel approach to the Wannier-Stark problem developed in recent years. This approach allows to compute the complex energy spectrum of a Wannier-Stark system as the poles of a rigorously constructed scattering matrix and solves the Wannier-Stark problem without any approximation. The suggested method is very efficient from the numerical point of view and has proven to be a powerful analytic tool for Wannier-Stark resonances appearing in different physical systems such as optical lattices or semiconductor superlattices. Аннотация: We demonstrate the possibility of triplet p-wave pairing at low electron density a large number of models such as 3D and 2D Fermi-gas models with hard-core repulsion, 3D and 2D Hubbard models, and the Shubin-Vonsovsky model. The critical temperature for p-wave pairing can be considerably higher in the spin-polarized case or even in a two-band situation at low density and can reach experimentally observable values of 1–5 K. We also discuss briefly the d-wave pairing and high-Tc superconductivity with Tc ∼ 100 K which arise in the extended Hubbard model and in the generalized t-Jmodel when close to half-filling.

Аннотация: Depletion dynamics of an open system of weakly interacting fermions with two-body random interactions is studied. In this model, fermions are escaping from the high-energy one-particle orbitals, that mimics the evaporation process used in laboratory experiments with neutral atoms to cool them to ultra-low temperatures. It is shown that due to self-thermalization the system instantaneously adjusts to the new temperature which decreases with the course of time.

Аннотация: Quantum diffusion in a biased kicked Harper system, modeling field-induced transport in superlattices, is studied for fully chaotic dynamics of the underlying classical system. Under these conditions, the classical transport is diffusive whereas the quantum diffusion can be either enhanced or suppressed for commensurable or incommensurable ratio of the Bloch period to the driving period, respectively. The quantum transport properties are related to the statistical properties of the quasienergy spectra as described by random matrix theory.

Аннотация: Similar to the Berry conjecture of quantum chaos, an elastic analogue which incorporates longitudinal and transverse elastic displacements with corresponding wave vectors is considered. The correlation functions are derived for the amplitudes and intensities of elastic displacements. A comparison to the numerics in a quarter-Bunimovich stadium demonstrates excellent agreement.

Аннотация: We consider the nodal points (NPs) u=0 and v=0 of the in-plane vectorial displacements u=(u,v) which obey the Navier-Cauchy equation. Similar to the Berry conjecture of quantum chaos, we present the in-plane eigenstates of chaotic billiards as the real part of the superposition of longitudinal and transverse plane waves with random phases. By an average over random phases we derive the mean density and correlation function of NPs. Consequently we consider the distribution of the nearest distances between NPs.

Аннотация: We derive an explicit expression for the coupling constants of individual eigenstates of a closed billiard that is opened by attaching a waveguide. The Wigner time delay and the resonance positions resulting from the coupling constants are compared to an exact numerical calculation. Deviations can be attributed to evanescent modes in the waveguide and to the finite number of eigenstates taken into account. The influence of the shape of the billiard and of the boundary conditions at the mouth of the waveguide are also discussed. Finally we show that the mean value of the dimensionless coupling constants tends to the critical value when the eigenstates of the billiard follow random-matrix theory.

Аннотация: We consider the statistics of currents for electron (microwave) transmission through rectangular and circular billiards. For the resonant transmission the current distribution is describing by the universal distribution [ A. I. Saichev , J. Phys. A 35, L87 (2002) ]. For the more typical case of nonresonant transmission the current statistics reveals features of the current channeling (corridor effect) interior of the billiard. The numerical statistics is compared with analytical distributions.

Аннотация: Transport through quantum and microwave cavities is studied by analytic and numerical techniques. In particular, we consider the statistics for a finite net probability current (Poynting vector) j flowing through an open ballistic Sinai billiard to which two opposite leads/wave guides are attached. We show that if the net probability current is small, the scattering wave function inside the billiard is well approximated by a Gaussian random complex field. In this case, the current statistics are universal and obey simple analytic forms. For larger net currents, these forms still apply over several orders of magnitudes. However, small characteristic deviations appear in the tail regions. Although the focus is on electron and microwave billiards, the analysis is relevant also to other classical wave cavities as, for example, open planar acoustic reverberation rooms, elastic membranes, and water surface waves in irregularly shaped vessels.
